In spite of the push against…well…’not being racist’ in the States, I can’t see why they’d bother bringing her in. Never mind the fans, it would upset a lot of wrestlers. She’s not high value enough to merit the bother and potential fan backlash, surely?

As far as I am aware the only one there she had issues with was Chelsea Green but I could be wrong.

Many wrestlers had/have issues with Punk and he is there. I know she is not Punk but if WWE want to work with someone, they will.

Again, the imagined fan backlash will only be online and one or two in the crowd. WWEs core audience do not live their lives online and likely know nothing of Tessa's past. People have done far worse than she did and still get steady work in the business. Give it a year and she'll be there.

But it'd be likely to be NXT and their crowds are smaller and probably more likely to be Internet savvy etc.

Tessa got loud, "she's a racist!" chants in Texas. It was genuinely uncomfortable viewing. And for what she can provide? I wouldn't go anywhere near her.

Hunter's probably already sent her a contract.

Eh, it’s the States. They think Parker and Sloan are pretty names to call your little girl. I saw a bloke on telly the other day called Foster. No, not like Ben Foster, Foster was his first name. They haven’t got a clue.

Brick is also a first name there. Just when you think they can’t top themselves, they manage it.

Surprised there isn’t more chat about the return of the Hardys. I guess it’s a way of getting some value from them without putting them under the WWE banner exclusively.

While I wouldn’t completely rule it out, but given that Penta, Ethan Page, Jade Cargill and Shaun Spears kept their names, I’d be surprised if that was the reason. Plus, it would be simple enough to find out about AEW through googling the new name and learning more about who he actually is, if you didn’t already know.

Only thing I could say is sometimes people opinions change like the wind. The only thing I could suggest is the quality of their opponents or fued may of made a difference?

Also Penta? Yeah you couldn't get away with renaming him... no way.

Have to say though Ricky Saints? Man got off easy. I can get behind that.

They did rename him didn't they? Wasn't he Penta El Cero M in AEW? And prior to that he's worked under more than a dozen different names or variations on the name.

You are 100% correct. Obviously the Penta bit is still there, but i put that down to how they shortened Rey Misterio Jnr when he joined.

Everybody lives their lives online.

Social media is absolutely rammed with big WWE fans. Are these not the core audience? Many of the same people who were massive fans when it was absolute toss or when it was literally unwatchable due to an audience of monitors. Those people might have some terrible takes but holy fuck, do they love that company. They are absolutely the core audience.

The "casual fanbase" is the biggest myth in wrestling. It's not 1998. Episodes of Raw on TV last year got 1.3m viewers.

Could not agree more. Most of the clips they upload to YouTube get as many views as the TV shows, and often way more. People consume content in different ways now, more so then ever. In fact, you only need to see how Raw on Netflix is doing and how Netflix measure the numbers by viewing hour that how these metrics are being consolidated are not the same as they were once before.

Maybe not the right thread. But YouTube have over the last 3 weeks have dropped the first 53 episodes of NXT starting from the beginning.

I get the impression nxt is more about developing the whole round character more than the wrestling? I like the wrestling in nxt more the main roster personally. You can see some of them need to fine tune their wrestling skills a bit. However some of them don't seen to need to they mainly need to get better at talking. I like it though. There aren't 20 minute promos, it's more about the wrestling.
