RedTwoster Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I know that @HarmonicGenerator and I have had frequent problems with the new MyAEW service (specifically with it freezing very, very frequently when watching on an Apple device - what should be the most convenient way of watching shows for me), but I wanted to get a general take on how the service has been for you. Do you like it? Have you had issues? Of the new shows/companies being added, are there any hidden gems/recommendations you have? I’m starting this in part because I legitimately do think there’s a decent chance people from AEW lurk on this forum, and I’m hoping that by drawing their attention to the issues, they’ll be fixed more quickly. But y’know, share whatever recommendations etc that you like. I’d be interested in checking them out, if I ever get the damn service working properly. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 It won't play through the browser on my TV, so I binned it off. I could stream from my phone and cast to the TV, but the extra step annoyed me. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted July 17 Posted July 17 (edited) Not having apps for Games consoles and Smart TV brands is a bit negative at this point. In this day & age of streaming, that should’ve been one of the first things they had sorted at launch. Once they added the Roku app things became much easier to view, as casting to a Roku prior to that seems to have a lot of glitching & lag. The ‘Continue Watching’ could be improved as it seems to be a bit pot luck at the moment. Sometimes I’ve had shows pick up where I left off while other times it’s just restarted from the beginning and I’ve had to find where I got to Edited July 17 by WyattSheepMask Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted July 17 Awards Moderator Posted July 17 I find it incredibly frustrating to use. The constant freezing, which prevents me from getting into any show, or any single match. If I'm very lucky I can go 30-40 minutes without a freeze, but recent episodes of TV have had it happen multiple times a minute. There's no reason I can find for why - I've got to the point of turning off all other devices that might be using the internet to try and give it uninterrupted service, but that doesn't make any difference, I've tried multiple spots around the flat to make sure there's no wall or cupboard between me and the router, doesn't make a difference - and I just want to watch AEW on the iPad. It's not even easy to get it started again. Sometimes you can just refresh and it comes back, although you have to unmute the sound. Sometimes you have to go back one or two screens and click back into it again. Sometimes you have to refresh twice, turn the wifi off, turn it back on again, click back twice then one more refresh. It's really irritating but I don't see a way round it other than waiting for ITV (and it's not like ITVX is the best of streaming services - that's the reason I switched from watching on there to Fite/Triller in 2021/2/whenever it was). Casting to the TV isn't an option for me if I want to watch a show in one or two goes, and I tried downloading the Roku app and I don't think that's the way round it for me either. They have my money. I just wish they'd give me what I paid for. An uninterrupted stream shouldn't be beyond them like this. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 (edited) I've only ever used it on my Android phone and never watched anything live but have had zero issues with it. Never a single freeze. My main annoyance is the minutes of dead air at the start of every episode. The general interface is fine but could be a bit better. Like have the latest episode highlighted at the top rather than having to scroll down every time. Generally I'm happy with it. Edited July 17 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 I haven't had many issues with it; the odd freezing, but not nearly as bad as it has been for other people. I agree that the biggest drawback is not having a proper app; at the moment, I watch Dynamite on my second monitor while I'm working on a Thursday morning. But if I want to watch a PPV, I'm still buying it through Prime so I can just watch it via the PS5 app; my laptop is set up on my desk, plugged into the monitor, speakers, webcam, microphone, keyboard, etc. etc., so I'd rather not unplug everything to move it through to the living room to try and connect via HDMI or casting or whatever every time I want to watch AEW. I am fundamentally lazy with this stuff. It's the same with Spotify; the main reason I haven't abandoned it for a more ethical streaming service is that it has the PS5 app. Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 (edited) I've no issues with the playback on the Roku app and it seems easy enough to use, but I'm still annoyed about the initial roll-out where they said in the press release it's available on Roku, except it actually wasn't for about 2 months. Then on the MyAEW website they had two separate FAQ sections with one saying 'The Roku app is in development' and the other saying 'available on Roku now' which just confused matters. When I saw the initial press release I immediately cancelled my Triller subscription, so then to find out it wasn't actually available on Roku (and couldnt re-subscribe to Triller as they stopped new subscriptions) was very frustrating. The shitty roll-out has actually lost them a viewer here, as the 2 month gap in me being able to watch AEW lead to me losing interest* and even now it's available on Roku I’m struggling to find the motivation to tune in again. And I'd previously watched everything they had done, so it's not like I was looking for an excuse to stop. *It's not just this - the 'Hangman is friends with a nonce' situation has also soured me on the promotion - but the Roku debacle is definitely part of it too. BrodyGraham Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I bought a cheap Roku stick expressly for myAEW and it's been really good. No freezing or buffering and really good picture quality. Better than triller by a country mile. Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 The picture quality is far superior to Triller. I watch on my smart TV (Google based) app and it’s pretty much perfect. On the IPad app it’s been occasionally glitchy. Same via web browser. But it’s definitely an improvement on Triller for me. Quote
FTR2020 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I use it on my Amazon Firestick and had the odd issue when trying to load up the app but nothing like the rest of you. I haven't had chance to watch any of the other promotions stuff but I definitely want to watch the Maple Leaf Pro stuff. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted July 17 Paid Members Posted July 17 I was looking at the year subscription but the wording indicates not everything is on there? Like selected ppvs and tv. Is this definitely the case? Quote

Like selected ppvs and tv. Is this definitely the case? I think that the way that was worded was just reflective of what was available at the time of launch. All the PPVs are on there now as far as I can tell, whereas the TV still has gaps in that you have Dynamite from 2019 to 2021 and then 2025 to the present and Collision is 2025 to the present. Dark is being uploaded daily with a new episode and Rampage is on there but I can’t remember when that started & finished so can’t say how much is there/missing Edited July 17 by WyattSheepMask Quote
FTR2020 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 It's a shame that Tony doesn't put all of the old ROH shows on MYAEW. I also would love him to do a deal with Excabilur for the PWG tape library. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Watch MyAEW content on Firestick, and have had barely any issues, since launch. As for non AEW content. I've quite enjoyed what I've watched of 1FW, need to catch up on a few episodes. Quote
