WyattSheepMask
Jupiter? Egg, I saw them play Leeds fest in 03 too. Really enjoyed them that day Edited March 30, 2018 by WyattSheepMask

Inspire? That's a tune off the major label record they put out (which tanked). Cave In's material is well worth checking out though regardless of which style you prefer. I'll never forget seeing them play Leeds Festival in '03 or '04 and opening the set playing some of their more alt. rock Antenna era stuff before Scofield took over on vocals half through and they blasted through some of their old hardcore stuff, the crowd were confused to say the least. RIP. https://www.loudersound.com/news/cave-in-and-old-man-glooms-caleb-scofield-dead-at-39 Gutted. Cave In are one of my favourite bands of all time, and I saw them at the Garage in 2001/2, and Big Riff live was one of the fucking heaviest moments of my life. I was on my own, saw an ex girlfriend, got even drunker and ended up proposing in Trafalgar Square. Oh to be 18 again... Jupiter is an INCREDIBLE album. So expansive for its time, and Antenna was excellent too. But their best song is Dark Driving. If you haven't heard it before, check it out now. Sad, sad news. I remember seeing them support Foo Fighters back in 2003 and they blew my mind. Jupiter is a brilliant record and Big Riff is one hell of a track. Can we just burn the whole of Black Metal like an early 90's church? I am at a point now where I'm thinking it'd be easier to give up on Black Metal altogether. Navigating the minefield of dodgy cunts is exhausting. Even bands that are supposedly not right wing usually have some kind've murky past or dodgy connection. Watain and Taake have come under fire recently, also.

I'm at the point where I've limited a lot of my black metal listening to openly antifascist and anarchist bands, speaking of which, there's a new Panopticon double album with one half metal and the other more Americana. Merzbow
Lee Dorrian of Cathedral fame has just released a punk album with his side project Septic Tank, pretty damn good stuff too. It's got a nice little metal edge to it, not too unlike Darkthrone's later stuff.

Merzbow
If you like Deafheaven and Alcest etc then you'll dig these, pretty sure they'll be the next big thing in untrve black metal.
Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted April 17, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 17, 2018 I'm very much a sort who favours the old-school when it comes to black metal but, music aside, what struck me about that video is that it's a pretty shameless ripoff of Fjara by Solstafir
