Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 19, 2025 Double Or Nothing announced from Glendale, Arizona. Possibly due to WrestleMania being in Vegas meaning they can't promote it early enough. Would rather see them move down the road to another big arena. Wrestling fans in that area are gonna be spoiled this year! Quote

Couldn’t call the result at all. The AEW women’s division, at the moment, might actually be my favourite thing in wrestling. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 20, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted February 20, 2025 I haven't finished the show yet but I will say that I really like the different looking and unique venues every week and it feels like it's breathed a bit of new life into the company. On a subliminal level it just makes every show feel like it's own unique and important show rather than just another Dynamite and that's really important at a time when there's so much wrestling to watch and it so often blurs into one blob of identical looking shite. Paid Members RedTwoster Posted February 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 20, 2025 An enjoyable show on the whole that perhaps started stronger than it finished. The build to the International Championship match is really weird, with Takeshita almost having to qualify for the match for the title which he currently holds. I’ve no idea who has challenged Mercedes for the TBS title, but what’s the point in Forbidden Door if a match like that can’t happen any time? It’s not a pairing I care about at all, even if the match is great. It feels predictable, and there are so many other wrestlers currently employed by AEW who I would rather see Mone wrestle. The confrontation between Hangman and MJF was good, although I’m not going to go as far as to say it took steps to pull MJF out of his current rut. He still needs to reinvent himself or evolve somehow. But I enjoyed it, and I’m definitely looking forward to the match. Even though they’ve wrestled before, it feels very fresh and exciting - if AEW had a Wrestlemania, this is the kind of match that could headline. It definitely feels big time. Samoa Joe and Hook are pretty good together. Shibata isn’t bad or anything, it I find the idea of Joe/Hook going after The Hurt Syndicate much more exciting than the three of them going after the Trios titles. I don’t have the same attachment to Shibata as the other two, and that’s because I’ve seen much less of him. Bill/Hobbs was decent, even though I’ve never been a massive fan of hardcore matches; at least, not when they use barbed wire. It makes me flinch a bit, there’s no entertainment in that for me. Overall, another strong episode of AEW television. I’ll probably give Collision a watch on Saturday too, so job done as far as retaining my interest goes! Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 20, 2025 (edited) My favourite bit of this show was how strong the promo work was. Hangman and MJF was a fire segment, Toni was brilliant, but Caster, Mercedes, Moxley, Copeland, Ricochet, Nana and even Cage & Archer were strong. Least favourite bits, and actually, the only thing I didn't love on this show, was the motherfucking Vanilla Midgets, their awful promo work, Kyle O'Reilly's stupid face and the fact they're in the main event. I get why, the aftermath was great stuff, but it's still sickening. Get these shitehawks back in NXT where they belong. Edited February 20, 2025 by tiger_rick Quote
Chili Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 (edited) I really love the touch that MJF is on Page's case because the fans love him regardless because of his prior showing of morality and decency, and MJF saying Page got his feelings hurt when it's clearly Max with a massive complex about letting people in and getting fucked over and the crowd not truly loving him still. I like little touches like that with MJF and hopefully this angle throws him back into his game. The heart of any good MJF story is when he's openly trying to deflect people pointing out how absurdly insecure about cravings to be adored but he's such a complete shit that it's hard to achieve. Paid Members Supremo Posted February 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 20, 2025 MJF keeping within the fiction and not ruining everything with shitty Edge Lord shoot comments. “We’re proud of you.” - everyone. As expected, the Hangman Adam Page reception arc is hitting like crack. He’s the fucking best. Quote
