If you could book a feud/match between a wrestler from the past (has to be dead/retired) with someone from the present day, what would you book and why?

Some from me:

Mike Awesome vs Konosuke Takeshita - two of the best big dumb guy wrestlers to have ever lived. It'd be like the Tanaka matches but even crazier.

Bam Bam Bigelow vs Darby Allin - Darby, one of the best underdogs and bumpers against one of the big men of all time, yes please. Bam Bam throwing Darby around while Darby desperately scratches and claws for survival would be absolutely gripping.

Mick Foley vs MJF - essentially a rerun of the Foley/Orton & Edge feuds but MJF is better in ring and on the mic than both of them so this would be a really emotional and gripping feud.

On a similar line, MJF vs Terry Funk would also rule and might be even better than a Foleu feud. I can hear Terry calling young Max a gutless coward in my head perfectly.

Bull Nakano vs Willow Nightingale - Bull's outlandish violent gimmick vs Willow's family friendly loveable act would be a wonderful contrast and the matches would be great.

What you guys got?

Arn and Tully vs The Bucks - Would the Bucks be able to wrestle their usual match? Or is this just going to be a total  clash of styles?

MJF vs Dusty - promos would be fantastic, the match itself could be even better.

Hall and Nash vs Good Brothers (must watch) I mainly put this as for me the Good Brothers are just a much worse version of The Outsiders but I bloody love them.

Stan Hansen vs Darby Allin - Stan would pummel him and Darby would look fantastic bumping around.

Bruiser Brody vs Brody King - big meat match, nice and stiff.

Kenny Omega vs Bret Hart - This could never be bad could it? Bret would be telling everyone that after the match Kenny sought him out with tears in his eyes. Unless Kenny caught Bret with a bad kick in which case Bret would call him a lousy piece of shit for the next 40 years.

These kind of things are always sort of difficult, because the style and pace of wrestling has changed so much, that how would it actually work in practice? Would the Young Bucks be able to do all their stuff against the Midnight Express in the 80s, for example? That being said...

Terry Funk vs Darby Allin would likely be good fun. I'm imagining a more competitive version of Funk and Eddy Guerrero, and Darby selling like crazy for Funk's neckbreaker and piledriver. Promos attached to it would be very strong too.

Zack Sabre Jr would obviously be fantastic against some of the top World of Sport guys, I'd be particularly interested in Steve Grey (which is vaguely possible to have happened already at a Premier Promotions show, but the small window of time for that makes it feel unlikely) and Caswell Martin. Grey is so charismatic as a babyface, and I know Sabre would have been a big fan of his, so combined that with their similar styles, it'd likely be a classic.

There's also a lot of people I wish had worked each other, but were forever in different territories (Terry Funk vs El Hijo del Santo? Yes please) - but that's another thread.

Jon Moxley Vs Volk Han - "So you like a bit of shoot-style, do ya?"

This is more a baptism of fire than an attempt at a great match/feud, but I'd be more than happy if Mox can keep up. A proper battle of the pretender vs a literal God, it'd have to be done in Japan and under RINGS rules so none of this Bloodsport cosplay shit.

Konosuke Takeshita Vs Genichiro Tenryu - "The most violent old man yells at clouds"

This was such a tough choice, I wanted to stay away from the obvious choice of a Pillar of Heaven and had Tenryu, Choshu and Jumbo in mind instead but settled on an older grumpy as fuck Genichiro to attempt to swat down this bothersome fly of the new gen. Takeshita goes over the legend, somehow out striking him in the end.

It speaks to what a talent Darby Allin is that loads of my ones would involve him wrestling big monsters from the past. Darby getting chucked about by Umaga, Psycho Sid or Vader would be tonnes of fun. However, Darby Allin vs. Mike Awesome is the big one. That’s a five star match as soon as they air the graphic promoting it.

I've come up with very little, mainly because I don't find many modern guys as interesting as the guys the old-timers actually wrestled.

Bryan Danielson is the exception. I'd absolutely love to see him work Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart and Randy Savage. Just dropping him into 1994 WWF on either side of the fence would be job done. Swap him for Jeff Jarrett. Bryan would work great with Razor & Diesel too.

I was curious about this, as I don't think Zack has wrestled that many of the old World of Sport guys, and you'd think at various points it would have been an obvious choice for a promoter to put something like that together. Cagematch has one match with Johnny Kidd refereed by Steve Grey, and that's all. Only one match with James Mason, too.

On the British side of things, I know Loch Ness was a disaster, but I would have been curious to see Haystacks have a proper run in the US when he was closer to his prime. As a monster of the month for Hogan, Dusty, or for Lawler in Memphis, he could have been fantastic. Not so much Past vs. Present, as two bits of the Past that never met, though.

Surfer Sting vs. Brock Lesnar I think could have been fantastic; similar to Sting/Vader, I just think they would work fantastically together.

Something I always said about Brodie Lee was that he was a wrestler you could have slotted into almost any time and place and he'd have found a spot; him and Bruiser Brody against the Funks in AJPW, Brodie Lee vs. Lawler in Memphis, vs. Undertaker in the mid-90s, Austin in the Attitude Era, any of that would have worked.

Going the other route, and thinking of someone from the past to bring forward in time, I'm a huge fan of Edouard Carpentier, particularly as he got older and became more of a routine man. This version of Carpentier vs. Orange Cassidy is money:

My favourite wrestling of all time is late 80s to late 90s All Japan Pro Wrestling. My second favourite is probably 2010's New Japan Pro Wrestling.

If I was some sort of all powerful super-being (I have to be clear here - I am not!) , I would love to have the likes of prime Jumbo, Tenryu, Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi, Akiyama, Taue mix it up with Tanahashi, Okada, Nakamura, Ishii, Naito etc. The number of Budokan and Tokyo Dome filling main events you could get out of that, not to mention all the tags and trios.

Ideally some inter-promotional bollocks to increase the HEAT~! I always loved it when the likes of Liger or Nagata would show up in NOAH and wrestle as arrogant, prick heels. You just got such a different dynamic that way.

Toss some of the top gaijin into the mix as well. Imagine 1993 Stan Hansen vs 2013 Tanahashi for example.

2003 Hollywood Rock vs Rey Mysterio would have been great craic on the mic and the matches would have been good fun. Rock taking the piss out of Rey, only for Rey to sneak a win and Rock being even more prick-ish would be like a better version of what we got with the Rock/Hurricane mini feud.

Bryan vs Angle was another match I always wanted to see, but Kurt was a wreck by the time Bryan had risen to the top.

"Rollerball" Rocco vs. Bryan Danielson would have been a lot of fun, I think. Both very good at pacing, and both knew/know how to make their stuff look like it really hurt.

Darby Allin vs. Sabu (if it hasn't already happened) would have been a manic sprint of a clusterfuck.

Samoa Joe vs. Vader would most likely have been a load of clubberin' fun. Or Joe vs. Bam Bam.

As a feud, Raven (prime) vs. Hangman Page might have been worth watching.
