It seems to be a term thats getting more an more popular recently. I know that's been cleared up, but if you think that's problematic you want to hear what the colloquial slang for a sandwich is within certain parts of Ireland. Quote

Paid Members Carbomb Posted June 24, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 24, 2025 (edited) Just had this for lunch. I call it an "Unfortunate Fellow" - a UK version of a po'boy. I toasted a Metro roll from Aldi, air-fried some discount scampi from Sainsbo's, bit of mayo, miso BBQ sauce (the brand that has labels that look like they've been done with a Dymo), salt, pepper, garlic powder, gochugaru, red onion, rocket, and voilà. Very tasty. Edited June 24, 2025 by Carbomb Paul Mariner Quote

Very tasty. Talking of which I had a banger from M&S the other week. The beef, caramelised onion and pepper mayo sub roll. In the same week I had a ham and cheese croissant from Starbucks too! Doesn’t get much more hoity-toity for me. Been thinking about recreating a street version of the caramelised onions by combining the onion chutney and the pickled sliced red onions ever since. Paid Members Carbomb Posted June 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 30, 2025 This big messy boy is my latest version of what has become a bit of a classic to me, a peppers & eggs sandwich. Had some mushrooms that needed using up, so fried them up and put them in, butter on one side of the Metro roll, and this fancy Dijonnaise my parents just brought back from France. Very tasty, if a bit unruly. I think @wandshogun09 would approve. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted June 30, 2025 Author Members Posted June 30, 2025 @Carbomb I have no idea how you eat that without it ending up all over your face (waheeeeeeeey) Sandwich of the week was chargrilled chicken, cheese, rocket (was billed as spinach, no delivery apparently) and Spanish chorizo (isn't all chorizo Spanish?) Incredibly handsome as always, have to go into the office again tomorrow and am now slightly less annoyed. 9/10 Quote

Technically you can get Mexican chorizo as well, which is more like a crumbled mince, but I don't think I've ever seen it in the UK. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 1, 2025 There's also Portuguese chorizo, spelt slightly differently. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted July 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2025 Made this beauty out of leftovers! End of a sour dough baguette from yesterday, roast chicken from last nights tea, drizzled with pizza express salad dressing and the last 2 slices of a pack of Emmental. Wrapped in foil and baked in airfryer for 15 minutes. Bliss. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2025 Looks incredible. I'm currently still full from dinner, but I still want to eat that. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted July 21, 2025 Author Members Posted July 21, 2025 Sandwich of the week at work was a New York Style Deli one. Pastrami, Monterrey Jack cheese, tomato, gherkins, mayo, lettuce and mustard. I've got to admit, the yanks know what they're doing with putting mayo in every sandwich. Absolutely unbelievable. 10/10 Quote
