Harley is one of the hottest acts in AEW right now, it’s in her home country and losing the TBS belt would free up Mercedes to feud with Toni Storm for the Women’s World title - which is probably the biggest women’s match they can do right now. 3 minutes ago, Chili said: Yeah I have to join in how fantastic that Harley Cameron video was. AEW have just kind of got out of a drought period of a few months but something they absolutely got bang on was seeing how much effort Harley Cameron was putting in and rewarding her for it. I even think it's brilliant acknowledging that she's not a super worker and that she's still finding her way. I think it adds to the whole story. Wrestles, funny, sings, does ventriloquism, speaks different languages. Is there anything Harley isn't a dab hand at? Soldier? Former Miss Universe? The Pat Mustard of AEW! She's absolutely incredible. I was going to say in my original post that it's too early for her, which is what I meant by "I just wish she was winning." And to be clear, I think they will think it's too early for her. She's clearly been pushed forward very quickly into something meaningful because she's just so damn brilliant, as Chili says. And for that, I already think her first televised win didn't feel as big as it should have. It was a fun moment and you need some of them on TV but it was something they were building up and then jumped to because her challenging Mercedes got over. I understand why and I'm completely torn because sometimes (prob too many times) they have something in wrestling and they sit on it too long and it goes away. Harley winning would be a great moment in Australia. I just don't know that they are ready to follow it up. It's a dilemma. I think I'd have Mercedes rob her - especially if Toni is winning - and build Harley up to take the belt at All In. She's definitely the next in line, assuming they don't kill the momentum. Quote
theringmaster Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 TBF Mercedes has had the belt for quite a while now hasn't she? She has got stale as Champion and like mentioned her v Toni seems like a great feud that could easily last all Spring and into the Summer. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted February 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 13, 2025 Give her a loaded ventriloquist dummy! Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted February 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 13, 2025 What another fantastic show. That’s 5 on the bounce of great TV with Dynamite and Collision. If it really is because Tony has finally put his focus back on booking, he can stay there. Quote
digforvictory Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 Another very enjoyable episode of AEW tv. I think there was a middling Dynamite a couple of weeks ago but other than that I think it's been a great start to 2025 for AEW. The tv has been consistently really good and aside from the main event world title stuff everything else seems to be on fire. Even the Death Riders stuff has improved a little in the last few weeks, the trios tag title match on this show was great. Just having them wrestle more instead of doing boring beat downs every week would be miles better. Hangman is just as good as it gets. MJF badly needed a serious high quality feud to sink his teeth into and nobody is better at that than Hangman. I'm assuming he's now officially babyface, he was definitely the most over guy on the show all night. Quote
Chili Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 I've really enjoyed the Hangman 'turn' because there has definitely been a turn and it says a bunch for how invest fans have in Hangman Page that his face turn was literally softening his eyes and quietly saying 'What?' when Christopher Daniels told him he'd forced him into retirement. It says there is still something in MJF too because as soon as they even had Page/MJF barely interact on TV, you can sense the change in the air. He's also not a face yet, he's very much back in his tweener role but the crowds are digging it, as opposed to this time last year where he was a tweener but verging into the heel side more with the Swerve angle. He's a good'un is ol' Hanger. Quote

I’d forgotten about that recent news of Tony Khan taking more control back of AEW booking. There does seem to be a direct correlation with when that report came out and AEW suddenly getting brilliant again. Even The Death Rider stuff, which remains the worst thing on the show, they’ve definitely knuckled down and re-focussed that angle. It’s far less silly and embarassing to watch, and similar to Jericho it’s as if they’ve been given a strict TV time limit, so as to not stink up any more of the show than is necessary. Love how the Trios division has came back into focus. Quite like the idea of a Trios Casino Gauntlet. Max Caster’s Open Challenge is inspired. They could run with that for months. Use it to debut new talent, reintroduce Bowens with a new gimmick and gear, or just reheat someone who needs something better than a random squash. At this rate, it’ll turn him Babyface when he finally wins one. The turnaround of both Ricochet and Max Caster has been remarkable. And yet still, the turnarounds of both Ricochet and Caster don’t even compare to how Hangman saved MJF’s entire career in the space of one show. This was the business. Hangman Adam Page is the absolute best thing in this company. Best there is. Best there was. Best there ever will be. It’s his company, even when it’s not. This show solidified it. Hangman Adam Page needs to beat Mox for the belt. With Swerve’s help. Quote

I love it and hate it when both AEW and WWE are firing on all cylinders. I don’t have enough time to watch all that wrestling, yet I absolutely want to! Smackdown on Saturday, followed by Grand Slam on Sunday should make for a fun weekend of wrestling. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 If Harley wins then I may forgive TK for everything ever. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 13, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted February 13, 2025 Swerve getting himself stuck in a blood feud he knows is ultimately pointless and knows is getting in the way of him getting back in the title race but determined to see it out and finish it because he's haunted by his mistakes with Hangman is such fucking good storytelling I absolutely love it. Meanwhile Ricochet's motivation is that the fans and Swerve humiliated him when he came in thinking he was going to be huge fan favourite so now he's going to humiliate and hurt Swerve for it. Bloody great stuff. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 Creative focus is always a good thing. I know some are all for talent being let loose but that needs to be filtered through something and someone at least. If TK has taken more control and it has allowed shows like these then good for him. Keep it that way because it's obviously working. Find that balance between a Vince type person that will only do their own shit and letting the inmates run the asylum. Quote
