Another from Covid ‘Mania. Street Profits defending the tag titles against Angel Garza and Austin Theory. Garza was teaming with Andrade who got injured. I have no idea how Theory ended up being his partner. I also have no recollection of that match.

It was the night 1 pre-show match, FWIW. Cesaro beat him with an airplane spin. Just a normal one too, not the no- hands variant.

Came about as part of that angle where Gulak was Daniel Bryan's training partner, and Cesaro was in the "Artist's Collective" with Zayn & Nakamura - Bryan challenging Sami for the IC title on that show.

On the contrary, I remember this match for all sorts of daft reasons despite maybe only seeing it the once.
Fandango’s big debut after weeks of weaseling out of matches for stupid reasons leading to him eventually having his debut match at Wrestlemania against relative big name still Chris Jericho. His finger was meant to be a version of the New Jersey Jam, so how do you get that over? By having Jericho kick out at 2 of course. Then he flukes a Small Package for the win.

6 weeks later they have a rematch, Jericho goes over and Fandango’s push is done with already

A whole host of stuff there I have no memory of.

The only Mania cards where I can recall every match are 9 and 10. For every other, there are multiple matches I’ve completely erased from my mind. 

I looked up a random Mania to see if anything stood out as a “holy hell, that happened?!” match. Apparently Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio took place at 35 and lasted less than a minute.

For those of you who were hoping that Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn was going to happen at this year’s WrestleMania, hands up who remembered that it in fact already happened at WrestleMania 37 four years ago? And that Logan Paul was Sami’s corner man?

Incidentally, Sami vs. Bryan for the IV Title from CovidMania 1 the previous year is one of the only crowdless matches I would occasionally go back and watch. That also had a weird corner man - the aforementioned Drew Gulak was following Bryan about at the time for some reason. Meanwhile Sami was accompanied by Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura in a sort of “all of these are right good, honest” trio situation.

I went back through some results waiting for something to genuinely hit me:

It's hit me before - and this WrestleMania was full of it - but what and why? 

Maybe one of the most nondescript matches to ever take place between two massively over, in their prime stars whilst the business was still relatively hot. The kind of thing you'd set up as a main event for your PS2 game's e-fed, but at least give it an amazing build and storyline in your head because you're a teenager and it's Kane Vs. Kurt Angle but here it just happened in wrestling's version of liminal space.

This is perhaps not in the spirit of the OP but is was suprising to me none the less. There was a dark match at Wrestlemania 23 that was Ric Flair and Carlito vs Gregory Helms and Chavo Guerrero in a tag team lumberjack match that had 36 lumberjacks. We should never complain about them putting on multi man matches to get everyone on the card.

Against all logic of memory, the more recent, the less likely I am to remember stuff. Leaving aside multi-man matchups, it's about WM 34/2018 where I'm drawing a blank. We're talking:

Rollins vs Miz vs Balor
Balor vs Lashley

Morrison vs Kingston vs Jimmy Uso ladder match (though I vaguely remember them clearly doing cuts so they didn't actually take all the bumps as this was the empty arena show)

Aleister Black vs Lashley

Cesaro-Rollins

Mcintyre-Corbin (specifically Happy Corbin)

Sheamus/Holland-New Day

Lesnar-Omos

I was watching that period of WWE (got up to May 2002) when the WWE Network was shut down, so despite even watching the Raw and SmackDown episodes leading to that PPV and match, I still couldn’t say why the match happened. I think they just had a couple of brawls outside the ring after run-ins, and then it was, “Look at this bad blood! They’re going to need to settle it at WrestleMania!”
