Paid Members johnnyboy Posted January 10 Paid Members Posted January 10 (edited) I wish I'd only gone down a rabbit hole. This is more of a sink hole. Mrs JB has already said "You're not watching stuff about the Video Toaster all weekend are you?" and it's only breakfast time. TIL that Dick Van Dyke loves his Video Toaster and Lightwave and would even do convention spots about it. Edited January 10 by johnnyboy Quote
davertfnewman Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Doing book conventions reminds me of the time my dad was a book seller and he went to a sales convention at the NEC where the guest speaker was Ulrika-ka-ka-ka, there to talk about her new book. I can't think of anything worse or so bad it's good. Quote
davertfnewman Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Today I learned, or rather it clicked, that the song Open Your Mind by Usura uses a clip of Kuato from Total Recall. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Today I learned that Ben Stiller/Robert De Niro movie Meet the Parents is actually a remake of an indie movie of the same name released in 1992. The writer/director/star of the original tried to sell the script to Universal Pictures in 1995, but his lawyer didn't distinguish between script and the film in the contract meaning Universal ended up buying the rights to the entire movie. They've subsequently never released the original in any format and keep taking it down whenever it's uploaded online. Quote
davertfnewman Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Today I learned that Gerry Anderson went through a nasty divorce with Sylvia Anderson and based Zelda from Terrahawks on her. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted February 19 Paid Members Posted February 19 ...that the "L" in "LGBTQ+" goes first in recognition of the role lesbians played during the HIV epidemic in the 80s. Because they were (obviously) mostly unaffected by HIV/AIDS, they were able to volunteer en masse as nurses and carers for the gay, bi, and trans people who'd contracted it. Also, that the Stonewall Riots happened on the day that Judy Garland died. Quote
