Paid Members Nostalgia Nonce Posted March 2, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted March 2, 2012 The fucker eats glass as a sideshow attraction too. Eating the glass from a lightbulb/tube is easy enough (it was one of my party pieces when I was young and stupid), but the chemicals in the flourescent tubes will have a serious effect on your health. It's like dehydrated Moj. Â It's such a weird, grotty little subculture, I'd love someone to do a proper documentary about it. It's a shame Louis Theroux's already done wrestling, as he'd be a good fit, although the perfect call would be Werner Herzog. Werner's got a dim view of normal wrestling though, let alone this shit. Ruby Wax touched the surface of this once, but she got freaked out quite early during a "normal" hardcore match.

He looks fucking gone doesn't he? from what I've been looking at the last few days I can't imagine that glass eating fucker in normal life at all.  Quite comically, he's married.  oh god, the poor woman! Does he have a day job? I'm fascinated by this cunt since I saw that spot of him laughing after having the kenzans torn out of his head. He's been wrestling since '95.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted March 2, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2012 I wouldn't say he's been wrestling, more like doing a sideshow... Â See, that's what I don't get. I'd probably not mind deathmatches if it was all about when the big twatting with something mad happens. The tease is what makes things great. Not when it's over and over again and it's like a forearm, only shitter and dafter. Â I've enjoyed a few BJPW matches, but those are the ones about the tease which build the tension before the big bump or whatever. What's the point of just coming out twatting someone in the head with a light tube when you can build to it and get a better reaction? That's what a top wrestler would do. Paid Members Nostalgia Nonce Posted March 2, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted March 2, 2012 And why is there so much no-selling/underselling? These are supposed to be DEATHmatches.
Paid Members Chris B Posted March 2, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted March 2, 2012 I'd never thought about Deathmatches as being more about BDSM than about wrestling. It actually makes an enormous amount of sense. The idea that people aren't really doing it for the payday, and it's not really about being good wrestlers. It's about showing you can take it further than someone else.

How about then I take syringes and slowly plunge them into the bottom of your feet?" "Aww dude fuck yeah! Have you had an AIDS test?" "No, you?" "Of course not man" Edited March 2, 2012 by Steve 'Big' Jobs
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 2, 2012 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) I can't stand deathmatches, but I've read this thread anyway and it's been quite interesting. Â I have a money related question as well, though it's not about the performers - I'm wondering how much it must cost the promotions to buy in all the weapons for one of these tournament shows? The cost of all these light-tubes, panes of glass, breeze blocks, barbed wire etc etc etc, it must amount to a fair bit by the end, and I can't conceive how any of these shows can make anyone any money. Richie Freebird
Places like IWA use burned out light tubes that are donated. Fans bring a lot of the gimmicks to the shows, some even going as far as to build special pit things, laced with glass and barbed wire etc. I assume the wrestlers themselves bring a lot of their own speciality weapons that they
Loki
My question would be - what do the fans get out of it? I mean, clearly it's not wrestling in anything more than the most superficial way, so they're not getting the traditional enjoyment. And it's obvious that what these guys is doing isn't "fake" and must legitimately hurt, wound and potentially permanently injure. So it's not even the sort of fun you might get from watching a slasher/torture porn movie where you know it's fake blood and special effects. Â What you're left with is, people enjoying watching people hurt themselves and bleed. Which is pretty fucking weird.

I've been around fetish clubs when floggings/beatings etc go on - I know there's a sexual component, but it often doesn't involve any kind of actual sex or even nudity.  You've never seen the fetishists that get off on how hard a beating they can take?
