Genuinely gutted for him that he missed out there. Yeah I checked back and it was Diaz my Liverpool friends were nattering about going to Bayern. I would still like to see a Nunez and Kane front line. It would probably be bonkers. Quote

Would they have even bought the former if they knew the latter was available? I know Diaz and Nunez and maybe Chiesa are going but that's an incredible front line if they do. The thing is, it's a mental outlay for the summer, but you're future proofing those attacking positions for 4 or 5 years where you don't have spend anything. If Isak is available, they should just get him in and figure it out later. Saying that, I'm sure the CFO is having a meltdown this summer. Quote

I suspect Slot wanted to bring almost all of these in last summer, they weren't available, and made do with what we had. And pissed the title with it. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 I think it might have been UKFF’s own Mo Chatra who did a bit on how much money Liverpool could spend this summer and stay in line with PSR and it was something ridiculous like £500m. At the time nobody believed we’d go close to that figure and it was more a look at how well we were being run financially. FSG have a bit of form for this as I believe they did something similar with the Red Sox a few years ago and now all the Red Sox fans are complaining about lack of investment. Probably why it’s really important we get it right as I don’t suspect this is the norm but just us setting our stall up for the next 5 years then acting accordingly as and when needed. Nice to see all the cry arseing about us ruining football though, warms the soul. @Devon MalcolmIm nowhere near convinced we get Isak but interestingly Slot described Ekitike as a multifaceted forward who could play across the forward line. Basically described him doing the Diogo Jota role so if we did opportunistically manage to get Isak I think Ekitike still sees plenty of minutes in whatever this revised system ends up looking like. Cousin Jim Bob Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 I'm not entirety sure how the fuck England won the Euro's but it was a fantastic result. Some truly insane comebacks. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 And Lucy Bronze had a fractured tibia throughout Quote

Browser Brady Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Definitely good work by Liverpool by investing when they are on top. 65m for Diaz ? He is worth about 50 so they are right to take it. Sesko of Leipzig any good ? Seen Newcastle and United are seemingly the most likely suitors. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 2, 2025 Author Members Posted August 2, 2025 Sonny's leaving. Waking up to this just now was genuinely traumatic. Oh god, now I have to tell my 12yo, ffs. Gutted, but it was inevitable, and he got his reward for being so loyal to us, when he could've gone anywhere in the world. Build the statue. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted August 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 2, 2025 Yeah, completely understandable. Not everyone would have given 10 years to dross like us, at 33 his window of opportunity to enjoy nice weather and get a decent bunse for kicking a ball is very short. Tremendous servant, owes us absolutely nothing, good luck to him. Quote
Paid Members CleetusVanDamme Posted August 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2025 We have a game on Friday and one on Sunday and that's pre-season started and finished. Weird year. I had a suspicion during the CWC that it might actually help and we'll go into a season fit for the first time since 2014 but let's be real, what do I know? And who knows how everyone spent the few weeks in-between? Hopefully they've all been on the same "holiday" as Joao Pedro was before joining us, lifting weights and watching Diego comps! Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2025 Liverpool are playing two friendlies on the same night against Athletic Club, that's a new one on me. Quote
Paid Members Callum1993 Posted August 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2025 Crystal Palace did the same on Saturday against Augsburg. Not sure if it’s because they both have a week less of preparation for the season starting with the Community Shield this weekend? Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted August 5, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 5, 2025 It's becoming a bit of an en vogue way to do pre-season, I think. A good chunk of Norwich's pre-season this year and last has been split squads playing 2 games in one day (either against another club doing the same thing or two different opponents). I forget what the exact logic being behind it was supposed to be (something about it allowing you to maximise time on the training pitch or something), the current management team weren't so keen on the model but were stuck with stuff set up under the previous regime. Members SuperBacon Posted August 5, 2025 Author Members Posted August 5, 2025 Massive squads innit. Chelsea could probably play a game an hour with their lot. Quote
