dangerously420 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Mine is looking like this Very expensive fizzy water! Quote
Paid Members Up Chuck Posted December 22, 2013 Paid Members Posted December 22, 2013 He wouldn't pay that for it, even if the shop was right near his expensive flat in a nice area. Quote
Philo_Vance Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Brewdog stuff's overrated imo. The branding is better than the beer. Good shout on the Mikeller though, everything they do is great. I'm also loving most of the Weird Beard stuff at the moment. Quote
Paid Members Tommy! Posted December 23, 2013 Paid Members Posted December 23, 2013 Brewdog stuff's overrated imo. The branding is better than the beer. I'd second that. Never gone a bundle for their beers in bottle or in the pub and find it all underwhelming but the place is always packed and I always hear it mentioned when I'm on about enjoying a pint at work. They sell themselves well, people know of them even as that "cool beer place" some how. They even got a name drop in this month Quote
Moderators PowerButchi Posted December 23, 2013 Author Moderators Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Last night I was on the Titanic Wreckage and I've spent most of the moning shitting and I'm pretty sure I'm still half pissed. Strong in ABV and flavour. Probably too strong on both counts, to be honest. Not one you can drink all day if you don't want to fill the pan full of Oxtail Soup like I am currently doing. And yeah, Brewdog's like some kind of clever branding ale. Great marketing, average beer. It's best used as a gateway drug. Edited December 23, 2013 by PowerButchi Quote

I get the Brewdog criticisms but I'd still take their 5am Saint, Hardcore IPA & Jackhammer over lots of the competition. Their 'Santa Paws' christmas ale is also delicious. Quote
Guy Bifkin Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Currently enjoying Oakham's Inferno down my local. Generally prefer the lighter pale or golden ales...I find some of the really strong darker stuff you get around this time of year hard work. Quote

I've felt mixed about 5am Saint. Sometimes it's amazing sometimes it's average at best. Consistency is hard to get right with craft beer unlike themass market beers like Carling. Quote
Moderators PowerButchi Posted December 23, 2013 Author Moderators Posted December 23, 2013 Anyone else found themselves going off beer very recently for some reason? It's almost as if something has happened to spoil it. Quote
Ian 86 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 my secret santa present at work this year was Krombacher dark, Peroni doppio malto, and franzishaner weissbier. Very pleased compared to the usual 'funny but safe for work' novelty crap. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Quite partial to the Banana Bread Beer at the moment. Leave it in the fridge for about 3-4 days and then open and drink it. Tastes wonderful! Got a few bottles for the Festive season along with some cider and some other assorted ales. Quote
Rey_Piste Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Marston's Banana Bread beer is quite nice, I just find it gets quite sickly near the end of a bottle. My girlfriend's not an ale drinker, but she does like that along with some of the more flower types of beer. Quote

I had some at a beer festival last year, nice ale. Quote
