Paid Members Supremo Posted September 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 17, 2025 An absolutely wild moment covered on the most recent episode of Benno & Hamflett In Your House that I’d never seen or heard of before. Covering In Your House 11, Buried Alive, they made mention of the Shawn Michaels vs. Goldust dark match that was released online years later, where half way through Shawn Michaels spits in a heckler’s face! It happens at around seven minutes in, after Shawn takes a bump throat first onto the barricade. Your World Champion Top Babyface, there. Gozzing in a fan’s face at point blank range. There’s almost an artistry to it. It cannot be overstated what a fucking nightmare 1990s Shawn Michaels was to anyone who came near him. Quote

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted September 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 17, 2025 Yeah I only saw that myself very recently on a clip on Twitter. 90s Shawn is the biggest bellend going. You could probably count on one hand the people in that locker room at the time who didn’t despise him. And even then, some of them probably just tolerated him because it benefited them. Or in Vince’s case, were in love with him. If they were still in the phase of putting the bonus matches on the In Your House VHS tapes by late 96 they’d have had to have edited that shit out. The Shawn Michaels title run in 96 is fascinating to me because you can almost see him falling apart more and more under the pressure as the months go by. Started off as the smiley babyface champ but even as early as the April IYH when he beat Diesel, the mask slipped a tad when he was visibly having a bit of a strop in the ring after the match because his two buddies were going to WCW. Then there was obviously his mini tantrum in the Vader match at SummerSlam and the above example of him spitting on the fan in the Buried Alive dark match. The whole time you could tell he absolutely hated having Jose Lothario around and by the time he got to MSG for Survivor Series and was heavily booed in favour of Sid, he looked like he’d been awake 48 hours straight. They probably did him a favour taking the belt off him when they did. Quote

The Gaffer Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 (edited) It goes to show how genuinely brilliant the fed could be at protecting the next top star that I bought hook, line and sinker that Shawn Michaels was basically the most wholesome, bestest guy in the world from December 95 - April 96. The handling of him - right down to the promo vignettes etc - during that time done an unbelievable job of not letting slip that he was the biggest gobshite walking. Members SuperBacon Posted October 19, 2025 Author Members Posted October 19, 2025 The crowd at International Incident for the main event are at fever pitch. Canadian crowds were/are brilliant. When Shawn comes out, he nearly causes a riot. He is so over its ridiculous. Also, look at the outfits here. That airbrushed shirt Ahmed is wearing is absolutely fantastic. Would buy. Quote

I think that's the one where the guardrail collapses isn't it. Sid's 96 run is such a treat. He's SO over. People just love the master in that run. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted October 19, 2025 Shawn’s ring gear was top tier in 96/97. Was also a fan of the red and blue variants of these in the summer of 96 as well. Although the blue ones are basically a poor man’s, inferior version of his SummerSlam 95 kegs. The red/white ones against Bulldog at One Night Only and the white/gold ones against Sid at Survivor Series were cool as well. Shawn was spending some dough on his gear back then. Gear of all kinds. simonworden Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 With that behaviour in mind, I always found it interesting/surprising at KOTR 97 when the barricades coke down and the young fan with a learning difference is beinganhamdled by security that Shawn goes out his way to make sure he isn't harmed. Yeah, I mean you have to look at it like this. Shawn's a cunt in that time, but that kid was obviously different case and I think the security were at fault with how they were handling him at ringside, which Shawn clearly sees and because he's actually such a hot head at the time, he actually does get involved. I think it's partly because it's a distraction to them trying to get on with their job and Shawn not wanting to see the kid being manhandled and getting him help. Plus Shawn COULD do that given his character (not the guy personally) was all big with his kliq and what have you. Austin, even if he wanted to, would have looked very odd doing it. I know that probably reads weird but it makes sense to me. Edited October 20, 2025 by Chili Quote

An easy mistake to make when talking about HBK in 97. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 HBK was a cunt but he wasn't evil. The little lad needed help, It was nice to see HBK help him Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted October 27, 2025 Author Members Posted October 27, 2025 Shawn coming out for comms at It's Time in full on 'out of his box' mode. Looks like shit and sounds like shit, a proper haggard appearance. The state of Undertaker vs the Executioner, a truly awful match, and every time I see them I'm reminded of how embarrassing fake Razor and Diesel are, just a hilarious decision to do it. Bret vs Sid was good though. Quote
