Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted June 26, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 26, 2024 @Merzbow Did you get around to finding a Black Country chippy that does decent orange chips? I think I'm going to treat myself this weekend. Quote

I think I'm going to treat myself this weekend. Sadly not, I did have a trip to Wolverhampton but didn't get to any chippies while there. I would have tried Ocean Fryer at the Wulfrun but it's closed on a Sunday. Quote

Paid Members Thunderplex Posted June 27, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 27, 2024 Heaton Moor Chippy. Batter not as good as Didsbury Road, but thicker, meatier fish. Ate the scallop on the way home. Quote
Moderators neil Posted June 30, 2024 Moderators Posted June 30, 2024 That looks absolutely incredible @Thunderplex Quote
Paid Members mim731 Posted July 2, 2024 Paid Members Posted July 2, 2024 As promised elsewhere, my birthday Chippy Tea effort. We're down south so it wasn't cheap, but it was also tremendous. We got a large chips to share and there was plenty not on the plate there, and more added later, but the ( advertised as small) fish and fucking massive battered sausage (not a normal addition but as it was my birthday) did the heavy lifting. Frozen Margarita was an unrelated addition but not unwelcome. Quote
Merzbow Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 The most basic post voting tea, potato scallop and small chips but I'm always surprised at how decent this chippy is as it's pretty much the only place still charging under two quid for a bag. The scallop looks dry here but it really wasn't. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted July 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2024 I really love scallops and that one looks grand. Quote
Merzbow Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Yeah it'd been sitting long enough to not destroy your mouth but still get that little hot oil explosion when you take a bite, lovely stuff. Quote

The fish was delicious as were the few chips I was allowed to have, no option of curry sauce but luckily I didn't have enough for the chips to get boring on their own. A fine mid morning snack. Edited July 7, 2024 by Harry Wiseau One day I'll get the hang of posting pictures . No I give up Quote
