Paid Members BomberPat Posted February 26, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 26, 2025 Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Terry Funk is my number one; just consistently brilliant and entertaining, always worth watching even in bad matches, and if you only ever watched one wrestler's matches and chose him as that one wrestler, you'd still get a ton of variety. Bret Hart is a very close second. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? The first that comes to mind is Jason Knight. Stole a living from ECW for years, never did anything good or memorable. Favourite ever match(es)? Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper, Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin I Quit Match, Sid Cooper vs. Sammy Lee. Shittest match you've ever seen? I was probably in it! I've seen some god-awful stuff on small indie shows, including barely trained people missing their one spot. But I think truly the answer to this question should be something that was shit in spite of everything; something being shit on a trainee show is expected, something being shit with a massive budget and years of collective experience behind it is much shitter for it. I've seen lots of films called the worst ever made, but none of them were actually as shit as Batman vs. Superman. It has to be a "what the fuck were they thinking?" decision, and while I'd be tempted to go with the DX/Brothers Of Destruction match from Saudi Arabia, I'm not sure I ever actually saw the whole thing rather than just a bunch of GIFs. So I'm going to go with The Fiend vs. Seth Rollins, the Hell In A Cell match that ended in a DQ after The Fiend used Mallet's Mallet. Favourite ever card/event(s)? ECW Barely Legal '97. It's still my go-to example for how best to structure a big card, with the exception of the Shane Douglas/Pitbull match, which I think is still going. Honourable mentions for Wrestlemania 17 and CHIKARA King Of Trios 2011. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? I struggle with this one - it was CHIKARA, before that was sullied by a lot of Speaking Out stuff that makes me a lot more reluctant to go back and watch it. For a long time the easy answer would be ECW, but a lot of it has aged horribly, or Michinoku Pro, but I haven't watched enough in the last decade or so to feel confident in that one. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? For CHIKARA, 2011-12, I was buying every single show, they had a great roster, and were bringing in a really mad diverse list of guests, before the shutdown angle in 2013 sent things off the rails a bit. I have a copy of the CHIKARA yearbook from 2011 signed by the entire roster, and I dug it out recently to figure out who it was actually signed for, and it's a fascinating time capsule - there's a lot of long-forgotten names in there and some I can't make out, but there's Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Johnny Gargano, Claudio Castagnoli, 2.0, El Generico, even Brodie Lee. For Michinoku Pro, it's 1997. For ECW, probably around the same, 97-98, though I have a soft spot for latter day ECW because it's when I was buying all their videos. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Arn & Tully Favourite live show you attended? Either the UK CHIKARA King of Trios, or the first EVE SHE-1. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? Green John Cena plush monkey. Never owned. Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Maybe Hey! EW? It's the only thing I really watch these days outside of the actual shows. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Christ, where would you even begin? Short of actual deaths and accidents, maybe Vince's interview of Melanie Pillman? Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Hangman Page, Toni Storm Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Up until the last couple of weeks, MJF, so I'll probably still go with that - similar to the worst matches point; there's worse than him, but few that so consistently drag things down when they're more than good enough to do better, and I think that's infinitely more frustrating than someone just being bad. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? AEW kind of by default, as it's the only thing I watch regularly at the moment. Current favourite tag-team(s)? I don't watch enough of them, but Violence Is Forever. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Kyle Fletcher or Konosuke Takeshita. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? Most weeks it's just Dynamite, and then maybe some stuff on YouTube, particularly since the WWE Vault has become a thing. But just dipping in for less than an hour, so the majority is still just two hours of Dynamite every week, and the occasional live show. Next live show you are planning to attend? I think the next one is probably EVE next weekend. What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? The only wrestlers left on my "would love to see live" list are El Hijo del Vikingo and Atsushi Onita. I would love to see a show at Arena Mexico or, failing that, just to see a proper Lucha show in Mexico. I've never been to Japan, and would love to see live wrestling there. I have a couple of things left I'd like to do in wrestling, though nothing all that exciting. Quote
DebbieHardy_v2 Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 (edited) Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? My number one always has and always will be Shawn Michaels Other notable faves: Jeff Hardy, The Rock, John Cena, Macho Man Randy Savage and females - Lita and Trish Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Oh there are a few. Probably least fave was JBL instant fast forward material. Favourite ever match(es)? Shawn Michaels vs Triple H at Summerslam 2002 - I was just so happy to see HBK back where he belongs ? also TLC II, HBK vs Razor Ramon (both ladder matches), Cody vs Roman at WM 40, Drew vs CM Punk at MITB 2024, Shawn vs Taker (not just the two big Mania matches but also HIAC), Shawn vs Mankind at Mind Games in 96, the fact Shawn finally won the title - the Iron Man Match (this is childhood nostalgia, I remember him winning was everything to me at the time haha!), Rock vs Austin at Mania X7, Rock vs Triple H - Summerslam 98, John Cena vs HBK - RAW - ach so many! Shittest match you've ever seen? I wasn't too fond of the Kennel from Hell match! Favourite ever card/event(s)? Summerslam 2002, Wrestlemania X7,X8,X9, One Night Only (mostly as I was there live!) , Royal Rumble 2000 Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? WWF/E Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? The early years with the cartoonish characters like Macho Man and co just for proper childhood nostalgia, New Generation cos same and also Attitude Era but right now has been pretty good too especially now my 6 year old daughter has been watching it with me for a year now and it's so fun to see it through her eyes too. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Hardy Boyz Favourite live show you attended? One Night Only and Clash at the Castle (Glasgow - great atmosphere!) but have been to a lot of great shows televised and non televised. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? My Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania 12 figure and Team Extreme figure pack. Also John Cena gave me his wristband at one event and I have Jeff Hardy's top from another! ? And lastly Shawn's autograph! Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? I used to buy Power Slam magazine religiously. I also actually enjoyed WWF Magazine, especially for the posters, and still have all the old issues in my loft. I'm gutted now my daughter is into it that they don't still have the WWE Kids magazine. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Probably JBL's whole title reign - yawn! Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? DIY, Natalya, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? WWE Current favourite tag-team(s)? Street Profits, MCMG and the Hardyz of course! Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? I would love to see Sami Zayn win the WWE title. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? A lot more now my daughter is involved in viewing so we watch RAW and Smackdown every week - NXT the odd time along with delving in and out of AEW. Next live show you are planning to attend? Paid Members stumobir Posted February 26, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 26, 2025 Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? If I had to pick just one it would be Austin, thought he was the coolest, hardest SOB in town at the time of my wrestling obsession. Foley (eurgh) and Punk were also up there at various points. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Alberto Del Rio - a charisma vacuum and epitomises much of what was awful about 2010’s WWE. A thoroughly unpleasant person too, by all accounts. Favourite ever match(es)? Austin vs Rock WM17 - two of the biggest stars of all time in their best match and a hot crowd, what’s not to love. TLC 2 WM17 - wall to wall mayhem, everything I wanted from wrestling at the time. HHH vs Foley Rumble 00 - Foley made a few guys or elevated them at least with this type of match, and this was his best. It’s a sad reminder of how good he was before the diminishing returns and creepiness set in. Honorable mention to (slightly) more recent matches; Wyatt Family vs The Shield Elimination Chamber 14 - two incredible stables emerging at the same time and delivering a belter of a match, real lightning in a bottle stuff. Zayn vs Nakamura Takeover 16 - the best debut match of all time in my opinion, sadly it was a good as it would get for Nakamura. Shittest match you've ever seen? Cole vs Lawler WM27 - I had the unenviable honour of being there for this. I know the event is universally accepted as a dud but as it was my first and only WM, I’ve obviously got a bit of a soft spot for it. This match, however, is inexcusable shite. Favourite ever card/event(s)? It’s WM17, all day long. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? It would have to be WWE. I’ve watched my fair share of WCW, ECW, ROH and AEW but WWE is the only one I watched consistently and for so long. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? WWF/E from 97-02. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Probably Hardy Boyz but I was a big fan of NAO and the Acolytes/APA at the time too. Favourite live show you attended? ROH Takes Centre Stage - Atlanta 2011 Had a belter of a time at some early ICW shows but it’s hard to distinguish them from each other. The atmosphere for Grado’s first title match was the best I’ve ever experienced at a show. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? Stone Cold t-shirt with the blue skull and smoke coming out of the eyes. Loved that thing. It was almost definitely a knock off picked up from some market, most likely The Barra’s. Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Powerslam If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? I’ll keep it kayfabe and say the anonymous Raw GM laptop or the roster strike because they were afraid of R-Truth and The fucking Miz. A real low point in creative and was around this time I started to drifted in to lapsed or very casual fan. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? I’m a Sami Zayn guy. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Seth Rollins - no explanation required. Jey Uso - I’m sorry but I just don’t see it. I find the “yeet” and “uce” promos obnoxious and I’m done with the dragged out entrance. I’m not a “movez” nerd but his superkicks and spears are hilariously bad. I don’t even want to talk about that match at last years Mania. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? WWE is the only one I’m currently following. Current favourite tag-team(s)? I’m not really rating any of WWE’s tag division. I enjoyed Young Bucks when I was watching a bit of AEW. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Sami lifting the big one will be a nice moment. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? I’ll watch at least a few matches on Vault. I’ll occasionally watch the highlights of Raw and Smackdown if I’m particularly bored. Next live show you are planning to attend? None and don’t think that’ll change for a while. What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? I’d love to go to a Rumble. If my sons get in to WWE as they grow up then I’d love to take them to a Mania. Quote

I watched this match this morning and it really is great. No wasted motion, literally everything matters. You can even forgive Barbar the bear hug because it doesnt last long. Great double team stun gun to switch the momentum, Shawn & Marty their state-of-the-art best. Two wins in consecutive PPV matches makes it, funny as it sounds, the peak of The Rockers' form. They wouldn't have another outing on PPV before their final split, filmed the day after Tuesday In Texas. I really think given Bret was earmarked for singles, if Vince hadn't picked up The Road Warriors, they'd have been champs in 1991. There's a part of the multiverse where the Nasties stay in WCW too and the belts go from the Harts to Power & Glory to Shawn & Marty. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted February 27, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 27, 2025 Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Bret Hart. It's not even close. He was my first favourite, my favourite during my favourite time as a fan watching it "as it happens", and involved in a good chunk of my favourite matches ever. He also wrestled on each of my first three live shows attended, the first being a house show in Telford where he defended the WWF title for the first time after Mania X anywhere on the planet, the second being the UK Express Tour in November 96, the third being One Night Only. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? This is really tough. There have been plenty of just "eugh" wrestlers that have made me sit on my hands or fast forward over the years. I was tempted by someone I felt SKIN-CRAWLINGLY irritated by, like Spyder Nate Webb, or any number of "stealing a living" types who I just wanted to see fuck off. And I nearly went with Michelle McCool or Kelly Kelly because the sound of their music used to make me scowl on account of how shit-yet-pushed they both were. But their time in the light was brief, so to speak. So the real answer (I kept it in the family) is Natalya. How many fucking years have they been describing her as "legendary" despite wrestling about five times a year, having wrestled hardly any good matches and not even being particularly decorated? I'm not saying she's as irredeemably useless as Tamina was, or as painfully boring as Shayna is, but FUCK ME whenever I hear the start of "Hart Attack" which USED TO fill me with happiness and now fills me with an emotion I can only describe as beige... well, it's triggering. JUST FUCK OFF, Nattie. Worse than Nikki Bella even in terms of described as some kind of pioneer and legend but actually has just been kind of "there" forever. Favourite ever match(es)? How long have you got? Undisputed #1 used to be Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit from Rumble 2003 very closely followed by Mitsy vs Kobashi from Navigate For Evolution just a couple of months later. There's something that you can only appreciate watching that near the time and having followed the rivalry between the two men for so many years, and the finish is pure gold for those of us invested in Kobashi finally getting one over his oldest rival... lariat, kick out. Brainbuster, kick out. THE BURNING HAMMER - kick out of that, bitch! This sums it up better than I could ; https://prowrestlingpost.com/mitsuharu-misawa-vs-kenta-kobashi/ Today... it very possibly could be Reigns vs Rhodes from Mania 40. Shittest match you've ever seen? I've seen some right howlers in my time, sometimes I think you have to judge each on the stage and the expectations from the level of performer involved. However.. fuck that. Anyone that's known me long enough knows that Bushwhackers vs Beverly Brothers from the 92 Rumble is my idea of hell - it's almost impossibly boring for the length, and I never cared for Luke & Butch anyway. Plus the Jamison stuff is unbearable and also drags and drags. Favourite ever card/event(s)? Another tough one but realistically three stand out. If I can include Mania 40 as one card, the combination of Rhea's defining win over Lynch, Sami knocking Gunther off his perch, the tag main of night 1, Punk costing DM Hunk his big moment and Cody finishing the story, in combination, makes it very possibly my favourite card ever, even if there's a bit of filler mixed in. Otherwise, it's very clearly either Canadian Stampede for pure quality, consistency and enjoyment, or Mania 17 for the amount of times I've watched it back - a ridiculous buffet of technical wrestling, bumps n stunts, soap opera rollercoasters and big name brawls. Something for everyone. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? Funnily enough, despite long periods in the 90s, 00s and 10s where something else was my favourite, over my lifetime it's got to be the WWF/WWE. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? Probably everything between Mind Games and Montreal. Close runner up would be Mania 14 - Mania 17, but peak Hart Foundation and heel HBK trump peak Stone Cold and Rock for me. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Demolition. The first tape I watched was Mania VI and FUCK, did I think this pair were the business. Yes, I came to love many "great wrestling" tag teams and Owen & Smithers were the first tag team I really watched and emotionally invested in as it happened, but Ax & Smash had an aura that couldn't be topped. Maybe it was the theme music, I don't know. But they were the best for me. Favourite live show you attended? I can't pick one, honestly. But its either penultimate night of G1 2013 for matches, the last four being the most powerful four matches in a row I ever watched, possibly finals night the night after for the joy of Naito winning and avenging 2011 (which I also attended), or Wrestle Kingdom 12 for overall experience, even if Naito losing meant we shuffled out of the Dome heartbroken. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? Probably the nWo original t-shirt. I owned the variant with "4 life" underneath the logo, but it wasn't the same. I have a soft spot for the original Bullet Club t-shirt too, buying it and wearing it at shows where AJ was wrestling as IWGP champ. Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? PowerSlam, DDTDigest.com when WCW was still going, SCG. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? That time Lio Rush no sold a fucking piledriver from a ladder through a table. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? CM Punk, to be honest. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? When she shows up, still Natalya. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? I only really get to watch WWE, so it's them. Current favourite tag-team(s)? For nostalgia only, The Motor City Machine Guns. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Stephanie Vaquer is someone I can see getting to the top, and I'd love watching her climb. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? I skip through/part watch every Raw and SmackDown plus PLEs at present, and when I've not got new stuff to watch I'm watching the odd 10-15 minutes of 80s/90s stuff or Rumbles I never bothered with on Netflix while I do meal prep. Maybe 3 hours a week not including what I FF. Next live show you are planning to attend? See below. What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? One day, I'd love to persuade Mrs raid to do Christmas in New York and go to WWE at MSG on Boxing Day. Quote
Mr Butternut Squash Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 (edited) Been watching a ton of old footage lately and will have bias towards that and struggle to narrow anything down. Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? It always changes but right now I have put Randy Savage up there. Obviously, I’ve always liked Savage, but he’s the kind of wrestler you take for granted. Seeing this promo recently really did make me step back and appreciate him all over again. Some gem matches I’d never seen before too, like the Hogan match in Boston, the Tenryu match and the Ronnie Garvin cage match. Also, Roddy Piper. Same as above. It really stood out when I was going through 1986 WWF how cool and cutting edge Piper felt. Incredible character and a much, much better worker than given credit for. Fantastic brawls with Snuka, Orndorff, Hogan and the brilliant Valentine series. It took me a while to ‘get’ Tenryu but I think he’s the best Japanese wrestler ever now. Legendary journeyman that made everything count. A Tenryu chop to the throat was more powerful than a thousand burning hammers. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? It doesn’t get any worse than Mike Rotunda, Kane and Shane McMahon. Three guys I’d happily never watch again. Favourite ever match(es)? Again, impossible to choose, but going by recent watches - Flair vs Vader at Starrcade 93. Incredible babyface performance and a great overall PPV presentation. Also, the first Terry and Dory Funk vs Sheik and Abby match in All Japan. Awesome violent spectacle that had the crowd on the brink of riot. Legendary Terry Funk performance that cemented him as a babyface superstar in Japan. Apparently it's not even the best in the series! Shittest match you've ever seen? Hmm, bad matches can be very funny. Boring matches are awful. Basically any of the big HHH matches. Favourite ever card/event(s)? Survivor Series 89 is the biggest nostalgia buzz. Canadian Stampede holds up well. Superbrawl II, Stampede 94 etc are cracking for WCW. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? I only see eras or “runs” Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? There’s so many… 96-97 WWF is my sweet spot. Not only did the ring work improve but a whole bunch of unique circumstances come together to create magic with the rise of Austin. That 97 Raw presentation is still the best ever from the company. Early 90s WCW. I know business was crap but pre-Hogan WCW had just the right amount of pro-wrasslin’ bullshit mixed with the sports style presentation remaining from the Crockett days. 84-87 AJW aka the Chigusa/Dump era. Gutsy Ricky Morton style babyface who is also a legitimate pop star battles the out of control super villain, who's stabbing and swearing indiscriminately as throngs of teenyboppers lose their minds. A backdrop of exciting work-rate tags, technical title classics and the most viscerally heated brawls in history. There will never be anything like it again. 85-92 All Japan aka the “Grumpy Jumbo” era. The greatest in-ring era for a promotion ever. The invasion of Riki Choshu’s army is like a bolt of lightning, forcing everyone to adjust their game and laying the groundwork for the Kings Road style that was made famous in the 90s. This was the best era though, before they become fully isolationist and there was still a wide mix of visiting gaijin stars and natives, wild brawls and the best tag team wrestling ever. Before Jumbo got sick and the style became excessive and headroppy and it was just the same four blokes fighting each other over and over. Honourable mention to Memphis, which is awesome but I haven’t watched in 15 plus years. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? The Midnights (both) and Rock n’ Rolls. Boring, but they're celebrated for a reason. Favourite live show you attended? All Star in Croydon Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? I used to own that gaudy 1995 HBK shirt that is now seemingly worth hundreds. Fuck. Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Right now I’m enjoying the Squared Circle Gazette WWF yearbook podcasts. Also Center Stage Chronicles, which is basically the same thing but covers WCW. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Owen. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Hmm, not sure I have any. Max Caster has been shockingly entertaining lately from the bits I’ve watched. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? I don’t want to sound mean as I’m sure that some will mature into something worthwhile, but all the indie kids picked up by AEW are useless. Private Party, Top Flight, Andretti, Kip Sabian, Wheeler Yuta etc etc . . Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? They’re all shite. Current favourite tag-team(s)? Liv and Raquel have been in back to back MOTYCs, so them by default. Tag team wrestling is dead. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) I could count the good wrestlers left on one hand. Bron Breakker I guess? How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? I watch the odd match and promo from Raw and Dynamite. Otherwise I’m 95% watching old stuff. Next live show you are planning to attend? No thanks! What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? Continue filling gaps as GWE 2026 approaches. Finish up my 90s NJPW viewing before finally watching some UWFi/Shootstyle and indie stuff I’ve missed. And if I get time, rewatch a bunch of classic lucha, Memphis and WOS. Edited February 27, 2025 by Mr Butternut Squash Quote

Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted February 27, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 27, 2025 Past Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Shawn Michaels. was the first wrestler I ever seen on tv. I'd call him the greatest but then came along Bryan Danielson who just pips him. Thanks to tape trading and the internet, Stan Hansen has also become a favourite. During various periods of time, I've had many favourites. Just not enough to crack my top three. Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold, Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Eddie Guerrero, Brock Lesnar, Kenta, Nigel McGuinness, Asuka. A lot of unproblematic people as you can see. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Natalya, Enzo Amore, Jinder Mahal, JBL, Tamina, IRS, Austin Theory, Bubba/Bully Ray. Favourite ever match(es)? Triple H vs Cactus Jack at Rumble 2000 is the match I have watched the most. Cena vs Punk at MITB. Cena vs Umaga at Rumble 2007. Danielson vs Hangman Page, the one hour match. Hangman and Kenny vs Young Bucks at Revolution. Hangman vs Swerve series. Triple H vs Benoit vs Michaels at Wrestlemania. Shield vs Wyatts at EC. There's so many more. These just stick out right now. Shittest match you've ever seen? Triple H vs Kozlov at Survivor Series. I actually shouted "This is so boring" at my telly. Thank fuck Edge came out. Kane vs Khali at Wrestlemania. Adam Cole vs Chris Jericho at whatever AEW PPV that was. Bray Wyatt vs Orton at Mania (twice). Randy Orton vs Alexa Bliss. Favourite ever card/event(s)? Wrestlemania 17 Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? WWE probably due to longevity. Soft spot for ROH until about six years ago. And PWG until all the good wrestlers got signed up. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? WWF in 2000. 2001 and 2002 were also good. There was a lot of good stuff between 2007-2010. But 2000 is the best for me. PWG 2010-2018. ROH 2004-2014 had some great stuff. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Briscoe Brothers. Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Hardy Boyz. Young Bucks. MCMG (Their series against Beer Money was so good) Favourite live show you attended? All In, the first one. Just for the atmosphere of it. All In 2 was better in terms of match quality though. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? Austin 3:16 shirt. NWO shirt. Those toys that would "sweat" Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Used to love WWF/E Magazine. This site obviously. Hey EW and WWE Vault are the best things on Youtube. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Well besides all the deaths and murders, probably that Jinder title reign. But Owens death would actually be it. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Hangman Page. Swerve Strickland. Jacob Fatu. Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn. Toni Storm. Obi Femi. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Natalya. Because why the fuck is she still there. Ricochet is still shite. Chris Jericho. Seth Rollins. LA Knight. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? WWE has got me invested again. I still like AEW. Current favourite tag-team(s)? They still have tag team wrestling? MCMG probably. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Jacob Fatu, Konosuke Takeshita, Bron Breakker, Hangman Page again. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? I'll go out of my way for certain matches and segments if I hear they're good. I can't watch a full show these days unless I'm on night shift. Do watch more old stuff. Next live show you are planning to attend? Be around wrestling fans? No thanks. What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? I would like to go to a 'Mania and Royal Rumble. I'd love to see WWE in MSG. Quote
Olly1984 Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Past: Favourite wrestler Youngest memory of watching my first VHS, Starrcade 89 and being captivated by a young Sting and The Great Muta. That stayed with me till Global Video introduced a teen me to ECW and with that my fandom ignited again till this day. RVD and Masato Tanaka and New Jack blew my mind back then. Probably Shawn Micheals if honestly just 1 pick, from Summerslam 2002 to retirement always amazing to watch. Least favourite. Purely for hype to talent ratio, back when vignettes where awesome, Its got to be either Nathan fucking Jones or Mordecai. Proper fucking let downs. Favourite match Kenya Kobashi vs Kensuke Sasake So I found a Japanese best of dvd in a charity shop, never heard of the guys names on the back but the front had these 2 on and "dream match" so bought it. Loaded the dvd hoping it would work, this was the first match. My dad is a big fan of wrestling too and he walked into the room and sat down as streamers flew into the ring. And for 30 mins we sat, stunned silence minus the winces and gasps at the spectacle unfolding. What a fucking match, 1st and only singles between the 2 and well worth seeking out. Shittest match Jenna Morasca vs Queen Sharmell. Just No!! Best PPV Loved TNA's 1st Bound for Glory, mainly for Jeff Hardy's mental Swanton off the tron onto Abyss, or to quote the great Don West" THAT WAS FREAKING INSANNNNEEE" AEW All Out 2021 also amazing, shock debuts, quality matches, cracking show. It's WM17 though, can't add to what's been said already from you guys, just top tier PPV. Favourite promotion Has been ECW, TNA, WWF but currently is All Elite Wrestling. Favourite AEW period The pandemic era brought the worst of the outside world but the best from AEW. Brodie and Eddie Kingston debuts, great matches, arcade anarchy etc. My intro to Orange Cassidy. And also the best part when fans were allowed back that 1st Double or Nothing with Mox and Kingston laughing his bollocks off as they were lost in the crowd, chanting Eddie's name..... It's magic when it's this good. Favourite tag team LAX(Both versions) Lucha Bros. Favourite live show attended. Dragon Gate Festival of Fire Finale-Castleford 24/2/2013 Sure some of the folks on the forum witnessed this live but for me it's the best live show I've seen. Had been ill for 2 months prior and my mates missus had secretly bought front row for us both. And this was my mates first ever live show l!! So much still sticks out, Yamato murdering Noam Dar with the fucking loudest dropkick to the face while Dar was in the corner, Akira Tozawa back when he was a charismatic, great talent. Genki getting his giant elastic band turned against him, and Shingo and Susume vs Spiked Mohicans. Amazing night. 2nd place Cara Noir vs Ilja Dragonuv 2/3 falls in Sheffield for Progress. Hard hitting, mesmerising effort from both men. Cracker of a match. Ohh and Takeshita forearming Leon Slater into 2026 when he came over to England during his excursion, what a noise they make! Favourite merch Classic style but the EC FN W shirt Favourite media/mag Fighting Spirit Magazine, then FSM. Think Powerslam was on the slide at that time and remember issue 1 was free in some shops. Bought the lot after, including finding me and my mates in the pics from shows they used to do results for in issue 100.Had Chuck Taylor sat in my lap from Rev Pro's Castleford show that had Uhaa Nation, Adam Cole, Chucky T and Forever Hooligans, could never find any footage of that show though. Also enjoy Oh My God Wrestling from BDWJ on YouTube. Delete any one moment from history. Just for the "would it have changed the company" side of things I'm going with RVD breaking his leg while still ECW Television champ. Don't think it would have stopped the inevitable but quite interesting just to see how things could have gone for Paul E. Present Current favourites Rhea Ripley, just an amazing screen presence and wrestler. Hangman Adam Page, best character in the business and most fascinating to watch, week in week out. Him and Eddie Kingston with a microphone in hand just make you stop, listen and truly believe which is a dying art and they are both masters at it. Least favourite. Nia Jax Seth Rollins Favourite promotion AEW Fave tag team The Hurt Syndicate. Best use of Lashley tbf and Shelton and his fountain of youth just killing it and scrubs like Lio Rush makes me happy! Ones to watch/ascend to main event status Agreed with most with Stephanie Vaquer, won't be long before the call up. Also same for Jordynne Grace, some matchups waiting when they both do. For the lads it's Oba Femi that sticks out. And when he shows up Rey Fenix. Time spent watching Dynamite and Collision on ITV4 Best bits of WWE on Netflix, which means fast forwarding till bits I wanna watch. PPVS and PLE'S when they occur, shite that grabs my attention on YouTube. So weekly maybe 4-5 hrs. Next live show attending Local show in April, Rev Pro High Stakes at Donny Dome with Mercedes Mone debuting. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted February 27, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 27, 2025 Past... *for these I'm going from before I rediscovered my love for wrestling in the last 3 years* Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Dynamite Kid. Not even a close second. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Chris Benoit. Because he nearly was my favourite ever, until, you know, the horror. He started the downside of my enjoyment. Favourite ever match(es)? Dynamite Kid Vs Tiger Mask in 83. Or Austin Vs Rock WM 15 Shittest match you've ever seen? Brothers of Deastruction vs Kronik. I loved Kronik in WCW, but this... wow Favourite ever card/event(s)? The first ECW 1 Night Stand. It just felt special. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? ECW Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? Around 1998 Favourite ever tag-team(s)? British Bulldogs. Favourite live show you attended? A 1PW one no doubt, it's all I had ever attended besides a dodgy touring one with tribute acts. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? The DX hockey jersey If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Well, if we exclude the Benoit and Owen level incidents, the Invasion. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Hangman Adam Page. He's an absolute icon. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Mercedes Mone. She is very good in ring, but her promos make me tune out to the point that I don't even care about her matches unless I'm already invested in her opponent. Christ, I'd rather watch Aaron Solo. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? AEW Current favourite tag-team(s)? Hounds of Hell Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Kyle Fletcher and, unless you count him as there, Will Osprey. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? Dynamite and Rampage. That's pretty much it. I did try WWE once it hit Netflix, but nah, not for me. Quote
Paid Members garynysmon Posted February 27, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 27, 2025 (edited) Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Tatanks Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Ludvig Borga, Ultimate Warrior Favourite ever match(es)? WM 10 Ladder Match, Savage v Steamboat WM3, Piper v Bret WM8 Shittest match you've ever seen? The 'four doinks' match at Survivor Series 1993. Utter gash. Favourite ever card/event(s)? Royal Rumble 1992, Wrestlemania 9 (don't judge me) Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? Has to be golden era WWF, massive soft spot for early 90's WCW too. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? That period of insane growth 1983-85, before WWF became the polished product it later became Favourite ever tag-team(s)? Demolition Favourite live show you attended? Only really attended Orig Williams tribute shows growing up. Attending a WWF event was a mere pipe dream. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? The classic nWo tshirt Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Was a lordsofpain man for many years, and took some work explaining to the IT technician at school that it was a wrestling news website... Bought WWF Magazine for years, and occasionally the Apter Mags and WOW. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? WWF buying WCW Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Seth Rollins, Sami Callihan Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? TNA Current favourite tag-team(s)? Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Leon Slater How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? Only TNA monthly specials really. Clips of TNA impact and whatever major stuff from AEW/WWE that pops up on social media. Bit of classic WWF on Netflix and current Saturday Night's Main Events. Next live show you are planning to attend? What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? I kind of like the idea of going to Wrestlemania, but it would have been 10x better going to WM in the 1990's. Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 28, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted February 28, 2025 If I had laid out odds on answers, @Devon Malcolm least favourite wrestler being Moxley would have been 1/50 and @garynysmonpicking favourite promotion as TNA would have been 1/100. Great stuff. ? Quote
pitseleh Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Past... Favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? Terry Funk. You could slide Terry into any promotion at any point and he could create magic. I've watched so much different styles of wrestling because of that man. Terry got me into Memphis wrestling after watching him fight Jerry Lawler in an empty arena. I learnt to appreciate deathmatch wrestling after watch him create drama amongst the gore when he faced Atsushi Onita in a barbed wire exploding ring deathmatch. He added a sense of realism into the cartoon world of mid-eighties WWF when he clashed with Hulk Hogan. On top of that, he was an absolute sweetheart of man who was always happy to help out the next generation. Terry Funk is forever. Least favourite ever pro-wrestler(s)? This is a tough one as I can usually find something in even the worst wrestlers. I will go with IRS. Just deathly dull. Not even so bad that it is good. I can't recall a single match or moment where he was interesting. He knew how to wrestle in regards to be able to work a match and do the moves, but he seemed completely unmotivated to pull his finger out. Favourite ever match(es)? This used to be the 6/9/95 AJPW tag match between the four pillars. I got into Japanese wrestling because of the Fire Pro games and I seeked out anything Misawa or Kobashi related. That obsession breathed new life into my fandom. They told such a compelling story between the violence here. I thought Kawada was such a dickhead here. Nowadays if you asked me, I would probably say Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher. I love the sheer violence and the complete lack of polish here. I have such a soft spot for gritty wrestling after how clean WWE has felt. Shittest match you've ever seen? There's many options to pick, but I will go with Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole at Wrestlemania 27. This was the first Mania I stayed up for and I was on a bit of Jerry Lawler kick at the time after watching some of his classic Memphis matches beforehand. I wanted Lawler to get his moment at Wrestlemania, even if it was just embarrassing Cole for 5 minutes. The match went on forever with so much outside bullshit dragging down the match. Favourite ever card/event(s)? Wrestlemania X7. Boring pick I know, but it is a classic for a reason. It was also the first Mania I ever saw too. Honorable mention goes to In Your House: Canadian Stampede. Favourite ever pro-wrestling promotion(s)? Tough one. WWE got me into wrestling so I will always be partial to them, but they've so many dark periods. I'll cheat and go with NXT. Favourite ever period in above promotion's history? That period from around 2015-2018 was absolute golden. I didn't miss a Takeover at this point, and I tried to watch the weekly show when I could. I'm not sure how well a lot of it holds up, but it was a glorious time to be a fan. Favourite ever tag-team(s)? But of a rogue one, but I will go with Laughter7. I wasn't sure what to make of Sakuraba and Shibata returned to NJPW, but they quickly became my favourites. They felt real and any match of their's felt like it could end at any moment. Favourite live show you attended? AEW All In 2024. I had such a wonderful time at this event. I was surrounded by my closest friends and we had an absolute blast. I remember getting emotional screaming the Final Countdown at the top of my lungs. Favourite ever piece of merch (whether you owned it or not)? I'm not much of wrestling shirt guy as a lot of the designs look drap, but I have a GCW deathmatch tournament shirt that looks like the design would be on the cover of a Japanese horror flick. That always gets an outing when I head to wrestling shows. Favourite ever pro-wrestling media (magazine/web site/podcast/YT channel)? Wrestle Me. I've cried tears of joy watching Marc and Pete having a ramble. I'm so happy that they started putting out videos on YouTube, so I could have an excuse to hear their voices once again. If you could delete any moment from pro-wrestling history, what would it be? Owen or Benoit would be the obvious choice. I'll go with CM Punk returning to Summerslam 2011, instead of going on an indy tour with the WWE title that we all hoped. Present... Current favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Luke Jacobs. This kid is going to be huge. RevPro is my regular promotion to see live wrestling so I see a lot of him and he never disappoints. I'm sure he will end up in WWE, AEW or NJPW within the year. He's a lovely lad too. Current least favourite pro-wrestler(s)? Can I say The Rock? I was never the biggest fan back in the day but he is downright insufferable now. He's so corporate and souless. He never has the decency to work within his limits and always gets blown up whenever he has wrestled since he bulked up. He's all about the numbers and profits, but never about the art. You could say the same thing about his movies too. Current favourite pro-wrestling promotion(s)? I don't follow any promotion, but I will go with RevPro as I see them the most due to the live shows I attend. Current favourite tag-team(s)? I struggled with this one. Let's go with Sunshine Machine as they are always a blast to see live. Who do are you most excited to see ascend to main event status? (Not Marty Jannetty) Bron Brekker. Less 'cinema', more beefy motherfuckers hitting each other hard in the WWE main event scene please. How much wrestling do you watch on a weekly basis? And how much is current stuff? I try to watch a few matches a week. I will try to watch the AEW and WWE PPVs when they happen. Next live show you are planning to attend? The next Southampton RevPro show. I haven't missed a RevPro show here since 2022. What's on your pro-wrestling bucket list? This used to be going to a Wrestlemania, but I wouldn't get much out of this for the ridiculous price they charge nowadays. I'll probably say to see wrestling in Japan. Doesn't have to be a Wrestle Kingdom, but seeing all the big promotions and a smattering of indies would be perfect. Quote
