UKFF FPL 2020-21

The final scores for both the actual football matches and the FPL Cup clashes have been in the initial post for a couple of days now, ever since the tables were worked out. I've left the standings in the latter competition in alphabetical order for now. International rounds used to be very high-scoring, but the onset of closely-matched meetings in the Nations League has made results harder to predict. Nobody made it into double figures this time out, with only joint best performer Shy Dad managing more than one exact score. Early leader Stinky Dad had another poor week, but it's @ultimo the great who sinks to last place by treating the international break as a week off. Luckily he wasn't involved in the Cup matches this month.

With such low scores, there's almost no pattern to spot among the guesses. If anything, narrow victories for Scotland and Germany (their only one in eight matches in the tournament so far) and a draw in Dublin proved the most fruitful, although people were expecting goals in the last of those games. Further stalemates in France and Poland, home reverses for Liechtenstein and Northern Ireland, victory for England and a comfortable stroll for Denmark all caught a majority of participants out.

A new set of 10 will be up in the first post shortly.

So boring you forgot a letter in its name!😛

Anyhow, the results were put into the opening post on Sunday night, then corrected on Monday morning because I'd put the wrong result down for Palace-Brighton even though I'd just seen the 'highlights' (and I use the term loosely) on Match of the Day 2. Despite that error, the table has been updated correctly as far as I can tell.

Vegeta got his D2D bet right and half of the remaining participants disagreed with him, so he got 8 bonus points which made him top scorer and helped him to close the gap to 8 points as well. Stinky Dad is suddenly sinking like a stone as he scores just 2 points for the second week running and slips into the bottom half of the standings after looking like he'd be the runaway early leader in September.

Without the bonuses, Rory and MVP RULZ would've been joint best performers. The latter moves away from the duo at the bottom with his 2 exact scorelines – both from Portuguese matches. The margin between Tilde and ultimo remains at 2 points.

Away from the Etihad and Selhurst Park, an away win for Villa and a six-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge caught a lot of people out, as did the margins of victory for Man United and Lille. A stalemate at Tannadice and score draws at the José Alvalade and Stade Louis II proved more of a mixed bag, but a routine success on the road for Benfica was generally good for at least one-pointers.

A new card, including the next D2D, will be up in the original post very soon.
