Paid Members tiger_rick Posted August 24 Paid Members Posted August 24 Only started it this morning but fantastic job on the intro @Liam O'Rourke Loved the collection of promo lines. Dragged me right into 98 WCW. Quote
Browser Brady Posted August 24 Posted August 24 That looks interesting… In other Podcast talk. i think it’s nearly time for Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer to part ways. They seem to be squabbling more and more often in the last year than any other period in the past. It makes for horrible listening. Dave clearly annoys Bryan now and it’s like hearing your parents argue before they sit you down for the big talk. Quote

I've heard them separately on things (Meltzer when he's guested on stuff, Alvarez when he reviewed prestige shite era TNA and was losing his will to live), but the idea of both sounds so unappealing. Meltzer does show with Garrett Gonzalez on that site and they are perfectly fine. Meltzer and Alvarez have been doing shows together since the late 90’s so i think they’ve naturally run their course. There are loads of pointless nitpicking and awkward discussion. not good Edited August 24 by Browser Brady Quote

I read this as Giant Gonzalez and it’s the most interested I’ve ever been in maybe wanting to listen to Meltzer’s stuff. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) Does anyone remember this from the time. I'd never even heard of this match before, and it seems to land slap bang in when I was buying loads of indie tapes. Its like two CZW level idiots planning the maddest spots you could ever imagine in a ladder match, and hitting them perfectly without killing each other. With next to selling and a rubbish ending. The whole match is on YouTube but the Wrestle Me video is far funnier. Edited September 17 by Cousin Jim Bob Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted September 20 Paid Members Posted September 20 Don’t usually give Undertaker’s podcast any time because it’s Undertaker but he had X-Pac on it recently, who I always enjoy on podcasts, so I gave it a chance. Well between Taker keep shoehorning his ‘but the business isn’t like that anymore’ shite in and Michelle McCool keep piping up acting like she was there on the road ‘paying her dues’ in the mid 90s, I gave up about halfway through. Should’ve known better. I’ll stick with New Gen re-listens and Wrestle Me from now on. Quote
Liam O'Rourke Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) Part 2 is up, as Kyle Ross and I return to our series Rebooking WCW In 1998, this time tackling April through to June. We're talking all about WCW in these vital three months as the WWF breaks Nitro's winning streak and their real life panic reaction, Hulk Hogan's new contract and political games, the break-up of the nWo and bad execution, terrible PPV main event choices and some huge triumphs underneath the main event in the rise of Goldberg, the focus on Raven, Chris Jericho blossoms and Booker T continues to build. And of course, we're laying out our ideas for Spring Stampede, Slamboree and the Great American Bash to try and get the most out of this incredible roster, with fun debates on the talent, outside the box ideas and cool directions. A really fun show talking three gigantic months in wrestling history, check it out on Podbean, Spotify or download on the link below... https://mcdn.podbean.com/mf/web/kxabb5mbj3pfs8ug/SCG_Radio_194_-_Rebooking_WCW_In_1998_Q26bziy.mp3 Edited September 23 by Liam O'Rourke Quote
AshC Posted September 24 Posted September 24 (edited) I went back to catch up with Part 1 of this and - I don't typically go for these fantasy booker things - your ideas for the Souled Out 98 and SuperBrawl main event scenarios are excellent. Fun listen, cheers men! Edited September 24 by AshC Quote

Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted yesterday at 01:41 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 01:41 PM I can’t find the clip now, but a couple of weeks ago Cena was on a press junket with the Matchbox cast. They were all asked their favourite comfort tv show and his answer was Monday Night Raw. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM Members Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM He was on The One Show with Lee Mack last week, which is peak British TV isn't it? I don't make a habit of watching but left it on and he started banging on about what an interesting job they'd done with the Matchbox "IP" and it was very bizarre. Quote

Cena felt guarded early but loosened up. I'm a podcast listener so I couldn't see what he looked like but he sounded like was having fun and opened up. He wax clearly localising some of his excitement because he's a pro and he's in the UK but I thought he was genuinely excited about a lot of stuff. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted 8 hours ago Paid Members Posted 8 hours ago very surreal hearing John Cena react to being told about a comedy match two of my mates were in. Quote
Chili Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago He did sound rather pepped and fun there. I'm guessing he's had either an oil change or a software update. Quote
