Chili Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Of the three hour WWF/E PPV's then surely it's King of the Ring '95 or Great American Bash 2004. Quote
Chico Torres Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 I’m willing to be the KOTR 95 defender since I watched it again recently for no real reason for maybe the first time in 30 years…and it’s honestly not that bad. The tournament matches are perfectly fine even with the excessive Fat Beppe, Bret vs Lawler is entertaining nonsense and Diesel and Bigelow vs Sid and Tatanka isn’t bad. Better than Wrestlemania 12 and 16 and I’m sure there’s some other Russo shit. Quote

A dreadful show but again, the top two matches are utterly infamous. I think it has a couple of OK matches that put it well above IYH 4 but it would also be a loss to wrestling history as a show, whereas IYH 4 could just never have happened. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted July 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 22, 2025 (edited) @Chico Torres Not having that. There’s nothing on KOTR 95 that’s better than the Hardys vs Dudleys vs Edge and Christian ladder match from WrestleMania 16. And even WrestleMania 12 has its redeeming qualities like the Piper vs Goldust silliness, Warrior’s spectacular squashing of Triple H and Austin’s first Mania. KOTR 95 is just sludge. No Owen, no Bulldog, no Razor, no Kid, no Jarrett, no Lex. But lots and lots of Savio Vega. And the two guys who could’ve saved it - Bret they put in a comedy match and 1995 Shawn they booked in a 15 minute draw against Kama Godshango. Useless. I will nominate WCW Battlebowl 93 for the worst PPVs ever pile though. Absolute rotten show which didn’t have one match that was worth a shite and didn’t really advance anything or have any point to it. Just the nothing happeningest of nothing happening shows. It has a hard time beating Fall Brawl in the boredom stakes. Some right crap like Charlie Norris vs Big Sky, and even the matches that sound like they should be good - Ricky Steamboat vs Steven Regal, Ric Flair vs Rick Rude - somehow were really dull. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted July 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 22, 2025 Yep that’s another one. A turd of a show capped off by The Shockmaster winning the War Games main event with a bearhug. Quote

Again I’m going to have to defend Battlebowl 1993 because it’s so….WCW. A few months earlier is when Worldwide started getting taped from the MGM studios which was closer to Fun House and Double Dare with the fucking spinning ring and despite the fantastic roster that WCW had, most of the time we got this influx of shite from the WCW class of 93 with the likes of the Cole Twins, Shockmaster, Yoshi Kwan, Shanghai Pierce and Tex Slazenger, Colossal Kongs, Equalizer, fucking Charlie Norris, Big Sky etc and this is the PPV that is a perfect tribute to a specific time since most of these twats fucked off by 1994. WCW seemed to do shit in a far more entertaining manner than the WWF and this is a great show just for the audacity of making people pay for it and a crowd that is so desperate for anything to happen that they pop big when the future Henry and Phineas Godwin face off against each other. I haven’t seen it in ages but surely Vader beating up Charlie Norris was worth it and Flair/Austin vs Scorpio/Maxx Payne must have been decent. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted July 22, 2025 Author Members Posted July 22, 2025 IYH5 starts with this promo music, which is my favourite ever so even within 30 seconds, it's a million times better than the last one. But Marty Jannety has just walked out so... Quote

Chili Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 In Your House 12: It's Time is another one where everything is kind of ok but fuck all really happens. I know the card but I can't think of anything that actually happens in any of the matches except the finish of the Bret/Sid match which is something to with Shawn Michaels on comms. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted July 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 22, 2025 Surely ECW December to Dismember 2006? Its as pointless as show as I can think of. Quote

All I remember positive about that show was Flash Funk vs Leif Cassidy being a pretty fun opener. But I haven’t seen it since so who knows how it holds up. Plus it didn’t draw so by ol’ Leif’s criteria it was a shite match anyway. Quote

IYH:5 does have the ring announcer announcing Dean Douglas' replacement right at the start of the segment before Douglas has even announced he's not wrestling in the match which is hilarious. I'm surprised they didn't edit it out because it would have been so easy to. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted July 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 22, 2025 In looking up the card for the ‘It’s Time’ In Your House, I noticed the poster for the event on Wikipedia. Could they not have found a more recent picture of Bret doing the Sharpshooter than going all the way back to his world title win over Ric Flair in 92? ? Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted July 22, 2025 Author Members Posted July 22, 2025 IYH 5, main event aside, is absolutely shit as well sadly. More poor lads carrying Mabel though and I'm ashamed to say Lawler speculating on Vega being bought by Million Dollar Man with a "What was his price, 2 tacos and a burrito" made me laugh, ffs. But an awful show. Quote
