I completely agree. And one of the biggest complaints of the last few years is how that’s become the norm.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted October 24, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted October 24, 2023 Owen Hart's Enzeguri was a real staple for years. This one isnt the best but it looked incredible more often than not. Loved Bulldog's delayed vertical suplex too. owen.mp4
SaitoRyo
Eddie Guerrero's slingshot hilo was a thing of beauty. Often imitated, never quite duplicated. It's a very satisfying move to watch, but it also looks like it hurts the guy taking it - which is true of the one RVD took from the top of the ladder, as it apparently moved his rib and caused him grief for years! IronSheik
I always loved HHH's Harley Race homage flying knee to a wrestler running the ropes. Always felt it looked cool, unique and like it would hurt.

I saw Virgil beat a jobber with it on Wrestling Challenge making it a clear finisher!
Merzbow
Bret has so many great looking little moves that he could fill up the entire thread, his pendulum backbreaker is just so smooth but deadly looking and Stevie Richards put out an entire video on just that one move of his. Paid Members air_raid Posted October 25, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted October 25, 2023 If we’re going to wax lyrical on Excellence of Execution… his gutwrench suplex was fucking superb way back.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 25, 2023 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 25, 2023 (edited) I think the reason Bret’s barely came up in this thread is probably because pretty much everything he did looked so spot on. So if it was body slams, side suplexes, clotheslines, dropkicks or power slams you were after…Bret was on the money with all of them. I’ll throw in his piledriver though 😍 Edited October 25, 2023 by wandshogun09
Loki
To be honest Bret's piledriver might be the single greatest wrestling move of all time. Even when you know exactly how he does it, in realtime it always looks like it should kill his opponent. It's the perfect blend of technique, timing and visual appeal. It's the sort of move that made people back in the day go "look, this has to be real". A good piledriver like that imo should be a finisher, no kicking out. The King Of Swing
Can't find a gif but Giulia's knee strike to a downed opponent is a thing of beauty. Also when she goes shit head, heel and pulls her fist all the way back and just punches her opponent in the face.

Yeh, but it wasn't Bret's though! Brad Armstrong also did it as a finish, which is why I didn't mention that, even though that was lush as well.
