Download seems to be pushing to a younger audience recently, too. I would love it personally so I hope so, and maybe that big Gunnersby Park show they ran recently will help influence things. I imagine they'd also be a relatively cheap headliner in Download terms as well.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 17 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 17 (edited) Korn apparently drew 25,000 for their big London show this year. They are probably a bigger live draw now than they've ever been over here. If they stuck Korn on and top and advertised as some kind of special set type thing I reckon it could work. Paid Members Dead Mike Posted October 17 Paid Members Share Posted October 17 Korn & Limp Bizkit will fill the gap left by the likes of Ozzy & Aerosmith. These are the legacy acts now whose fan base are middle aged & have the disposable income for a £300 ticket & £9 pints.

The shortcut now for bands that were huge but have an iffy record later in their careers, is have them perform an iconic album in full as their set. Gets everyone back out in droves. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 18 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 18 It works though, how many bands 30 year into a career ever put out a relevant record? Nostalgia sells. Korn's last couple of records have been really well receieved as well to be fair. It's either a reunion, bands members rejoin or they play an album in full that sells for these legacy acts. cobra_gordo
Last count I'd seen Korn 14 or 15 times, I was obsessed with them up until my mid-twenties and then just sort of stopped buying their music but would still see them live when they rolled through. The majority of the sets will still be the first five albums with a bit of new stuff chucked in. A fan selected setlist would be cool, they did that years ago on a US run and it looked great. Issues in full if we're getting full album sets though, that album crept in to my top spot of theirs some time ago and refuses to budge. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 18 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 18 Them fan selected sets are a great idea, but most bands end up playing the kind of set they'd always play anyway. If Korn did it I think 90% of the set would end up being their singles which they always play. A 'no singles' allowed set is where it would get interesting. They'd have to hit the club circuit to get away with that though

Merzbow
People weren't lying when they said the new Chat Pile album is pure Korn worship... it's like mixing them with Swans and Godflesh. Â

WyattSheepMask
Mastodon announced as the Sunday sub headliner for Bloodstock 2025. A Mastdon-Gojira Double Bill is a fucking blinder of a night They've also “secured an extra field” to allow for some more weekend tickets to be put on sale on November 5th. Even I don’t get a weekend ticket, I’m there for that Sunday
WyattSheepMask
Ghost have just announced a new world tour for next year. I’ll be at the Manchester show in April, but I’ve been saying to my wife for most of the last year, based on absolutely nothing other than pure speculation in my own head, that they’ll be playing Madison Square Garden the next time they go to America. They haven’t played in NYC for over 7 years, but ever since the last tour I’ve been saying “they’re going to play MSG next time”. I recently turned 40 and we said that for that we would go if they announced a date there. My wife now can’t make the date they’ve announced (July 22nd) as she can’t get the time off work, but she’s told me to go to the show regardless. I saw their first UK show, at The Underworld in London as part of Live Evil back in 2010 and I’ve seen them open for acts, I’ve seen them in clubs, in student unions, at festivals, in the bigger theatres right upto their own arena shows ever since. To now have the chance to see them in “The World’s Most Famous Arena”, I’m actually shaking at the prospect. I feel like such an idiot, yet I’m so excited at the same time UPDATE: Going to Manchester, got a ticket for Standing, which I always prefer m, but I’m also GOING TO MSG! (Standing ticket too). I’m the best kind of emotional wreck right now Edited 16 hours ago by WyattSheepMask
