WyattSheepMask
They're making a movie of Tetris  The CEO of the company developing it says; "It's a very big, epic sci-fi movie. This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page"  Fucking hell, I hope it at least has the song in it. Is the idea well really that dry?  Unless they're going to make for loads of old games, in which case I'll except movies for Golden Axe, Streets of Rage 2 and Chuck Rock
Mr_Danger
Isn't Spielberg attached to a Monopoly film?
Loki
The best ending is Millers Crossing. Back to the Status Quo, all achieved by the seemingly cold Tom's (not gay) love for Leo. Good call, great final scene.  Other cracking endings off the top of my head:  Vanishing Point Earthquake Drag Me To Hell Easy Rider The Long Goodbye Chinatown  Those last two are amazing, particularly for Hollywood. Mr_Danger
I was going to suggest Sound of My Voice. Very good ending, sort of in the Take Shelter mould of endings.

Sound Of My Voice was interesting but I didn't think as highly of it as Another Earth, which was a great film with a superb ending. Paid Members Au Posted October 2, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 2, 2014 Speaking of Another Earth, has anyone seen I Know yet? I was at the Stephen Fry thing last night and looking at what else was out and realised the fact it was coming out had completely passed me by. Paid Members Bettencourt Posted October 2, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 2, 2014 How was the Stephen Fry thing last night? I decided at the last minute to give it a miss.
Paid Members Au Posted October 3, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 3, 2014 I really enjoyed it. It was half Stephen Fry rambling and half book reading. The rambling bit was obviously the best part as Fry has such a compendious memory for tidbits of information that he can start off on a subject and go off on tangents whilst remaining utterly fascinating. The book reading was either one long excerpt or three separate ones that lead on nicely from each other.  There were very few moments that I found laugh out loud funny (although there was plenty of laughter from those around me) but he's certainly a captivating speaker. Plus, with an Unlimited card, it was only a fiver online as opposed to £14 or whatever they were asking upfront.  I did go to see The Equaliser straight afterwards to get my fix of actual cinematic action seeing as I was at the cinema. It did exactly what I was expecting (to the point of being a little predictable) in that it was pleasingly violent with the occasional explodey bit. My mates girlfriend did nothing but moan about it afterwards but she thought Under The Skin was the worst film she'd ever seen so I don't think her opinion holds much merit.  Plus it had Moby's cover of New Dawn Fades at the end so it was always going to win brownie points with me on the music front alone. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted October 3, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 3, 2014 I take it Another Earth is worth watching then? I’ve had it there for ages to watch but it’s never really taken preference over anything else for some reason.
Paid Members Au Posted October 3, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 3, 2014 It's very good.  Don't let all the talk about the ending over the last few pages make you think that that's all there is to the film, it tells a great story and everyone puts in brilliant performances.  It does feel a bit indie at times but I'll happily admit that works for me.
Mr_Danger
Watched it this morning and thought it was good. You're right about the ending and the whole sci fi aspect of the film exists to give a twist on what is essentially a drama about loss. I think I'd have been a little disappointed had I read the synopsis and not known about the actual story, like I was when I watched Monsters expecting epic monster fights. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 4, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 4, 2014 I thought Monsters was fantastic. I was really pleased that it was nothing like I expected it to be.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted October 4, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted October 4, 2014 Yeah Monsters was great, the sequel just looks like it's going to be a generic alien action movie though sadly.
