Yes! I thought this was the case.

The live showings by WWF/Sky seemed to go come and go didn't they? I remember watching WM 9 live on Sky Sports but then all PPV's were delayed a few days until, from memory, Survivor Series 94. Wrestlemania 12 was definately shown live but I'm pretty sure they stopped again by 1997.

I recall from those early IYH events were there were usually extended highlights on WWF Mania or Action Zone the following weekend. 

Its funny how in 1995/1996 I was basically the only one of my mates still watching wrestling and it was hard to escape the glaring reality that wrestling was far from cool now and that star power and the general product was pretty fucking shit. (That face Fatu run... fucking hell).

Yet now the new generation era carries a hell of a lot of fuzzy nostalgia.

When the WWF Network came out I did a 1995 and 1996 Raw watch through and its actually aged better then I expected.
 

Stuff like the Diesel heel turn in late 95, his ‘shoot style’ promo and outing Vince as the man running the show, giving Undertaker the middle finger at the Rumble and Raw magazine coming out were definitely precursors to Attitude that don’t immediately come to mind considering how bad I remember 1995 being while watching at the time.

Looking back I’d have appreciated it more at the time had I not spent the New Generation years in the forlorn hope that Hulk, Randy Savage and all the proper stars from pre-1992 would just come back and reclaim their rightful place from these B listers.

I've given that Benno & Hamplett podcast a go and it's a fun listen, but to be honest it's just made me want to do a proper relisten to the New Gen Project pod. Genuinely one of the best wrestling podcast series that was ever put out, just a brilliantly funny and extremely well researched series.

Savio was a decent hand and in retrospect the feud with Austin was good midcard fodder but I have to agree that he didn’t make the best first impression, chubby short fucker who didn’t have anywhere near the sartorial splendour of Beppe but looked like a fat uncle wearing an Under Armor tank top because he thinks it makes him look more athletic.

Similar to when he made his debut at Royal Rumble 94 as Kwang and we had been promised a new deadly ninja leading up to the show and then this tubby little cunt shows up and somehow he was the worst thing on a show that featured Marty Janetty dressed up in Undertakers keks and descending to heaven.

That's what's happened to me. I enjoy Benno and Hamflett, now I've got used to the fact that Michael is a big "fed" cunt and likes to throw around that "boom period" lie @Supremokeeps peddling. But between those two lads and all the New Gen content on the Vault, it's had me listening to the New Gen pod again. Mad that the first episode was 12 years ago though.

I think, sorry to divert from the main chat I don't like about the Benno podcast is their both very knowledgeable and therefore I don't enjoy them as much. With NGP you had Stu as the well researched lead and two very different co-hosts and it just makes things more enjoyable. The laconic pace also makes their rather long episodes fly by, you want to stick around with them.

123 Kid vs The Roadie from In Your House 2. This was utterly insane considering it’s 1995 WWF and just an undercard match that wasn’t important in the grand scheme of things. Not to mention, wasn’t Kid coming off a neck injury around this time? What the fuck were they playing at?

I've started watching them in order and I'm up to 3 so far.

I find it mad that they put the title on Diesel rather than Razor Ramon around this time. The crowd love Hall and he's a loads better wrestler than Nash. The Razor Ramon gimmick is so much cooler than "I'm a big lorry. Brum, brum!"

Waylon Mercy is absolute dog dirt. I'm surprised Vince didn't fire him on the spot after his match at IYH3 considering the amount of shit he gave him on commentary. He retired a month later, due to embarrassment most likely.

I think it's easily the worst WWE PPV ever. I think it's probably still their worst PPV ever even if you include WWECW shows. I can't think of a WCW, TNA or AEW PPV that's worse, only including the era when TNA was a proper promotion and not a feeder camp. So probably the most worthless mainstream company PPV ever taped.

I'll still watch it at least twice before rewatching anything from the last 20 years, if I'm completely honest, and then still complain that it's absolutely shit. Great era though. Not for any right reasons.

A show with two of the most infamous moments of Wrestlecrap ever. Garbage, yes. Worthless? No. Wrestling as a stupid artform is poorer without that show.
