Don't go out on the piss for the rugby.

To be fair, I can't recall ever enjoying a Six Nations match while sober. But best not to overdo it.

Anyway, the results went into the opening post on Sunday night and there was a lot to work out for the table straight afterwards. In a high-scoring round, Vegeta leapt into first place with a remarkable 20 points. That was enough to yield one extra bonus point for the rest of the field. Rory was the worst performer (it says 3 underneath the table as that's from before I added the bonuses), but he's still 5 points ahead of ultimo, who got his D2D bet wrong. Five other participants took advantage of that.

Extra time in two of the cost a couple of players points, but eventual wins for Hibs and – especially – Man City Ladies earned more people points than it lost for them. Victories for Chelsea, Liverpool, Celtic and Dortmund proved fruitful, although a home reverse for Villa and the remaining outcomes in Germany and Austria produced more of a mixed bag of guesses.

A new card will be up in the original post very soon.

The final scores went into the initial post on Monday morning and the table was figured out later that day. In a low-scoring week, Vegeta drops down to third place as he posted his guesses late. The lowest scorer to pick on time was ultimo, who remains in last place.

Two bits of housekeeping regarding the FA Cup:

  1. It turns out that ties went to extra time after all. I only found this out at two minutes to five on Saturday when they said some matches were. Not sure when this was decided. Either way, it wasn't communicated well by the FA themselves or the football media. This affected one fixture. Boreham Wood v Southend United finished 2-2 after 90 minutes, which is what MVP RULZ bet on. I'm usually really strict about this, but given all the confusion, I'm counting that as a correct exact score. For subsequent rounds, the rule will once again be clear so it wouldn't be a three-pointer under any other circumstance.
  2. We lost our first game to Covid, but it probably won't be the last after Wimbledon's return to Plough Lane somehow led to the squad contracting the virus. Normally a postponed Cup tie takes absolute priority, but the current advice is for teams that have suffered an outbreak is to isolate for two weeks. So, either it'll take place later this month or Barrow will be given a walkover. Both of those possibilities mean all predictions are void as far as this competition is concerned.

The three non-knockout matches all ended 1-1, which produced a less than optimal batch of returns. In the Cup, upset wins for the Daggers, Tranmere and that team from north of the river caught some people out, but expected progress for Crewe and Shrewsbury proved marginally more fruitful.

It's an international round next, so we'll have a set of 10 up plus some FPL Cup clashes in the first post shortly.
