What Christmas Food or Drink do you hate the most ?

Lets get into the Christmas spirit!

I'll start with Mulled Wine. Lets take a decent bottle of red and absolutely ruin it. I remember the first time I had this thinking maybe something had gone wrong but no it was supposed to taste this rubbish on purpose.

Mulled wine, christmas pudding, christmas cake, mince pies, fucking Shloer, eggnog.

All shit.

I will say that first bite of Christmas pudding I always think "this is quite nice". Then a minute later I am tapping out. It is way too rich for a light meal let alone following a bloody Christmas dinner.

Mince pies and Christmas pudding. Both incredibly shit. We never had Christmas pudding at home as we did Indian immigrant style Christmas dinner (chicken instead of turkey etc), I always saw it romanticised and symbolic of Christmas. I tried one for the first time when I was around 9 and was bitterly disappointed - partly because I thought the sponge was chocolate and really was not.

Another shout for mince pies. Horrible little bastards.

Sprouts are great if you cook them with bacon and chestnuts and mint leaves and hazelnuts and do everything humanly possible to mask the taste of the sprouts and then throw them in the bin.

Our family making the decision about ten years ago to get a very large chicken instead of turkey because none of us like turkey was a true Christmas miracle. I am grateful for it every year.

I can eat precisely two roast parsnips at Christmas and that is as many as I need for the year. As a child I absolutely adored them, but over the years I have lost the taste for them and it turns into active dislike if I have more than two.

I love Christmas pudding, mince pies and mulled wine. Christmas cake is rarely good but my nana's was lovely. Also Petits Fours made with the excess marzipan were a winner. Since she passed away I have gradually moved out of the Christmas cake game as I never found one as good as hers. They've mostly been extremely dry with an incorrect marzipan/icing ratio. So I guess I hate Christmas cake now.

Chalk me down as another hater of sprouts. They were a regular with roast dinners growing up, and there would always be plenty at Christmas.

My sister absolutely loved sprouts, to a perverse degree. Once she was hosting her own Christmas dinners, there were so many sprout variations, it was like the Quarantine episode of Red Dwarf.

I don't like dried fruit, so mince pies and Christmas pudding are a no go either.

Sprouts - you know they’re shit when you have to put bacon and/or chestnuts with them to make them attractive to eat

Mince Pies - suet, dried fruit and booze isn’t mincemeat

Wensleydale cheese - my mum gets a wedge every year flavoured with cranberry and it stinks the fridge out

Christmas Pudding - a tradition that should have died off, oddly that may be the case as I’ve not seen many places sell them this year, seen more supermarkets pushing panettone and pandoro cakes as the festive treat this year

Oh I don't like the cranberry sauce in a turkey/stuffing sandwich thing either. I don't know why but I just think the idea of fruit on a sandwich off-piste and don't really jive with the taste. I could eat a bowl of sage and onion stuffing like a pathetic human mind you.

I have no issues with fruit alongside savoury food (apple sauce, pineapple on pizza, etc.) but I've never taken to cranberries. I can eat them out of politeness, but they leave a metallic aftertaste. They absolutely don't belong in Wensleydale.

Whatever cheese it is that comes with orange slices in it can fuck off too.

Any TV chef's "This is my perfect Christmas" shit, some novel take on something just because you need to have new content every fucking year.
