Really looking forward to this. I love IT and although this kind of expanded origin thing isn't always my bag I was completely sold as soon as Bill Skarsgaard was on board and the trailers look great.

I want to try and consume a fair bit of Horror this month so decided so listen to nothing but that on Audible.

Gave The Exorcist another run through and I forgot how bloody brilliant the whole thing is. Blatty's narration and character voices are just sublime and it's just an overall amazing experience you can absolutely get lost in. There's nothing to dislike here at all and this will be an annual listen for sure.

Also managed to watch 'Misery' for the first time after adoring the audiobook. Cathy Bates and James Caan are just absolutely fantastic in this and the overall sense of dread and how it grows steadily into the ending is wonderfully done. The film has a lot less of the Opioid dependance storyline and the leg scene is less gory for TV, but it was an easy and entertaining watch.

Just restarted Pet Sematary which I thoroughly enjoyed first time round. Michael C Hall does a very good job, but it's impossible not to think of him as the main character and it's kind of distracting to me.

I'm the Devil. Now kindly undo these straps.

I watched Terrifier last night and thought it was a weird film. They did the hard stuff really well - there was a decent sense of dread and tension with one jump scare in particular really getting me. The way it was shot and the locations etc were really cool as well. Some of the gore was really well done

But then the easy stuff was bad. The makeup was poor and Art the Clown seemed to look different in every scene. The writing was terrible and there were obvious ways the script could have been tweaked which would improve it massively. Acting was pretty bad in places.

Loved the bit where the caretaker guy went outside in the cold and dark to have a cigarette, then goes inside and.... lights another cigarette!

It was very short and I was never bored so all in all a success. I will watch the other two but I've heard this one is the best of the 3 so I'm a bit worried

Mate honestly the first is an aperitif compared to 2 and then the third just goes balls deep from the kickoff and doesn't let up at all

The thing I kinda like about it is they are making a scary horror but they also remain fully aware how cartoonish they go to which really does make it such a unique and open goal now because they are clearly delivering something new and exciting because they shatter records every time.. seeing them get number 1 at the box office as a complete independent machine just doesn't happen ever and they remained at the top beating the second joker film....

For any independent movie to beat a ungodly machine like advertising and promotion for something like the joker which would have got bells and whistles every chat show ect etc but it was beaten by the underdogs which makes it so much more endearing

That second Joker was shit though, and didn’t go anywhere near as hard on the advertising that the first one did. The whole film was dead or arrival. 3 years too late and its box office showed as such.

And let’s not pretend that Terrifer didn’t have a decent advertising budget/campaign behind it. Cineverse put up a lot of money to advertise it. Nothing like what the major studios do obviously, but it wasn’t like they just stuck a single poster up in the newsagent’s window and got by on word of mouth.

No, it isn't. It's an unpleasant and not particularly fun film that's also really quite misogynistic. The second one tones down the misogyny and tones up the fun a bit - I didn't like it, but there was genuine potential in it. The third one, to be fair, I thought did a really good job - mostly got rid of the misogyny altogether, played up the tension and the stupidity. It was overly long and has wandered up its own arse in terms of lore, but it was also genuinely well shot, well made and fun for the most part. I went to see it at the cinema and enjoyed a lot.

I thought the second one was awful. Why they felt the need to shoehorn a mythological supernatural backstory to a killer clown with a hacksaw I do not know.  It’s 2 and a half hours long, and feels like 4….

The third one is better, but still a bit too long and convoluted with the supernatural stuff.

I think the Art the Clown character is gold. You don’t need to know his family tree and what motivates him as a killer, just let him do silly shit and be gruesome.

First episode this is out and I thought it was extremely promising. Felt like IT straight away and I can't wait to see where it goes.

As someone who loves the F13 films I think you'd be mental to complain about changes to the "lore" as the lore in the films is dumb, barely makes sense and the films are mostly terrible and any continuity is pretty much ignored from film to film.
