Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted July 14, 2018 Moderators Share Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) Finally got around to seeing Death of Stalin last night. I had high expectations going in, and they were met completely. Great script, fantastic cast. With all those big names, it was actually Jason Isaacs who was my favourite as Zhukov. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted July 14, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 14, 2018 I've always thought the third Nightmare on Elm Street movie was the best one. Tons of fun, great characters and story and some really inventive moments.

Ha, I suggested that to my Disney and Marvel loving girlfriend last night and she said "Do you think I'd be interested in a film called The Death Of Stalin", as I have a tendency to like dull films and documentaries. Â I explained how it was an Iannucci joint though so it's added to the list.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 14, 2018 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 14, 2018 It's really good. And completely agreed about Jason Isaacs, he was fantastic.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted July 14, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 14, 2018 Cockney Stalin is a little bit of genius. Although my funniest memory of the film wasn't part of the film, but in the cinema. When Stalin died some random turned to her mate and goes "OH! So he did die". The Death of Stalin. Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted July 14, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 14, 2018 Just seen Blockers. Pretty funny. John Cena continues to be the Diet Coke version of The Rock, But showed some great comedic chops. Well worth a watch, thought Game Night was funnier overall though. Y'all seen Aliens the movie, right? Well it's that but with zombies. Almost unapologetically scene for scene. More of the same as Island; Baaaaad dialogue, acting, dubbing with the obvious gore. #SueForCopyright Oh, and it features Goldberg's theme music in it too~~~~~!!!!! Not seen this for years.  Loved it.  Fucking diabolical but loved it!

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 19, 2018 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 19, 2018 Enjoyed it as well. Some brilliant camera shots in it, and the ending is great.
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted July 20, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 20, 2018 When this came out in the Uk, it was heavily cut, but they accidentally released the uncut version first, which was rented and copied immediately. Â The bandsaw scene is an amazing display of practical SFX.
Moderators Astro Hollywood Posted July 20, 2018 Moderators Share Posted July 20, 2018 Highest possible recommendation for Calibre on Netflix, which is terrific. It's unbearably tense at points. If I'd been wearing a heart monitor, it would have been going mental. Typically great performance from Tony Curran too.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted July 21, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 21, 2018 Leave No Trace lives up to the 'ype. Beautiful performances by all and I very nearly had a little cry during it. Ben Foster absolutely nails his character. Pleasing when the overall film matches his performance. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 21, 2018 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 21, 2018 Yeah, it's a lovely film. I hope Foster gets dozens of awards for it.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 24, 2018 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 24, 2018 I really enjoyed Hotel Artemis. It's been a good year for brisk action and comedy like that, and we need a lot more of them. It's really great to see Big Dave adding more good films to his roster. Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted July 25, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 25, 2018 I really thought Skyscraper delivered 100% on its promise to be a brainless action film with a ridiculously elevated sense of constant peril. It was so stupid but I was on the edge of my seat smiling for most of it so it must've been doing something right.
