Also found out that the legendary Jim Johnston has zero memory of writing the song:

Shinjiro Otani's theme is amazing. Creepy Untertaker-esque footsteps followed by pure Japanese joy. Please listen. He also carries a massive katana to the ring for... reasons.

Should start at his theme, otherwise go to 42:03

My Youtube suggestions just played a blinder and linked me to Wrath's debut theme in isolation. An absolute belter:

Lets just throw in this unbelievable entrance here as well. Between this and Glacier's entrance, it just shows you what WCW could do when they put their mind/infinite money to it:

Very good, if you previously told me that Wrath had a great theme then i would have called you a liar.

Really WCW should have sent the “Blood Runs Cold” crew to Japan for 12 months to develop and get over whilst their figured out what exactly they wanted them to be.

A decent idea in principle.

The problem with the gimmick were that they were at least three years too late, '93/'94 would have been the height of Mortal Kombat fever with the second game coming out. Even by '96 that was mostly old hat due to the rapidly changing video game market with the PS1 and 3D graphics, plus the NWO had changed the wrestling game anyway.

Always love seeing Deuce & Domino's great theme getting a look in, but it ALWAYS reminds me that during her brief solo run, Cherry had a lovely a cappella do-wop theme.

They just wrote an actual song which is something I always like in a entrance song. Yeah you can just be simple and loop some riff, but I'm big into themes that have a complete structure, always great getting to hear 'the bit you don't get to hear on TV' with some of them.

Lord Steven Regal’s WCW theme makes me wanna bust out the tea and crumpets…

And while I’m here, not so much ‘underrated’ as it is ‘rare’ or ‘forgotten’ but here’s a bit of 2 Cold Scorpio’s original WCW theme from when he first arrived in late 92. Before switching to the more well known one with the woman screaming “Everybody Here Comes 2 Cold Scorpio” off the Slam Jam CD…

The film only came out in the last third of 1995. There was a second film a bit later. I don't think it's unreasonable timing. I don't think there's ever a time that it's well received in a wrestling context.

Yeah, I agree with Rick. It didn't work because the idea's shit. It's fun to look back on, and freaks like us might like it, but it's basically dead on arrival.

Glacier also looked incredibly lame and didn’t really do any cool impressive videogame shit. It was such an out of touch old man’s attempt at ripping it off.

If you had someone who could move like Low Ki, Mike Bailey or a Vikingo in a cool looking ninja outfit and they could flip about and do mad choreographed martial arts movie fight scene stuff it might have felt like a more accurate “homage”.  Probably still would have died on its arse, guess I’m only adding that the execution of the thing was as bad as the idea.

An excellent shout, definitely one of Johnston’s finest. Too Cool changing from the incredible West Coast G-Funk belter to that “Turn it up!” one was a travesty.
