My favourite memory of Al, is on one of the  40 man battle royals on a Coliseum tape (I think the one on Bashed In The USA) when they’re wittering about how crowded the ring still is, Hays says “I can still see Hacksaw Jim Duggan flailing away in there.”

He couldn’t. Because Duggan hadn’t been in it from the beginning.

My fav from his Lordship. Opening of Wrestlemania 3, and he and Gorilla Monsoon are talking about Wrestlemania 1 and Al says something like "I believe that Wrestlemania 1 was followed by Wrestlemania 2" - good to know he could count

but you’re right. His Prince Albert run was shit. T & A were shit, A-Train was mostly shit. This was just bad.

Ted went from being one of the best heels in the entire business to being part of the dullest, most morbidly boring tag-teams of all time. And they were all over the fucking shop, you couldn't get away from them and they threw the straps on them three times! They weren't even around more than a year and a half but it felt like five.

In kayfabe it makes sense that a wealthy man would team up with a tax expert who could help him keep his millions, but it didn't help that IRS was absolutely shit.

And yeah they always seemed to be winning the belts!

I'll always have a soft spot for IRS because his Write Off was the only finisher I figured out how to do on WWF Super Wrestlemania. It was also so shit that along with the magistral cradle it became my finisher when our group of mates would wrestle on the trampoline.

Albert has been mostly shit, but I thought T&A were a perfectly solid team. A better use of those two guys than them just having singles runs, at that period in their careers.

I'll always have a soft spot for Money, Inc. because it was one of the very few occasions that the tag belts were the focus of a main-eventish feud. Always like it when that happens.

This will be a bit of an odd one, but I think it just about counts: the Voodoo Kin Mafia. As the New Age Outlaws, they were great, but for some reason the moment they joined TNA and became the James Gang then the VKM, they were dross.

Only because they’d massively missed the boat on Test in the preceding months. A good skillset and over like Rover after the bump n stunt spectacle against Shane at SummerSlam, he was in a perfect spot to avenge Steph for the rohypnol wedding, especially given he’d earned big brother’s endorsement in subsequent battles with Bulldog and the Posse in the wake of the amnesia fiasco, and especially because they were short term divorcing HHH from the title. Test vs Hunter should have been an obvious revenge match to book for Armageddon, instead they did Vince vs HHH, making Test an easy scrub for yet another PPV in a row and making him look a loser for letting his would-be father in law fight his battles for him.

I suppose nobody noticed, among the key demographic there were only two discussion points in the weeks following Armageddon. T&A, indeed.

Rotunda must be one of the best grifters that ever existed backstage, because he was always an absolute turd on the telly. All over Nitro's as well, stinking up the joint. Completely useless. It's amazing that he found prominent work for as long as he did.

I didn't mind T&A or even X Factor Albert. Useful enough big lad, just with no personality or promo skills. Remember he had a good match with Kane of all people when he won the IC title in 01, just before the invasion where he was immediately lost in the shuffle.

From then on he was stuck wearing generic WWF Attitude shirts doing run ins to chase WCW jobbers off with dregs like Bob Holly and Haku. Middle of the mid card was about his level. When they attempted to push him seriously as hairy Albert in the dark days of late 02/03 I had enough of him. Ditto for the awful Japanese gimmick and the Brodus Clay dancing.
