I am going to be looking into making my own beer based on above reccomendations to check out the shop in Partick to purchase the equipement and ingredients. I plan to make a an american style pale ale. I'm thinking on calling it Flenders American Pale Ale after the Flenders farm next to my house.

As i face an invevitable ban per the forum awards i shall probably have to report how it goes later on in the year.

Just reading that the AB:15 from Brewdog will be a Salt Caramel Popcorn flavoured beer aged in a cask made up of planks from both rum and bourbon barrels for two years.

AB:15 referes to the 15th bottle in the Abstrakt limited release series of beers Brewdog creates.

I mentioned in the food thread I was having an organisational role with this years East Renfrewshire Food & Drink festival in August. It's a three day event in a local park in East Renfrewshire area of Glasgow. Quite excited as it's looking like I will be in charge of organising a beer tent.

The tent is going to have three elements.

1) We will have four brewers having four taps each of their beers so people can buy a pint.

2) Over the course of the three days people can book in for a beer tasting session which will be hosted by someone who is a craft beer expert.

3) The invited brewers will also have the chance to sell their beers in bottles to take away as we plan to have a bottle shop counter. The beers to buy to take away will also include beers from around the world.

We are in talks to have Mikkeller the brewer himself come to the festival which would be a massive coup for craft beer lovers.

On a different note, Future Publishing have brought out a one-off large magazine about craft beers. It's basically a '365 best beers' thing, broken down into types of beer, with information about what differentiates different types of beer, what kind of food goes best with it, and so on. It's in WH Smiths for a tenner.

As someone who is absolutely no expert, and only started really drinking ales a few years ago, I found it accessible and fairly interesting. It's pretty well written and doesn't seem overly twatty. I don't know if it'll be of interest to the experts here, but it may be a good one for relative starters.

Had some Clown King barley wine from Brewdog. Very sweet but the aftertaste left a very strong bitterness that left your tongue dancing and wanting more. Was only available as a draught 1/3rd due to it being 12% and came in at
