Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted November 19, 2023 Moderators Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) Looking at picking it up for the kids for Xmas. Is it one hour story and then you have access to free play doing stuff like keepy uppy / floor is lava / shadow lands mini games I'm guessing? I think as long as there's enough of that stuff then it'll be worthwhile for me. Excited to play it with 3 or 4 players as they will let me be bandit whilst they fight over who gets to be bluey. Matthew Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Played through Planet of Lana the last week; which is on Xbox, PC, and I believe Switch. A really charming game, that is beautiful to look at, has a score that compliments the game perfectly, and a simple, easy to follow story. The type of game you can pick up, and put down easily, but will make you want to come back until you finish it. Some of the puzzles are tricky, but not to the point you want to break the controller. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice easy game to play. Story is only 4hrs too. Quote

Still early on in this. It’s the same old same old, go here, kick peoples heads in etc. met some girl who helps the homeless and she wanted me to check out a cabaret club. Jesus fucking Christ. Bet some people wanked themselves silly over that. And of course it was the moment my ill girlfriend woke up from her sofa kip. Quote
Keith Houchen Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Lads, feel like I’m cheating in my round the world flight on Flight Simulator. The leg from northern Canada to Greenland is 5 hours across ocean in my plane, so I’ve switched it to a fighter jet that can do it in over an hour. Sure I’ll complete my task but I’m starting to think it’ll be tainted, a bit like when Liverpool won the league. Also, in Yakuza games, do all female characters have that annoying high pitched yelp for a voice? When that Akame bird says “Joryu!!” It goes through me like anime fans go through tissues. Quote
Merzbow Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Akame definitely has a very heavy accent, I'd say it's likely the Kansai dialect which is a bit in your face and grating at times. It comes with part of the game being set in Osaka. Quote
Merzbow Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 I saw they added Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON to PS Plus' monthly games, it's a bit of a mouthful but it's also a pretty fun arcade conversion with over 130 mechs from every show/film. Gameplay is barebones with no story mode but it's combat is surprisingly deep, I think it'll take a while to get a hang of playing online against people who have likely been playing for years now. Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 22, 2023 Paid Members Posted November 22, 2023 speaking of PS Plus, I picked up Parappa The Rapper 2 on there last night, as an awful lot of my gaming is just variations on a theme of "what were you playing between 1997 and 2001?". Turns out I don't think I've ever actually played Parappa 2, as I don't remember any of it, and I'm even worse at it than the original. My girlfriend remembers every bit of it almost word for word, though. Also picked up Klonoa, which is a game I only ever had the demo of, so looking forward to actually playing it. It's not quite Tomba, but it'll do. Keeping on the PS1 kick, I've been playing the remastered version of Abe's Oddysee, and finding it a very fun throwback. I've owned the latest Oddworld game since it came out and just not played it yet, so that's probably next once I get this one out of the way. Also playing Call Of Cthulhu for PS4. It's fine, a fairly bang-average detective game - reminds me a little of the Sherlock Holmes games, which I never played enough of to really get into. I'd be disappointed if I'd paid for it, but as it is, it's fine. Quote

Merzbow Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 I picked Odin Sphere Leifthrasir back up after putting it down for some reason a fair few years back, luckily my save was right at the start of the Fairy characters chapter so I could get used to her controls again. It really is one of the best looking games ever made, even the PS2 original still stands up due to the hand drawn sprites and backgrounds when everyone was doing everything they could to get away from 2D. I think it's also on PS Plus. Quote
