Paid Members Supremo Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 Who do you reckon has the higher success rate? LA Knight doing the jumping Superplex without slipping and looking like an idiot, or Mercedes Moné hitting that finisher and it looking anything other than absolute shite? Quote

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 Had to go looking for this. Hope I remember it come awards time. Won't be a better moment all year. Copeland's face when the music stops is incredible. Incredible. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 How quickly do you think Jericho brings Judas back to try and copy it? Wednesday? Quote
Chili Posted February 17, 2025 Posted February 17, 2025 Loved the Copeland clip. He's terrible at hiding when something emotionally hits him and it's actually rather nice to see. The ring did look terrible now you can see it, but meh. Still I think this shows how cheap Tony Khan is and that WWE would never do that, so the best solution is for Khan to publicly apologize for putting his wrestlers in danger of it was a crap ring and give them all immediate contract releases so they can go elsewhere for their own safety. Literally killing the wrestling business with sloppy stuff like that. Imagine I believed all that, thank fuck we're almost relatively sane around here. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 They snuck all this in during Grand Slam. MJF & Hangman together, Big Meat Match, OC back and Patriarchy finally getting some. Last week's show was so good, I even forgot to take the piss out of how stupid The Opps sounds. Plus, they look great, so never mind. Quote

Paid Members RedTwoster Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 I’m looking forward to Hobbs/Bill, that has the potential to be a lot of fun. I really hope a face-to-face with Hangman brings out the best in MJF - in spite of Max being a bit cold as a character, I’m really looking forward to the match between the two. It could be exactly what MJF needs to get things back on track. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 What exactly does The Opps mean or is it a reference to? Quote

I thought it was gonna be like Black Ops when he said it but it's spelled different. Spelled "Opps", I've only ever known it mean Opposition. Given everyone is opposition, I dunno if that makes any sense. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted February 17, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 I am obviously too old to recognise the slang. HOOK is cooler than me. I’ll admit it. However, The Opps going for the Trios Titles against the Death Riders, and then that morphing into Samoa Joe vs. Moxley? I’d be up for that. I am equal parts excited and terrified of that Hangman vs. MJF segment. Felt like they had lightning in a bottle last week, but wouldn’t be shocked at all if MJF ruins it with some Edge Lord shit. I thought the smaller ring was just a fun, interesting thing until I saw everyone losing their mind on Twitter about it. It had never really occurred to be before, but of course a company would either loan one or have one in storage rather than incur the cost of transporting their usual ring to the other side of the world. I assume Alex Shane sorted them one for Wembley. Quote

AEW's ring guy is Bob Rosen Spoiler Picture in spoiler because it's a biggie. He's the guy in the AEW shirt here, and you'll often see him at ringside during TV and PPV. Anyway, Bob was TNA's ring guy for years until they let him go in 2017 after he had a heart attack. Nice. Anyway, I met Bob when I got some work for TNA when they did their Wembley shows. He was a lovely guy, a historian of rings. He told me how he designs them and why (and i've forgotten so much of it in the decade or so since). But the ring they had was stored in the UK. Possibly by forum favourite Len, so they didn't have to transport it. He oversaw its creation and I believe it was also used by WWE for a time though they definitely have their own ring over here now. The ring wasn't used exclusively by TNA, it was used by other companies when they were not using it. Basically I just wanted an excuse to shout out Bob and what a great bloke he is and AEW are lucky to have him. Edited February 17, 2025 by Hannibal Scorch Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 17, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 Decent show that. - the size of the ring was a bit distracting at first but I got used to it. I never really got used to how bouncy it was though. Reminded me of the rings in ROH in 2003. - opening tag was fun but not a 5 star epic or anything. Kenny looked a bit knackered but maybe was having an off night. Fletcher was the star of the match, what a heel he is. His heeling during the commercial break was the best part of the entire match. Takeshita is great, obviously, but doesn't really work as a heel in my book - especially when Fletcher is right next to him being the best heel in the biz. That finish was PERFECT. So fucking cool and the type of thing that an 11 year old LaGoosh would have lost his mind over. - Mone/Harley was fun. Harley is a fun character but in ring she's not there yet. Mone has grown on me. Her vapid, shallow performances match her character and always make her babyface opponents look better and more exciting. She's doing good work I think. - Brisbane Brawl was alright. Exactly what I expected. I want to like Cope more but I also really don't want to see him in the main event scene. Sad that they've World Championship is the most boring thing in the company at the moment. - Okada/Murphy was fine. I wish they would incorporate Okada's half arsing into his character more rather than him just half arsing. Say what you want though - the near falls in this got some of the loudest reactions of the night. - loved Toni/Mariah. Mariah in particular was fantastic. Great action and emotion. Love endings like that, the more matches finish in creative and logical ways than just "hit your finish" the happier I'll be. Looking forward to match 3. Seen some people say they should drag this out to All In. Nah, son. This needs to finish at Revolution. We're in the very final chapters of this story now. Finish while you're hot. Quote

I really hope Mariah doesn’t disappear from major feuds as soon as the story with Toni ends. I’ve said it a few times now, but the AEW women’s division has been responsible for some of the best television in all of wrestling as of late, and she’s been an enormous part of that. Judging by how fun she was on Hey EW, I think she has a brilliant baby face run in her future. I wouldn’t be against her being the one to take the TBS title from Mercedes. Obviously they’re both heels - but they surely have to do Storm/Mercedes at some point this year. I know not everyone here is a fan, but in terms of in ring work, I think Mercedes has been one of the best wrestlers in the company. She may be able to carry people in the ring - but she herself has to be carried to a good feud. I’ve no doubt Toni Storm can do that with her, much as Harley Cameron did. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 17, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted February 17, 2025 Yeah I would definitely go with Mercedes/Toni at All In. No doubt. It's a shame they wasted Mariah/Willow in a nothing match last year as a big story between them would be great and a perfect follow up for Mariah after the Toni story. Quote
