If someone's absolutely shitfaced, they should still be shitfaced five minutes later even if they've found a body.

The Fall Guy got it right, recently. Colt drinks that laced cocktail and both you and him are just stuck with the effects of it for the rest of his night.

CCTV or surveillance footage that's just scenes from earlier in the film or franchise, complete with the cinematic camera angles and cuts so common in security camera video. I think Fast and Furious have done it at least once, maybe in Triple X too, where the boss goody is showing the team a video of "Look at what this guy is capable of" and it's a montage of professionally filmed clips.

So having declared 99% of the English language off-limits, the UKFF now turns its attentions to cinema. Do music next!

Incorrect music. More specifically period set films where they play newer music (for example Dirty Dancing with songs from both the 50’s and 80’s.) There was also an example in Saltburn where they were listening to a song at the bar and it came out a few years after the scene was set. Just lazy.

My music pet peeve is "ironic" juxtaposition of cheesy pop songs with violent fight scenes. It happens at least three times in Deadpool & Wolverine, and every time had me thinking, "fuck's sake lads, Shaun Of The Dead was twenty years ago". It's such an overdone gag. And if you want to extend it to juxtaposing poppy music to violence in general, not just big elaborate fight scenes, Reservoir Dogs did it more than thirty years ago. It's just not clever any more.

Michael Rapaport.

I watched a film last night called Kiss of Death.

Spoiler

Nicolas Cage puts Jump Around on a ghettoblaster and beats him to death. It was great.

In fairness, if there's one property that warrants it, I'd say it was Deadpool. I just can't imagine him carving up people to serious music. Running through different styles and genres of music in my head, I just can't think of anything that would work for that film, except maybe some kind of 70s funk.

Something that annoys me in movies: when a band or singer or performer is about to do really badly, even a skilled one, they have a mike feedback moment. Like that's how microphones and PAs work.

To be honest half the engineers I work with seem to prefer to use keyboard shortcuts over mice

I couldn't even start on bringing computers into movies aren't that realistic chat, hackers/programmers are basically "the wizard did it" of modern film making.  Always found it funny when you'd get online discourse around film or TV where the character's profession is a key point (e.g Good Wife) and those who had that profession would gnash teeth over the lack of realism in that particular show. I kinda just accept that most fictional properties take place in a parallel universe where the laws of computer science/actual law/medicine/physics are just slightly different (and the baseline attractiveness of humans is a chunk higher)

As long as something sounds like it could be realistic I never really care if it's actually realistic or not.

Doing something on a computer but only ever using the keyboard.

Oh god, definitely this. Especially when it's something that would almost certainly require a mouse(*) like zooming in on a particular section of a CCTV recording (which in itself is another one to add to the list - the magic "can you enhance this?" request on a pixelated recording).

* I assume, as I can't see how that could possibly be easier on a keyboard.

Yeah, internal logical consistency is always better than realism. If I find myself nit-picking a movie, it's because it's not doing enough to hold my attention any other way, or because it's contradicted the rules it set for itself, rarely because something is done that wouldn't work that way in real life unless it's really egregious.

Apparently gun nuts are the worst for it; Hollywood apparently gets everything about guns wrong all the time, so if you know anything about them you're just getting wound up watching any action movie ever.

The character is in their home, they get a phone call telling them to turn on the news. They flip the tv on, it’s immediately on the right channel and just in time to hear the headline story from the beginning or a “if you’re just jointing us…” recap.

People being knocked out generally always makes me laugh. In movies it's treated like you get hit, you're out cold for a while (even a few hours) then you wake up with a bit of a headache and no other symptoms. It's especially funny when someone knocks someone out with a gun and they don't have brain damage afterwards. It's actually pretty hard to knock someone completely out cold with one blow.

I think Austin Powers slightly touched on it, but I was always amused at the idea of mass groups of henchmen in movies. How do you accumulate them, what's the application process. God, I need more hobbies.
