21 hours ago, Shy Dad said:

That did not go well for me, I'm a lot rustier at this than I remember.

You got 6 points, which was also the average for the week. That's a lot lower than international rounds usually are. Both the home defeats in Ireland caught people out, alongside Germany's failure to win in Switzerland. The Czechs not being able to play their first team didn't help either, but at least the match wasn't voided. Single-goal victories for Gibraltar, France, Italy, England and Wales – in the last two cases with very late winners – proved more fruitful. The uncharacteristic five-goal thriller in Budapest, on the other hand, was generally good for one-pointers.

The results went into the opening post on Monday night, which you can still see by scrolling up at this early stage. It's that awkward first week where I don't have the table to link to yet, so instead here's last season's one, for the last time. Everybody who signed up participated on this occasion, although as I said, no-one would've got a mark in the 'missed weeks' column if they hadn't. All who joined in are returners, mind. Perhaps making the long-awaited meeting between the twin giants of Gibraltar and San Marino the very first game of the season wasn't the best way to entice new players in!

Two people haven't sent me D2D picks yet, however. I'm not going to name and shame, nor am I going to kick anybody out for failing to PM me this year either. Once I actually thought about my own choices, I came up with 9 possible picks.

Which means I have 6 spare. And 2 people who still need 3 choices each. So, if I don't hear from that duo by the end of Week 5, I'm going to allocate teams on their behalf. If potentially being stuck with a Belgian fifth-tier side as a D2D team isn't incentive enough to make your minds up, then I don't know what will be.

Since you can't actually see the standings, it's only fair to point out that MVP RULZ began his title defence disastrously since he's in last place on just 3 points, whilst Cup holder Stinky Dad has already recaptured his form from much of the last campaign as he leads by three clear points on a nice round 10, making him the only person into double figures so far and the only one with more than one exact score correct.

This season's first set of club fixtures will go into the original post in just a moment.
