Anyway, it’s great! I’ve really enjoyed binging it over the last few weeks. Really entertaining and creative, very compelling at its best, interesting and fun characters, strong voice cast, and if I had to pick one Prime Video superhero franchise, it’s this over The Boys I think. Give it a go if like me you never got round to it. I’m two episodes away from being up to date and not happy I’ll now have to wait a year or more before getting to watch new ones again. Quote

This week in particular, despite the gigantic confirmed cast, I’ve read lots of waffle about two separate scenarios featuring six actors who are not in it, which is extra weird considering how long ago principle photography wrapped. deathrey Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I went to see Spiderman on Saturday - my first time in the cinema since the last Spiderman film came out. I really enjoyed it and was glad I made time to see it in the cinema. I think they got the balance of everything just right, the humour, the emotions, the mix of characters. I thought Sadie Sink was excellent in her role, I haven't kept up with casting news but I'm hoping we will get to see her popping up in future films. Zendaya is breathtakingly beautiful on the big screen, to the point that I almost found it distracting sometimes, it took me out of the film as I would see her as Zendaya rather than MJ. Not a slight on her acting as she is excellent in it, but wow, she has a face for cinema. I haven't really kept up with Marvel films but this did prompt me to go back and watch Thunderbolts and the last Captain America film to fill in a couple of blanks. I didn't like Florence Pugh's Yelena when she first appeared in Black Widow but she has really grown on me, I enjoyed her in subsequent films and look forward to seeing her in more as the character develops. David Harbour is annoying. I am feeling more fired up for Doomsday after seeing Spiderman, I was previously indifferent. I might even make another cinema trip... Quote
Wideload90 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Just got back from Spiderman. Possibly my favourite Tom Holland film and it felt the closest to the gritty new York comics I've enjoyed. Loved the punisher and hulk elements and the main villain reveal was nicely done. Plenty of action and time to catch your breath as the story progressed. Post credit scene was a waste of time though. I did see Ant-Man 3 among a run of free trips I made when I was with O2 but Endgame was the last time I believe I paid to see a film in the cinema. However, as soon as Doomsday and Secret Wars were announced, I made Mrs raid agree that we’d go to see them. 2015 Secret Wars (with God Emperor Doom) was one of my favourite arcs, how could I not? Fog Dude Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Caught up with Brand New Day this afternoon, having somehow managed to avoid spoilers. That probably raised my enjoyment levels, but on the other hand, all the other films I'd seen this summer were sub-90 minutes so it felt like a slog. Only seemed to exist to introduce somebody they didn't have the rights to until recently (mercifully and brilliantly recast, mind) and to remind audiences about two non-Spidey MCU characters who are presumably gonna be important in Doomsday, while proving time and time again why Peter, MJ and Ned's story already ended perfectly with the way the Home trilogy wrapped up. I thought this was brilliant but I am a card carrying lover of the MCU even in its dark times from 2021-2024. I am so ready for Doomsday and Secret Wars. Saga production but not officially cast in Doomsday, so fairly confident (and delighted) her character will at least be in Secret Wars if not the final cut of Doomsday. Also, just seen mention of MCU Death on Twatter and it got me thinking. If Secret Wars does feature a Battleworld (2015 version) patchwork quilt of realities, dedicating some run time to them, and they go full bore with some having completely different tones like some of the comic mini-series did (and how WandaVision had stylistic similarities to various era of sitcom and Agatha played homage to classic horror)… my mission on that booking committee would be to persuade studio to get Brolin and Plaza on board and doing 5 minutes on Thanos’ romantic pursuit of Death, filmed in the style of a 90s romcom. Because Sky still has some kind of deal with HBO, those films will end up on Sky Cinema quicker as a result. Quote
