Gutsy of Tilde to make his picks when there was still 70% of a full midweek programme left to play. Said round of matches is over now and my provisional Fantasy League score is a cack 44 points. Should've made Stones captain instead of just the backup because he got 9 points whereas Rice just managed the basic 2. The obvious choice of Haaland would've been an even wiser choice as he bagged a haul of 14, although some of those were down to a 95th-minute intervention that was hardly crucial in the title race. Only other decent scorer was TAA on 5 points.

My two 'keepers were in direct competition and I went the wrong way, sub Alisson beats starter Fabiański 2-1 as Liverpool won by the same score at West Ham. Another of my new signings, Danny Welbeck, appears to be injured or out of favour as he hasn't played 90 minutes since before the World Cup break, and rarely even gets to the hour mark. He came off the bench for all of 17 mins last night for a solitary point. Then again, nobody I left on the bench did particularly well either.

This coming round feels like the best time to use my Bench Boost chip since 13 of my squad have got a double round while the other two are playing at home to the bottom club (and still have a double to look forward to in mid-May). The remaining midweeks have zero, one and two catch-up games respectively so the next round is the best time to fill your boots as no fewer than six teams have got two fixtures for the price of one in Gameweek 34. I'll make Haaland captain for now instead of trying to be too clever about the armband pick, and save my Triple Captain for matchday 36 or 37.

Some battle for the chippy tea scudetto! Me and Klopps Barnet have been head to head for weeks now.

Ha, I never need to look at the top of the standings in any of those private leagues! Good to know there's a close title race heating up there too, mind. Also, I misread 'battle' as 'batter' at first because, you know, fish on the brain given the name of that league.

I note the Cups have started in all of the UKFF ones too, and I seem to be winning my ties so far. The closest contest is against someone whose name could be a reference either to Man United or the Belgium national team – we don't know anybody around here who likes both Belgian football *and* Man U, do we? Hmm...

As I've mentioned, I shipped out a load of players with my Wild Card last time, meaning I got nothing for Brentford or Arsenal's most recent wins or for Spurs' 3 goals on Sunday. I was right to start the apparently 'doubtful' Danny Welbeck since he bagged a brace and scored 15 points and I've spent loads on Salah as a luxury player as well, who at least came good-ish with 7 points. Hoping Haaland can nick a few against West Ham in midweek and thereby justify the armband.

Already got rid of Alexander-Arnold and Fabiański and brought in Nick Pope and Lewis Dunk ahead of their bonus fixture against each other in Gameweek 36. In the meantime, I'm going with Mo as captain with robo-Erling as backup. By some weird contrivance, all my players have ended up with a home game next (which would've been true even without the two latest transfers) so it's a pity I can't use Bench Boost again this time. Mitoma, Rice, Burn and the aforementioned Pope all fail to make the cut so are benched.

The results went into the opening post on Monday night, and the table was updated straight after that because Bank Holidays throw my whole weekly routine out of whack and this season is ending with even more of them than usual. MVP RULZ is in the lead, but Tilde joined him in double figures and therefore keeps pace at the top. This may be the week when Stinky Dad played himself out of contention as he got no bonus points and didn't make up for it with regular ones. The gap at the foot of the classification is down to 5 points, but Vegeta does still have his second D2D to come.

Before that, he'll face ultimo in the Cup final, who now looks less likely to be in with a realistic chance of The Double thanks to a second-half comeback from bottom side Benevento. The equaliser came 4 minutes from time after Parma had been reduced to 10 players, which kind of sums up their season. The outcome confirms they'll have to return to the top flight the hard way as they're now 15 points off Genoa in the second automatic spot with only 9 points left to play for – if the play-offs even happen under Italy's complex rules which Notts County probably wish applied over here.

Anyway, everybody except Stinky rightly disagreed with him to claim their pair of bonuses apiece. The outstanding bonus points came from the 'wildcard' fixture, in which I'd given Nantes the kiss of death by mentioning their excellent record in la Coupe. They were duly dispatched by Toulouse, who emphatically proved that reverse nominative determinism is an observable phenomenon in Saint-Denis. First season back in the highest tier and now they're straight into the group stage of the Europa for next season.

Guesses were really good this week with no-one managing to pick less than half the games correctly, but only one exact scoreline was spot on. Brentford's late winner earned Tilde that three-pointer but cost some other players 2 points each, whilst a few participants were only one goal out in the odd remaining match. On the other hand, we also had a 6-0, a 4-3, a 4-1 in what was meant to be a tight relegation scrap and a 5-1 in a Cup final, so it's understandable nobody bet on those outrageous scores in what should've been a nervy, cagey late-season affair.

Right, bit of an unusual wrap-up this week, but a new set of 10 will again be going live at the top of the thread sharpish, including another major continental domestic Cup showpiece, some more Monday matches and what should be the last visit to the lower divisions of the campaign.

My provisional score in the Fantasy League is 120 points, not bad but not as high as I'd like for a double round where I used up one of my Chips. Haaland's 16 doubled up to 32 but Welbeck on 17 and Salah on 18 would've been even better choices as captain. Looks like I should get through comfortably in all the Cups against people who clearly aren't giving it as much thought as I am by this stage.

Not that it mattered because I played my Bench Boost this time, but there was more evidence of poor team selection – Reed and Robinson, whom I left on the bench, both scored more than 4 people that were in my starting line-up.

Following tonight's results, the Huddersfield-Reading match no longer has anything riding on it. Sorry about that, but scheduling for these catch-up games is done for Sky's benefit, not ours. Oh well. Here are my picks anyway:
