Mone/Stat overcame some sluggishness and was quite a cool match up in the end. Mone was good in control working over the knee and back and doing nutty bumps. Kris sadly has lost some of her explosiveness since the injuries and it feels like the booking has badly cooled her off. Really sweet inventive finish. 

Okada/Osprey was excellent! Will did a much better job in selling the blood loss here than the comedy faces he was doing earlier. Loved the part where Okada headbutted Osprey and reopened the wound before luring him into a german suplex. The counter sequences towards the end didn’t feel too cooperative and had real meat to them. I don’t know how long they’re gonna wait before pushing Osprey to the top but I fear they’ve already missed the moment. Good to see Omega back. Him being introduced as a kind of authority figure was odd. Wonder where that goes. 

Wow, the main event seemed to come around fairly quickly. No complaints from me. No tag title match? NO JERICHO?!!! Holy mother of Fuck!

The fourway worked as a bit of variety on a card full of singles matches but underdelivered from what you’d expect from a AEW multi-man. Moxley got a nice bit of comeuppance while clinging onto the belt. Guess it was all about the post-match. Rated FTR are about to dish out some of the most shocking rah-rah speeches but they should make a fun trios team. Was actually enjoying Copeland in ring before the injury. 

Good show for what felt like a B-PPV. Might actually go back and check out some of the big C2 matches.

That was a really solid show. Crowd was up for it throughout, and everything got a reaction. Found the main event probably the weakest overall (although I'm very much noting how Orange Cassidy was fairly protected by the finish - I was fully expecting him to eat the pinfall). 

It feels like they're hitting characters and importance fairly well. The tournament was great for Okada (and he feels like a bigger deal in AEW because of it) and Ricochet (character-wise) in particular. Leaning into 'you're really quite annoying, aren't you?' with Ricochet really works.

Wasn't absolutely blown away by anything, but it was a really easy watch. The right amount of matches too, more or less. Didn't feel like it dragged, and everything felt moved forward.

I have found myself becoming more impressed with Ospreay recently and Kyle Fletcher looks nothing like the skinny dweeb with stringy hair I saw at a New Japan show 6 years ago but, guys, seriously, do not EVER shoot headbutt each other again. Complete idiots.

Even if it was planted, Fletcher ripping up a Osprey is better sign only to be greeted with a Osprey is still better sign, got a good chuckle out of me.

Heels getting into it with the fans is something I'm a big fan of.

I saw on Facebook someone refer to The Deathriders as 'The Dudline', and I've nearly split my trousers while laughing.

I’ve said it before, but the Deathriders is one of the more frustrating angles in recent times in that it’s bad, but it shouldn’t be. A brutal stable led by a heel Moxley is a great idea, and the wrestlers in the stable play their parts well. It’s an act that needs an editor, and a better central goal. If it has to be ‘taking over AEW’, fine - but in that case why not have them y’know, actually do that.

Heck, they could have been even more ambitious given the way AEW works with other promotions and had Moxley aim to reshape wrestling, having him show up in ROH, random indies and partner promotions to be a bit of a bastard.

As it stands, they’ve somehow managed to create an act which is simultaneously too much (through attempted murder), but also not enough.

The Deathriders angle has really put me off my (fleeting) interest in staying up to date with AEW but all these Okada clips are sucking me right back in.

One of the big reasons Death Riders doesn't work is that the group is only a couple of years old and is in it's 3rd iteration and each one has been worse than the last.
The first version had William Regal as a Manager which would be a boon to any stable, and they lost him.
The second version had Bryan Danielson and they lost him.

We're in NWO 2000 territory at this point. The act is ready for the grave. Moxley needs to see the writing on the wall and bin the lot of them off.

Death Riders doesn't work because it's plausible that four or five guys could "take over/run roughshod" when you're Jim Crockett Promotions with a couple of dozen guys on the roster at most. It's not as plausible when you've got more than a hundred people who are somehow unable to stand up to them.

Moxley needs to get Shane O's number from Tony. 

I assumed that's what they were hinting at early in on with the takeover...but it's all gone a bit cold now. 

I'm not condoning bringing in Shane by the way, but as it stands the group seems to have lost it's way and as pointed out it's hard to believe that the roster wouldn't just come out and fck em up

Shane coming in (if that's even on the table, anymore) would probably at least create some buzz. Whether it turns to shit or not, is another question.
