It's easy to split the product from the actor if you want. I've done it in the past with wrestling and do it with TV and film.

It's not quite the same as continuing to enjoy Benoit matches though. He doesn't benefit from that anymore, either financially or in terms of personal reassurance and vindication.

What I keep coming back to is, if your local newsagent punched your mum and called her a cunt, would you keep going there for your morning paper or would you, at the very least, be willing to inconvenience yourself somehow out of principle?

Now what if it wasn't your mum but an employee, and instead of striking her and calling her names he stood by while she was raped, or abused his authority for sexual favours? Daily Star and a packet of Nik-Naks?

In which case you probably wouldn't go to any of them, right? Unless she caught some of the sweets and gave them to you, of course. That's an arrangement worth encouraging.

Wrestling fans seem better at it than others

Probably down to years of WWE being the only show in town, you stop watching it, you stop watching wrestling completely. As you say the whole industry is rotten, Full of absolute dangers.

He's still majority share holder and major roles are held by his daughter and son in law unless I've missed something, so how gone he actually is and for how long is still to be seen if it is just intended as a PR move from him until the heat blows over.

Agreed, Tommy.

The people who think Vince has really retired are the same people who actually believed Elon was really going to buy Twitter. So cute and naïve.

The shocking inability of wrestling fans to spot when they're being lied to by conmen is amazing.

Fucks sake. Right, it's a bit like this. He hasn't retired. He's been retired. Like an old leader getting put into gentle house arrest. It's a business side decision, not a wrestling side decision. They're be messing with different marks then.

How are the shareholders, or anyone else for that matter, going to stop him having regular conversations with people he's mentored and worked with for decades, including his own daughter? If he's going to influence decisions, that's how he's going to do it, over the phone, over text, over dinner.

He's not going to be full on running the company because he's physically not going to be there and he won't be in big meetings, but the high ups are almost exclusively people that won't say no to him when he calls them on the phone and tells them that Lacey Evans needs to turn baby face again.

However, because he'll be in Katsup mode at home, rotting away wanking off to 1998 Sable, they can take his ideas and not do them. I think more than less in the company wanted him gone. As soon as some of talent who tweeted stop viewing him as a earthly cult leader who never harassed people or possibly covered up a deffo murder, they'll just freeze him into history.

There’s always money in the banana stand.
