Sheffbag Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Gunther and Aldis will be great. They could really build Aldis up if allowed to say he is a former champion and get some NWA footage or the footage from Cody/Aldis instead of just generic jacked up GM vs bully Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted July 27 Paid Members Posted July 27 Saturday and Sunday match days have been announced. There's still hope for Oba to come out Sunday evening and cash his shot in right after the main event right? Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted July 27 Posted July 27 He doesn't have a shot to cash in, does he? That's not how that works, surely? Not every title shot is Money In The Bank? Quote

Not every title shot is Money In The Bank? When he won King of the Ring it was for a title match at SummerSlam though wasn't it? Which he then gave up to fight Brock because he knew he'd interfere anyhow. I just have a feeling that Oba will find a way into a Sunday night title match. 24 years after Brock won the title at SummerSlam as The Next Big Thing, they probably need something to keep Heyman on TV, Brock gets beat and following evening the new Paul Heyman Guy arrives. DavidB6937 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 It'll work however they want it to work. It's never been clearly defined whether he forgoes his title shot, or he can claim it whenever, or if he has to go and have a chat with Adam who then goes through the big bosses and then films some stuff for Unreal and then once they've licked each other's arses he can have the shot. Oba can beat Brock in the opener, Roman can beat Seth (obv), and then just as the credits come up they can hit Oba’s music for him to have the match he earned. It’s not how I’d do it, this whole thing is a muddled mess and winning in that cheeky Money in the Bank way always undermines a babyface’s Title victory, but knowing how they book? And knowing how this can be used to protect Roman? Wouldn’t shock me at all. Even in my maddest fantasy booking I didn’t expect Roman and Seth to headline Night Two over Punk and Cody, but yeah. I’m now more convinced than ever this is what they’re going to do. Oba beats Brock on Night One, then “cashes in,” on Night Two to leave with the belt. Roman loses the belt, acts like he’s, “doing business,” but also saves face by having to wrestle twice in one night. Either way, there’s clearly huge politics at play here. There’s no other reason that could possibly explain why Roman and Seth are closing Night Two. It’s not even in the same league as Cody vs. Punk. Maybe The Rock and Pat McAfee’s scheduled meant they could only appear on one specific night? I saw this graphic floating about the other day, of all of Baron Corbin’s Summerslam matches. You forget how long Corbin’s been knocking about, stinking the joint out. Decade of Disappointment. Edited July 27 by Supremo Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted July 27 Paid Members Posted July 27 Has any wrestler ever had such a sequence of dreadful looks as Corbin there? 5 different looks, all terrible. The best one was the one where he was trying to look shit. Quote

Paid Members RedTwoster Posted July 27 Paid Members Posted July 27 That's the strangest possible division of matches. I would never have imagined they'd close night 2 with Roman/Rollins, unless they have something big planned for after the match. I hope that's not Oba winning the belt, it would be a very weak way to put the title on your new, unstoppable(ish) monster. And if that is the plan, I could absolutely see them having Lesnar win, as they often do when a title win is imminent; thinking that erases the losses beforehand. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 There's a fairly decent 1 nighter in there if you take the best bits, but yeah seeing all that divided up.. absolutely no need for it. Quote

This image sums up my pet hate with SummerSlam which I’m sure the average fan doesn’t even care about. But when did the PPV named after the hottest and brightest season, in the hottest and most sun kissed month start using a grey logo with black backgrounds. It’s SummerSlam for gosh sakes - feel the heat, nuptials to napalm, the graphics should look “hot” Quote
