I wouldn’t think it’s hate. But I’m sure they could still wind each other up on stage so hopefully they meet. Has anyone seen Phil Taylor lately? He’s been enjoying lockdown. Must be getting a lot of Uber eats. He’ll still beat everyone though.

Also, after not winning back her tour card and Richie Burnett gaining one, Lisa Ashton has been invited to the seniors tour as his replacement.

Some big news coming out of Unicorn.

After this weeks masters Unicorn will no longer be supplying dartboards to the PDC.

https://www.playwiththebest.com/blog/cat/unicorn-darts

No mention yet of who the new supplier will be. I think if it was Target they'd have been shouting it from the rooftops already. I think a lot of people hoping for Winmau. Their boards have been far superior to Unicorn for a long time now. I assume a lot of players will be happy no longer throwing at Unicorn boards judging by the comments during the last Pro Tour last year.

Simon Whitlock will especially be happy. He was constantly moaning about bounce outs. Doesn’t help his darts tear the boards up. Adrian Lewis was also moaning a lot.

Hopefully they do use winmau. The blade 6 is the best board out there now.

It will be interesting when everyone sees the Winmau board getting torn up by players with ridiculous points. I wonder if there will be some sort of rule that you can only use equipment supplied from a specific list of manufacturers. The points that tear up the board are as far as I know not supplied by Winmau, Bulls, Unicorn, Target, Loxley, XQ, Red Dragon, Cosmo, Cuesol. They are usually home made monstrosities.

Yeah Whitlock uses allen keys which he says isn’t his fault that the boards get torn up but they only get torn up using his custom made points. Unicorn boards are shite though. I don’t think there will be any specific rule made. I’m sure he would’ve gone through any process to use his home made ones otherwise he would’ve got into some sort of trouble by now.

I know my Harrow sabre points tore up a unicorn board during a league game. And the target Swiss points I use now can do a little bit of damage depending on how cheap the boards are. They’ve just got see how someone like Whitlock gets on with a winmau and then we will know who to blame.

The premier league starts tonight. But more importantly, the world seniors championship also starts. For anyone who wants to watch, it’s on BBC iplayer and the red button. And it’s also on BT Sport. One session tonight starting at 7 and then from tomorrow onwards there is an afternoon and evening session.

It’s also produced the nicest trophy in darts. Well, better than what the PDC currently have.

Watched a fair bit of the Seniors last night and the production was shocking.

Great start to the evening when the opening ten minutes or so had no sound.  Was only a precursor of things to come.  Coverage proceeded to cut out for a period during the Thornton vs Anderson match, picture quality was dreadful throughout and camera work not much better, audio out of sync, on-screen graphics disappearing so you have no idea what the score is and were having to rely on Paul Nicholson keeping you informed, well that's when he wasn't spouting irrelevant nonsense all the time.  And then there was the "Dream Team" of Stubbsy and Bobby George, the pair of them clearly just been on the sauce all evening.  A scruffy Stubbs having made zero effort, while Bob, all hunched over, looked like his back has still not recovered from 1994.  Bobby's ramblings, sorry analysis, of the Painter vs O'Shea match was something else, and then he proceeds to think the next game is Wayne Warren vs Richie Howson, when it is in fact Darryl Fitton vs Howson, and talks about Warren for a bit (although really says nothing of note or value, just calls him a "proper darts player").  And this guy is supposed to be an ambassador for the event and is no doubt getting paid too!

But hell, I enjoyed what I saw.  Bob Anderson comes across as a great guy and Manley is always a quality interview, especially when asked what his favourite moment at the Circus Tavern was and he replies it was when Adrian Lewis walked off the stage against him.  It's on YouTube and well worth a watch if you've never seen it.  Thought Helen Chamberlain was really good too conducting the interviews.

I was at league darts last night but we had the seniors on the iPad and watching when we weren’t playing. Couldnt take our eyes off the Painter vs O’Shea game for the simple the scoreboard wasn’t showing up. Plus we couldn’t hear anyway so didn’t have a clue what was going on. A different aspect to the darts. The scoreboard only seemed to have worked properly in the last game. What I seen of it was enjoyable, but BBC really did beat ITV in terms of production.

Think she was more pissed than the players. I don’t know how sky haven’t hired or her or at least tried too. She’s a big fan so knows what she’s talking about, is or was county player and would be better than some on there.

Helen Chamberlain used to be on the PDC coverage too years back, but I assume shes thought of as too old by TV people to be involved any more.

I watched the bulk of this, and agree with everything Magnum said. Was a true train wreck in terms of production. I genuinely restarted my Firestick because I thought the connection had messed up. It was like a 480p video on Youtube, which is unforgivable. Sound of the crowd and the darts board were non existant. They should have taken the microphone of Nicholson, who's unbearable and did every bloody match, and chucked it near the stage. Something super strange when watching darts when you cant hear the darts going into the board. The biggest blunder, of course, was the on screen graphics. Painter/OShea, despite being very ropey on the scoring, should have been a very tense and exciting game to watch, but was ruined as you didnt know what their scores were, so were completley taken out of the game. They were missing doubles all over the shop too.

Thornton, despite looking huge, played well and surely will get far in this. I havent seen Fitton for years, but I assume hes too fat and out of shape to do his trademark entrance any more.

Spoiler- Breaking Kayfabe

The should of darts hitting a board these days is faked. Even when you’re chalking a game you don’t hear anything as loud unless you’re throwing darts at a wooden board. What they do is have a sensory board behind the dartboard, when it is triggered by a dart hitting the board, the sound you hear on TV is a sample of a bass/kick drum.

Wayne Mardle denied this was true I think. He claimed it was just a microphone but it's clearly not a natural sound.

Completely forgot about that. I remember her doing the UK Open when it was on sky now I’ve been reminded. I think Phil Taylor was being pervy or weird or both when she interviewed him. As for age. She’s the same age as John Part. I know he’s an ex pro, but she knows enough about the game than some of the commentators on sky and has more charisma than Laura Turner and Emma Paton.

First game this afternoon was a bit of a slog. Terry Jenkins vs Roland Scholten should hopefully be a very decent standard. Looks the standout game of the afternoon session on paper.

Remember when the daft fucker used to think he was CM Punk during his entrances?

His sister was a pornstar too. I think she still does escort work.
