Yep went on sale yesterday, my brother tried the presale on Sunday and the proper sale on Monday and all the regular seats were gone. Premium were still available but at £150+ they were too much for us. I'm guessing a lot were bought by touts. Quote
Paid Members Cod Eye Posted May 7, 2024 Paid Members Posted May 7, 2024 We go on the middle Sunday(afternoon sesh) every year, and never buy tickets in advance. Just got the ticket office an hour or two before the session and ask what is available. 12 consecutive years now, and weve got tickets every time(for the last few years, we got 5 together in the wheelchair accessable area that had not been purchased). Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Channel 5 are showing the seniors championship from tomorrow. Dread to think how poor the coverage will be! Quote
deathrey Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 (edited) Ooo thanks for the tip @Cod Eye. My parents are 40 mins from Sheffield so we can time with a trip to them just in case we don't get tickets. Edited May 7, 2024 by deathrey Quote
Pork Pie Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 This weeks English Open is the first bit of snooker I've really watched this season. I think of September as when the snooker season gets going, but that seems to be changing with some big tournaments earlier in the season now. Neil Robertson has been difficult to watch over the last couple of years. He became quite slow and negative but he's looked good this week. He's speeded his game up a bit and going for his chances more. Robertson is favourite to win the final today but Wu is a very promising player who I wouldn't be surprised to see get a tournament win. The British Open will be starting tomorrow on ITV4 with the second table being shown on ITVX Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted September 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2024 Really fun tournament that. Good to see Selby picking up a win. He's grown to be one of my favourites on tour as he's opened up about his mental health challenged and just generally come across as a quality bloke. Quote

Just Some Guy Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 That's sad. I always enjoyed watching Mark King play until I got the chance to see him live, and he was up against Rod Lawler. Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted November 18, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 18, 2024 I'm off to the snooker cupboard in Leicester for the next 2 days to watch some extreme UK Championship qualifiers action. Handsome Hoss Vafaei, Rob Milkins and some of my other favourites on tonight and looking forward to it. Quote

Pork Pie Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 It was nice to see Mark Williams win the Champion of Champions last week. I enjoy just about all the snooker that I watch but Williams really is a joy to watch. Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted November 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 19, 2024 I think what I respect most about Williams is that he puts no effort whatsoever into remaining a world class player approaching 50. The bloke subsists on a diet of pies and McDonald's and is regularly winning tournaments still. I think he'd die if he tried to go out running with O'Sullivan and he's made no changes to his lifestyle like Higgins has. He's great. Quote

He’s a regular in a pub in the town where I grew up and he spends most of his days playing cards and betting on horses. Champion. Quote
DJM Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Great to see Bai Yulu doing really well in the qualifiers for the UK Championship. She beat Farakh Ajaib in Round 1 of qualifying, Jamie Jones in Round 2 (in doing so, becoming the first woman in 25 years to win back-to-back matches in a ranking event) and beat Scott Donaldson 6-5 yesterday in Round 3. She plays Jack Lisowski now in the 4th Round for a place in the Main Draw. Quote
