Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 3, 2015 Author Paid Members Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) I expect him to beat Brock at WrestleMania. I just dont think Brock will be the champion by them. Looks like Brock is on job duty from now on. If he is leaving there's no way he's going over Cena again. And the fact Bryan is in the Rumble screams "plans change" to me.They seem to be testing him recently, putting him in matches where he's selling a lot. I don't know if that's a conscious decision or just what they do to fill time these days. It could be evidence that plans have changed. I really hope they still pull the trigger on him because otherwise I think he'll lose any aura he has. What they've done to Bray Wyatt this year, to Dean Ambrose the past four months and what they were doing with Rollins until recently shows they have no idea how to book a guy strongly unless he's squashing people. I've no faith that in a year's time if Reigns is theoretically a better worker that he'll be in a position where even half the audience are desperate to see him make it. They'd be far better off going with him now. They did that with Batista and Cena and were rewarded as they got better and better. They've a safety net too because if the crowd turn on Reigns then you use that as motivation to turn him heel with the title and you've got three brilliant ready made feuds with Cena, Ambrose and Bryan. King Pitcos Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 He's been wrestling for 5 years - in the old days, that wouldn't be nearly enough to be the top guy. In the modern 5 hours-a-week TV era, I guess you can't let people hang around the mid card for as long as, say, HBK or Hart. Yep. Because everyone in the midcard gets too much TV time and none of it substantial, hanging around that scene for long can be killer. Parity booking and/or repetition just saps the interest right out. Even near the top, and when you mostly win, the Groundhog Day creative works against you. Since the Shield disbanded, Roman Reigns has beaten Kane 26 times on TV. Probably. In WWE terms, Roman's been about just over two years. That's longer than it took Punk, Bryan, Sheamus, Swagger, Del Rio, Lesnar, Angle, Undertaker, Khali, Big Show, Rock and others to win their first world title.
Glass Smash Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) If things don't go to plan with Reigns I can see them do a Ryback and turn him heel out of the blue. To be honest I already cringe at the thought of having to listen to Reigns cut long in ring promos on Raw each week should he become champion. Unless they turn him heel and stick Heyman with him as a mouthpiece. That would surely be a better option than watching him look like he's reading the promo from an autocue. If Brock is done after Mania they are going to have to find a new Heyman guy. Could this be Reigns come April? Actually does anyone know the current contract status with Brock and WWE? Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted January 3, 2015 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) I'll be annoyed if WWE have screwed up the rise of Reigns. As tiger rick typed above, there is a real chance they'll miss the chance and he'll end up losing any lustre he has left mixing it up in auto-pilot feuds (Bray Wyatt). It's sad that it's potentially two years of Vince getting it wrong, and having to scramble for an alternative. Edited January 3, 2015 by ColinBollocks
The Cutting Edge Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) We and WWE need new people on top , some people seem to think we can only have two or three at a time, a mix of legit top guys like Cena, Bryan, Reigns, Wyatt, Rollins,Orton, Ambrose with Ziggler, Sheamus, Show etc floating in-out over the next year will be great. I like Bryan but hope he doesnt win the Rumble/win title at Mania, to me him and Reigns are pretty even in momentum leading to the Rumble so it could go either way so hope its Reigns gets it. If fans dont get behind him then and wwe pull the plug on his push then they cant complain when Cena is back as champion Edited January 3, 2015 by The Cutting Edge
Glass Smash Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 With guys like Big Show and Kane it's got to the stage where nobody gives a fuck if they're faces or heels anymore. Those two are just stuck in limbo.
UK Kat Von D Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Reigns' main problem is going to be his push doesn't feel organic. Fans don't want to be presented with a hero, they want to pick one. That's why Cena had backlash, it's why Bryan is so popular and it explains the rise and fall of Batista. Fans wanted to cheer Reigns while he was the cool member of a cool group, as soon as they made it too apparent he was the next guy fans rebel. Obviously the plan was always for Reigns to be the man, but it was handled properly during the Shield run which was leading to the proper reactions. Winning a world title means shit. Where it matters is if fans want someone to win the title. That's when you have a star accepted by the audience. I like Reigns and want him to do well, I just don't have faith that WWE can handle him right
The Cutting Edge Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 With all the discussion about if Roman Reigns is ready for the big push or gonna get booed, I think what will affect his chances on top post Mania are who he feuds with, if he feuds with someone like Big Show or Kane then he may be in trouble. I'd keep Sheamus off tv til post Mania (dunno if hes due back before anyway) bring him back as a heel with a new look and music etc, maybe make him a hired gun type thing for The Authority (who I imagine will be back by then), he could be the perfect fit against Roman and story wise he 'sold out' to The Authority or he'd get deported as Steph told him. Unrelated but how far has Kane fallen recently, he was 'just in the ring for his match with no music' the other week on Smackdown and seems to have lost any aura he had left, I know he's probably on his way out and putting others over but what a 'meh' way to end things This was an Idea I posted the other day for Reigns

I like Reigns and want him to do well, I just don't have faith that WWE can handle him right I think this is a good point, and it could turn out (very unfortunately, if you ask me, because I think Reigns is great) that the breakup of The Shield ends up making Ambrose and Rollins, and not Reigns, instead of all three being made like WWE (I assume) wanted. I still miss The Shield, but their end has done good things for two of them, at least. However, I don't know what you would do to get Reigns up to 'next guy' level without the split. At some point, you still have to strap the rocket to him, you can't do it organically, bit by bit, all the way to the top. Well, you can up to the point of winning the big one, I guess, but even then, you've still got the risk of fans rebelling after he's 'the next guy'. That's what happened with Cena.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 3, 2015 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Apparently, the moral is the lowest its been since the mid-90s following that Vince/Austin interview. The penny seems to have dropped with the current roster that Vince thinks they are a bunch of man-childs who will never make the company money and are making up the numbers. The moral was already on its arse since nobody is getting paid anything significant in merch and PPV residuals anymore. The Austin interview really did it, though. Its one thing imagining Vince is thinking it, its another thing pretty much shit on you via a interview. Amazing its took this long really. You'd have thought post-WCW is when the shit would have hit the fan with these wrestlers. Edited January 3, 2015 by IANdrewDiceClay
Dr.PeterVenkman Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Think Maxwell nailed it, in fairness though when has someone got over big time when it's readily apparent they're being pushed to the top spot? Batista wasn't really, Bret Hart lost his last PPV match before winning the world strap, loads more They fucked Reigns by doing his subtle push around the same time Bryan was obviously winning the title at Mania, I don't care what anyone says, there's not a chance Bryan wasn't ending up with the belt at Mania after the end of Summerslam, Reigns dominating Survivor Series and the Rumble happened a year early basically

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted January 4, 2015 Awards Moderator Posted January 4, 2015 The Sky One edition of Raw on at the moment is a two-hour version rather than a one-hour. If this arrangement continues, I could become a regular Raw viewer for the first time in about ten years!
WyattSheepMask Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yeah I'm watching at the moment. I assume it's just the show with all the US ads cut out
The King Of Swing Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) The Young Bucks may well be the least intimidating wrestlers on the planet, they looked and sounded like complete dorks at that recent NJPW coconference before WK9. Edited January 4, 2015 by The King Of Swing
