Paid Members Kamran Posted January 24 Author Paid Members Posted January 24 AJ Styles vs Nakamura has been added too. It should start around 1am: Quote
Merzbow Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Will they finally have a good WWE match? I'm curious to actually watch if they can live up to that Wrestle Kingdom banger. Quote

They had their best WWE match, at least. I’ve not seen their match(es?) in New Japan, but for me this was significantly better than their previous bouts in WWE. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 25 Paid Members Posted January 25 Nakamura reportedly trying is the biggest indicator yet that AJ’s losing next week. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted January 25 Posted January 25 That and spoiling it on his Instagram post that AJ is infact retiring next week. Quote

Correct. But since that relationship has improved he’s been allowed to go. Good on WWE doing the un WWE thing of letting the hometown hero get the win. I’m still angry they failed to at the Elimination Chamber there before Mania 39 (though I understand why). Very good AJ/Nakamura match. Best they have had together outside NJPW. Quote
Paid Members waters44 Posted January 25 Paid Members Posted January 25 I think Michael Cole even said last night it was AJ’s last match next week but I could be wrong Anyway for WWE standards what a fucking good show that was. Great brawl to open. The security were a bit handsy for my liking and I’m surprised Fatu didn’t chin one of them but I understand why they do it. The women’s tag match was excellent~~!! I absolutely loved it and thought it was really laid out so fair play. I know I’m the only one banging this drum but thank fuck the ref delayed the three when Ripley was late to break up the pin. We would have missed out on a banger of a match. My favourite match of the night and I think I’d go 4.5 on it. An almost perfect WWE tag match The AJ Styles match was another great showing and not the sort of thing you see much in WWE these days which is a shame. Styles cranking on the calf cutter was awesome and that knee to Nakamura’s chin made my chin hurt. 4 Main event was pretty good but didn’t really hit any high points. Nothing offensive and the numerous back drops on the announce table from good ol Randy was quite nice. I’ll be generous as the show put me in a good mood and go 3.5 But yeah the show blew my expectations out of the water and I definitely recommend it Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Definitely the most enjoyable SNME top to bottom for me in a while. Everything delivered. I like that Drew is champ because it makes Sami winning feel like an actual possibility which it wouldnt have against Cody. Quote
Merzbow Posted January 25 Posted January 25 53 minutes ago, RedTwoster said: I’ve not seen their match(es?) in New Japan It's worth looking up but I actually thought AJ had a better battle with Suzuki earlier on in the run, short, sweet and suprisingly American feeling even though it dips into shoot-style territory. They purposely clash styles in a way I never really see working but this came out as a 5 Brets out of 5. Anyway, back to SNME and yeah they had a belter here, happy to leave this as my quota of 1 WWE match to watch this year. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted January 25 Paid Members Posted January 25 I can’t believe the “ref getting pulled out” spot got wheeled out in two matches. And neither directly preceded the finish. 2 hours ago, RedTwoster said: They had their best WWE match, at least. I'm curious to actually watch if they can live up to that Wrestle Kingdom banger. It was never happening. Context is king and the buzz going in for two of the big 4 to finally wrestle, combined with where it sat on THAT card created something that could never be lived up to. Quote
Doog Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Great show that, really enjoyable. Glad Sami won, means we can get his title shot out the way next week, he can lose and gets him out the way so the real stars face off for WrestleMania. Drew was great again, he's been insanely good rhe last couple of years, probably the most reliable wrestler out of everyone at the minute, he ticks all the boxes and he bloody deserves it. That WrestleMania main event of Drew/Fatu/Cody looking more likely by the minute and im here for it. Quote
