Pretty fucking stupid on their part to burn the AEW bridge so quickly. It's not like they have any drawing power to bargain with. Also the AEW booking for new people is pretty standard: you do a load of jobs but if you put on good matches in the process you'll work up the card and then eventually you'll get a proper push. 

Miranda Alize is someone I only really know of through working for AEW/ROH. A lot of the side-eye is going to fall on ex-WWE talent Nixon Newell. Last week's match was the first time they have teamed. That can cause it's own problems with the egos over who gets ring time and the fall guy. 

With Deadlock going on hiatus and Prestige shutting down. It's not like the indie scene is booming right now.

If there’s not more to this, it’s a bafflingly bad decision. They’re not even contracted to AEW, why would they be expecting to win at this stage? They did enough to earn a second opportunity, if that went well, maybe they’d end up with a contract offer. If you’re thinking this environment isn’t right for you, do the job then decline further opportunities. Instead, you’ve done something that makes you look horrendous to work with, after - in the case of Newell - being dumped by WWE twice. As best as I can tell the other wrestler had only wrestled once for WWE in the Mae Young Classic, losing to Rhea Ripley - but clearly they didn’t rush to sign her, so it’s still a terrible choice.

If you’re behaving like that before you’re even signed by the company, Tony Khan will be left thinking he’s dodged a bullet, and other companies will subsequently approach with caution. 

EDIT: Just seen @burchybabi’s post - that’s just as ridiculous. AEW has been bad at giving lower card wrestlers overly long matches, to the detriment of the winning act. If you want to get TayJay over, a few faster wins is the way to do it. And if Newell and Alize continued to impress, there’s every chance they’d have not only been signed, but moved up the card in the AEW tag division.

Further details are saying the match was only supposed to go 3 minutes and that's what they were upset about, asked for more time but were told no so they fucked off. Absolute buffoons.

Nixon was complaining not long ago about how she’s hardly had any bookings since leaving WWE. A great opportunity comes along where she could’ve worked more tv and maybe eventually get a contract. She’s lucky someone took a chance on her with those Owen Hargreaves knees.

Was coming here to post pretty much this. Obviously don't know all the details, but to go from complaining about nobody booking you to spurning AEW seemingly because they asked you to lose a match or two? Madness. That bridge must be well and truly burned now and I can't see WWE bringing her back given her injury history and the fact they've already released her twice before.

Especially these days. Doesn't take much to capture a buzz on social media if you've done something interesting or unique. People get sharing and discussing and excited to see you next time. But there's not a next time if you decided to not even bother this time! Can't believe either one of them felt they were in a position of power like they needed to protect themselves like that. Madness.

Bloody hell, if true then what absolute planks. It's not like they are anywhere near the level of a Mercedes Mone or a Toni Storm, to try and pull that kind of stuff. 

Read some stuff about Alize being a bit of a muppet, but couldn't be arsed to really look into it, since wrestlers gonna be wrestlers.

When Mercedes walked out, She was a huge draw. I'm not even a fan but to compare her to these two dullards is just asinine. Even Naomi is more over and more important than these two.

Anyway, Collision. 

It was decent, although I didn’t bother watching the main event. If any of you think I’m joking, I genuinely do dislike Roderick Strong that much. I’ve not even bothered to check the result, I just don’t care about Blood and Guts. 

The duo who stepped in for Newell and Alize looked decent. AEW does seem to be taking its women’s tag division seriously, rather than taking the approach WWE has. I like the fact they’re establishing tag teams, and I hope they find this division’s version of The Acclaimed sooner rather than later.

Although as a character she’s grating on me, Harley Cameron has improved a lot as a wrestler. Clearly she is as fast a learner as she’s claimed to be. if she keeps progressing, she’ll be a Toni Storm-level star sooner rather than later. 

The FTR match was great, and I have to assume they’ll be ending Brodido’s title reign, setting up a title match with C&C. And if the intention is to push Bandido and King as singles wrestlers, I think it’s the right move. Bandido in particular could - and probably should - be a main event wrestler for AEW. 

Ace Austin was impressive against Kyle Fletcher. If he’s good on the mic, this could end up being a match we look back at as a breakout moment for him. Certainly, if I were Tony Khan I’d be looking to see if he has more to him.
