Keith Houchen Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 To be fair, films have always been remade, even back in the 30s. It might seem like a recent thing but it isn't. Quote
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted June 8, 2016 Paid Members Posted June 8, 2016 Doing something new with a classic character isn't the same anyway, it would be like saying no one should make any more James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, Mickey Mouse or Batman things ever again, and a world without Batman things isn't something I want to be a part of. Mr_Danger Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I forgot about that Popeye reboot. He did some sample footage and everything didn't he? A Popeye in the mould of the Tin Tin film would be pretty sweet. Quote

WyattSheepMask Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as Han Solo for the origin film. The new rumour for that film now involves Michael B. Jordan to be cast as Lando Calarissian Quote
handspants Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 The new Ghostbusters Theme music by Fall Out Boy And Missy Elliott: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AQ44nPrRTM I'm a fan of Missy, and bits and bobs of FOB (mainly Sugar You're Going Down or whatever it's called, due to nostalgic reasons) But yeah, that's wank. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 24, 2016 Moderators Posted June 24, 2016 I think it's not too bad. Not something I'm going to be putting on, but a decent theme song for a big blockbuster. I do think they should have just come up with something new though, instead of riffing off the old one. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I think it suffers a lot in comparison to the original. If it had been of equal quality to what it is but had no connection to the original I don't think I'd have found it as awful as I did. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 24, 2016 Moderators Posted June 24, 2016 Yep. That's the double edged sword of coasting off the popularity of an established IP, I guess... Quote
Daaaaaad! Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I think that's what makes it so poor to be honest. They'd be better off just doing something original instead of a double-time Ray Parker Jr. cover. I realise they were always going to take elements of that one and there's nothing wrong with that, but so much of it is just flat out lifted from it. Mind you, I'm concerned that might be exactly what I won't like about the film itself. Quote
Paid Members Nick Soapdish Posted June 26, 2016 Paid Members Posted June 26, 2016 Why is everyone talking about Ray Parker Jr when everyone knows the best Ghostbusters song was Bobby Brown's On Our Own? Quote
Retro Red Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 At least Huey Lewis wont claim credit for this one. Quote
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted June 28, 2016 Paid Members Posted June 28, 2016 I don't know how it escaped me this long but Nicolas Cage has a comedy coming out next year co-starring the mum from the Goldbergs and it's directed by Larry Charles of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Borat fame. There's something to look forward to, I've been waiting for Nic Cage to do another comedy for ages. Quote
