Whatever it is, it's bloody awful. That JR "heel" promo, that the crowd fucking love, is so good. That it sets up the debut of a fake Razor Ramon is one of wrestling's biggest dichotomy's. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 15, 2025 Author Members Posted August 15, 2025 OK, actually put on IYH 6 this time @The Gaffer you are right, it looks dreadful! I can't remember if I've ever seen Yokozuna cut a promo (I must've done) but that was pretty good. Bulldog being given a jobbers entrance, sad for old Davey. His tights are awful as well. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 It's definitely an event where you get the feeling the party is ending. Lots of guys who wouldn't be around much longer. Davey's tights, sans frills, look like they're from the same design of those workout singlets guys were wearing at the time. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 15, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 15, 2025 Doesn't that have the crybaby match on it which helped push Razor into deciding to fuck off? Quote

Aha, that's the one! 11 looks fine but the JR angle absolutely pisses all over what should be a neat little historical first PPV encounter between Austin and Triple H in one of those dull men's 'fundamentally sound, no flashy shit' matches that I really like. And the Diesel vs Bret cage match which Nash says led to him making the decision to leave as well, because Bret didn’t wanna take the Jackknife and appear to be a beaten man before Taker interfered or some shite. I watched a clip of Nash on his podcast the other day where he was on about how him and Hall left. Think he said him and Hall’s WWF contracts were up within six days of each other, which is mad to think about really. Nash himself said that if it wasn’t for that, them both being free to go to WCW within a week of each other, the Outsiders couldn’t have been a thing and who knows how that would’ve effected everything else. Just one of those coincidental things that would’ve seemed insignificant at the time that they signed those WWF contracts in 93/94 or whenever, but became a massive piece of the puzzle in 96. davertfnewman Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 The Kid was off to join them as well as Ted Dibiase. Tatanka was brought back to do some jobs and was soon done. Yoko was pretty much sacrificed to get Vader over, while battling with his weight. Bret himself was about to take a sabbatical. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 15, 2025 Author Members Posted August 15, 2025 I'll be honest, as someone who has never liked Diesel, I cannot wait for him to sod off. He's the main focus of pretty much every IYH until he leaves. It seems like it's his show. Him choking Hebner at 7 was fantastic though. Should've done it for longer in my opinion. Very decent match as well, but wrestlers putting on belts/holding them up when they're not the champ is such small dick energy. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 15, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 15, 2025 7 has one of the all-time worst segments on a PPV, the Warrior vs Goldust 'match'. Put me off cigars for life. Quote

Bret couldn’t get his head round two finishes in consecutive PPVs where he’d have lost the title because he took either man’s finish but the other interfered, when he was meant to be champion. Shawn says Kev’s exact words when Bret asked to change the finish was “Motherfucker, not everything is about you!” Personally, I take Bret’s side. The whole promotion from Survivors onwards was about making it all about HBK and making Bret look a lame duck. The Crybaby match is one of the reasons I considered Kid for the “disappointing heel run” thread. Turned heel on the Intercontinental champion, a major babyface player. Was supposed to be tag champions again before Sid lay down for Bob Holly in New Haven then decided to just go home, covered in talc a month later, wrestling his last matches in the WWF two month after that. Unbelievable downturn. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I think it's actually Nash who attributes those words to Undertaker. Nevertheless, they're still wrong. Quote

wordsfromlee Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I think my favourite bit of watching these In Your House shows is the bit where Todd Pettengill advertises the merch. I'd kill for some of it. Quote
