SaitoRyo Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Will they allow Mr. Levesque to appear in a defenceless or vulnerable position this time? Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 To be honest, it's a really good idea to revisit the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars. The technology has come so far, I think they've got a great opportunity to recreate some of the most iconic moments in WWF/WCW history. HHH and Mike Tyson brawl. HHH beats Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania. HHH gives everyone a beer bath. HHH throws Mankind off Hell in a Cell. HHH has his title win spoiled by Tony Schiavone. Quote

Mankind being thrown off the cell is in one of the trailers, so I'm assuming he's still in, though he isn't in any of the roster lists I've seen. At one point, after realising that you almost certainly can't use Vince McMahon, Sting, possibly Mick Foley, Edge & Christian, maybe not the Hardys, Big Show, possibly Ric Flair, and probably Chris Jericho, would you just give up on making a Monday Night Wars themed game in the first place? I was just thinking about Smackdown on the PS1 was what got me back into wrestling, and how the equivalent would be that game being released with Haystacks Calhoun, Ernie Ladd and Bobo Brazil on the cover. And a video campaign in which The Grand Wizard convinced Vince McMahon Sr. that he should be the featured attraction on the special edition. Quote

NeverYield Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Haven't played a console in years but I would definitely be up for playing this. Quote
thatvinylgeek Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Sigh...give it a rest guys. You all know this isn't the actual cover right!? These are just for the digital versions! It has been widely rumoured that the physical version will have CM Punk on the cover; Hugging and pointing at HHH. Quote
Chico Torres Posted January 27 Posted January 27 In recent weeks we have seen footage of the Battle of the Quebecers, the Battle of Tekno Team 2000 and the Battle of the Shoguns (Hakushi and Kwang). I want a game that captures these tag team explosions and more, there’s a market for those of us who want to be able to play Mo vs Mabel, Timothy Well vs Steven Dunn and of course Dr Tom Pritchard vs the Gigolo Jimmy Del Rey (with sexy dance taunt). Enough of this attitude era shite and let’s go back to when wrestling was good. (in fairness these games may exist, I think the last wrestling game I owned was on the Atari ST and I’m one of those annoying parents who refuses to get a console for my kids) Quote
theringmaster Posted January 27 Posted January 27 This video game feels like the Mr Burns film in the Simpsons, complete with Pritchard saying they are in fact saying boo-urns. I loved 2k24, thought 2k25 was just one giant cash grab and now this feels like one huge vanity project for Triple H. Even if it wasn't his idea (which we all know it was), any sane person would go 'Hang on, being on the front of 3 different covers is a bit extreme, drop one lads'. 4 Editions and only one features a current 'Superstar' as the cover star. That is depressing. Should have had Attitude edition, Cody Edition, Ripley edition then standard. (swap Cody for Reigns, rollins etc and Ripley for Charlotte, Becky etc if you want). Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 27 Paid Members Posted January 27 (edited) given the last game had - once you factored in DLC - Booker T, The New Age Outlaws, Bret Hart, British Bulldog, the Dudleys, Cactus Jack, Mankind, Dude Love, Mick Foley, Chyna, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Eric Bischoff, Faarooq, Goldberg, The Headbangers, Hollywood Hogan, Kane, Ken Shamrock, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Lex Luger, Randy Savage, Lita, Mark Henry, The Steiners, Rocky Maivia, Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels, Sid, Steve Austin, Syxx, Terry Funk, The Rock, Triple H, Trish Stratus, The Undertaker, Vader and X-Pac in it, how does an "Attitude Era" or "Monday Night Wars" edition even offer anything new anyway? Every name already announced was in the previous game, and most of them have been in every game for years. Nobody is getting excited that they can still play as Kane. If you follow the usual logic that Hall of Fame inductees tend to get included in the next game, then the only potential new faces are The Natural Disasters, Michelle McCool and, if they go near the Legacy wing, Kamala, Dory Funk Sr., and Ivan Koloff. None of them exactly scream "Attitude Era!". So we're down to hoping we get Boss Man and Steve Blackman? I'm curious if there's any TNA representation - I've seen people talking about that as almost guaranteed, but I wouldn't be so sure. The Dudleys are one of the cover art mock-ups, and so is Lita, but no Hardy Boyz; if TNA were heavily featured, you'd think they would be a day one addition. I suppose there's a chance of using them as the main draw for a TNA DLC pack, though that means they can't lean too heavily on Dudleys/Hardys stuff in any kind of Showcase mode or whatever they might do with the Attitude Era stuff - they won't do TLC, because they don't have Edge & Christian, but they could do something with the Rumble 2000 Tables match. Same goes for AAA; it wouldn't be a unit-shifter, but it would be a fun novelty to have some AAA names padding out the roster, and they could always pretend that the current La Parka was in WCW to get more into the Monday Night Wars theme, and could involve Konnan in that. But then, I've thought since they purchased AAA that they were mad to immediately start making it look more and more like WWE, because they could have done something with the six-sided ring as an option in this game (and if there is any chance of them having TNA on-board, can lean on that history to do more with it too). Basically, if it were up to me, I'd be going WCW vs. The World on this one, and making it WWE + anyone else they can flesh out the world with, rather than the same old line-up of "Legends" and nineteen versions of Triple H.
