SoloJones Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It's hardly the biggest compliment since I've not seen loads of wrestling lately but I thought AJ and Nakamura was one of the best matches I've watched in ages. Might be partly the shock of Nakamura putting a shift in, no advert breaks to ruin the flow, etc, but it had me gripped even if the result was fairly obvious going in. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 26 Paid Members Posted January 26 (edited) Shockingly good show*. I almost don’t want to say it out loud and jinx it, but is WWE good again in 2026? Was Triple H visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve or something? This has been a wildly solid start to the year, especially considering what an absolute shit show 2025 was. Cody and Jacob Fatu going full Mankind-and-Triple-H-at-Candian-Stampede in that wild opening brawl. Best indication yet that people in this company are listening to and watching along with the Benno and Hamflett In Your House podcast. Would also explain Triple H suddenly slagging off Ahmed Johnson in recent interviews. Let it go, Hunter. Facts are facts. If injuries hadn’t sidelined him, Ahmed would’ve been the biggest star in the sport, would’ve ended up shagging Stephanie and would probably be running the gaff nowadays. Everyone would be wearing ten knee pads. The true blueprint. Hunter could only dream of being Ahmed Johnson. Best Jacob has looked in at least a year. As much as I enjoy a chubby wrestler, Jacob looked fantastic for getting into Main Eventer shape, going absolutely fucking nuts. Moonsault completely misses Cody? Doesn’t matter. Makes perfect sense that this maniac doesn’t care who he hits. That time off for dental treatment is the best thing that could have happened to Fatu. Feels like a completely different wrestler to how he was suffering from the typical Game Show Hostification after turning babyface last Summer. Cracking angle with Drew, too. Every time Meltzer has mentioned the possibility of Cody vs. Drew or a Cody/Drew/Fatu Triple Threat at Wrestlemania I’ve just assumed he’d been fed duff information because neither felt Wrestlemania worthy. That all changed here. This was white hot. You have to give them credit when they deserve it. They took something unappealing and made me want to see it. Fair play. Fun women’s tag. A huge shame they screwed up that one near fall because it killed quite a lot of momentum, but they managed to get it back by the end. I’d forgotten how much I love Liv Morgan. She should be the favourite for the Royal Rumble. Nakamura?! Putting some fucking effort in?! Unbelievable, Jeff! Cracking little match with AJ Styles. Nice for them to finally have a good match in WWE before AJ retires. I’ll never understand what the fuck happened during all those awful matches in 2018. I suspect Nakamura will now treat himself to another three years of doing fuck all as a reward. Surf’s up! It does make me wonder though. If AJ wants to right some wrongs before he retires, surely he can’t retire without having an actual good in-ring match at Wrestlemania? Surely he can’t be satisfied with his only above average Wrestlemania performance being a pre-recorded episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with The Undertaker? For that reason alone, I’m predicting AJ Styles beats Gunther on Saturday, only for Gunther to win The Rumble, with them eventually returning to this feud and going Title vs. Career later in the year. Gunther vs. Sami for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania? Playing off their amazing Intercontinental Match a few years ago? Works for me. Fun main event, with the right result. Obviously nowhere near the level of Elimination Chamber 2023, but still. I’ll take what I can get. Another year, another Royal Rumble where I’m hoping one of my boys wins the big one. Kevin Owens was robbed last year. Sami’s gonna do it this year. Kevin’s gonna give him a hug afterwards. Let’s go! It’s the hope that kills you. *For transparency, I fast-forwarded any time Stephanie McMahon was onscreen, because fuck off. This show may have been much worse if you chose to suffer through that ghoul waffling on, but then you get what you deserve. Edited January 26 by Supremo Quote
