Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted March 7, 2024 Paid Members Posted March 7, 2024 Finished The Traitors Australia. A really good series populated by the stupidest people ever assembled for a reality TV gameshow. A funny ending that was inevitable and if Camille and Blake had a braincell between them they'd have kicked Sam out before the final three and got the money. We're watching the Canadian version next. The Trehtors. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted March 11, 2024 Paid Members Posted March 11, 2024 We decided to watch the New Zealand version next. First episode was excellent, a lot going on in it. Not keen on the host but always a tough act to follow Rodge and Clauds. Just read they've cancelled the Aussie version because of low ratings, a real shame as both those series were superb. Quote

Yeah I was really surprised about that when I read it. The Aussie market seems to be constantly full of reality stuff so maybe there was just too much for it to stand out, but I'm always seeing Aussie versions of stuff popping up (Survivor, Apprentice etc). Not sure where they went wrong as their efforts on both series were really solid. Maybe it wasn't marketed very well or something. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I imagine it'll be terrible but might be worth a laugh. Plus Mollie is in it. Quote

I could be talking absolute shite but I remember reading that part of the Aussie broadcast rules is that there has to be a majority of home produced content to allow them to show imported shows, similar to the BBC, which is why there main output seems to be reality tv shows that last an absolute fucking age, Masterchef Australia being over 60 episodes a series being the best example. It also means they have very little tolerance for shorter run shows. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted June 3, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 3, 2024 So we watched the New Zealand and Canada versions. The New Zealand one was absolute shite. No conflict at all, everyone knew each other and the host was boring. Easily the worst one we've watched although we haven't watched the American ones because we've heard they're shit as well. The Canadian one was really good though. Loads of arguments and a good ending and a much better host, and not just because she's Karine Vanasse and she looks like Karine Vanasse. Recommend this one. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 4, 2024 I still need to watch the second UK series. I don't think there'll ever be as emotional a moment as at the end of the Australian one, though. Quote

Nails the format again and is just really entertaining in so many ways. I didn't think they could do it but they really captured the magic again. Quote
Paid Members hallicks Posted June 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 4, 2024 @Devon Malcolm season 1 of the American one was funny. Even though they’re all “established” reality TV people, (or I think most of them were), the overall dynamic is pretty good. They are quite stupid though, you’ll be yelling at the TV in frustration. Two main reasons to give it a go: Kate’s performance and the way Alan Cumming says “dollars”. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 4, 2024 Yeah, Alan Cumming is having the time of his life during the American series. Quote

wordsfromlee Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Isn’t John Bercow in the second season of the US Traitors? Quote
DavidB6937 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Traitors US Season 2 done, finally. I definitely enjoyed it more as it went on but some of them were just so typically OTT American that it was quite off putting at times. Where our one has a charm to it, their weird acting and stuff is just ridiculous. But yeah good ending again so glad I stuck with it. It's definitely a different dynamic with most people already knowing each other, which can be for better or worse. Quote

Americans, in other words. Quote
