SaitoRyo
Joan Armatrading is incredible. Don't think she quite gets her due, to be honest. Haven't listened to Show Some Emotion more than once, I don't think, but I'll give it a spin this week. The self-titled album is beautiful.
Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted December 8, 2022 Awards Moderator Share Posted December 8, 2022 Alexi Murdoch’s debut album is nothing short of incredible. Had it on a few times in the office today. The fact that he fucked off fame to live on a remote Scottish island on his own makes me love him more. It’s a beautiful piece of art. gmoney
Big, daft slice of melancholic prog. Great way to start the year, there's even a track that mentions getting a lob on in church.
Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted January 5 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 5 Springsteen released his first album fifty years ago today: Rough around the edges but a rip-roaring introduction to his early storytelling style. Not a bad way to start his career.

Merzbow
I still love everything about this, Lewis was a completely unknown artist and this self released album went unheard for decades until a copy was dug out of a crate of vinyl, then a second was found and it was put up online in 2012 or so and people fell in love. It's just the best, smoldering pop with Badalamenti like synths. Â
Keith Houchen
After @Carbombmentioned the picaresque genre of novel, how about the excellent album Picaresque by The Decemberists.
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted January 19 Paid Members Share Posted January 19 @Keith HouchenI went through a big Decemberists phase a few years back. Was absolutely chuffed a few months later when they popped up in Parks and Rec.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted January 19 Moderators Share Posted January 19 Â I think this should be a link to the playlist for the full album.. Anyway. Frazey Ford - Indian Ocean. A track from it was suggested by the Spotify algorithm and I went and listened to the album and it's abetted regular rotation since. Really good stuff. Merzbow
A typical Merzbow post but not a typical Merzbow sound, this is possibly my favourite live album with Boris being the best and coolest rock band on the planet and the improv noise of Masami at the perfect level underneath it all.
