Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) I was making some gifs from the ranker than rank Emmanuelle in Soho, and couldn't believe how terrible it was — went looking for reviews, and ended up finding this cracker from our own Baztnm. More a straight up porno than anything else. Not even 20 seconds in and it goes straight into the sex, not even time for any sort of storyline. Just straight in there with the lesbian stuff. Absolutely horrendous acting. People corpsing in the background on camera all the time. People forgetting their lines and looking panic stricken. Looks unbelievably amateurish. Whole experience is bloody depressing. It gets even more depressing when you read about the death of Julie Lee soon after this. No wonder the "English Sex Comedy" basically died after this film in 1981. Major downer all the way. I don't believe the "Documentary on Soho" was included on my Odean DVD release. Version I watched only lasted 65 minutes. I'd always held off watching it, because of how dreadful I'd heard it was. Wish I had stayed away. Rock would presumably be playing the lead role of truck driver Jack Burton, originally played by Kurt Russell. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are writing the script while Rock and his producing partners Dany Garcia & Hiram Garcia are producing the movie through their 7 Bucks Entertainment company. Quote

Yeah, it's definitely on youtube. I've said it before, but Simon Sheridan's book on Mary Millington is incredible. The stuff about the arse end of dirty British cinema is especially interesting. That and Point Break are the very definition of films that just do not need a remake. The day they remake Back to the Future with Zac Efron playing Marty is the day I do a madness. Quote
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Bob Gale, the guy who wrote and produced Back to the future said there will never be a remake or sequel so hopefully that makes you feel better. One of the things for me about reboots is that more often than not the time it was made is a big part of the fun. Big Trouble in Little China is so cool and 80s, if you take the same basic story and just stick the Rock in it in 2015 with the pacing and look of a film from now it's not going to be half as fun. Dr.PeterVenkman Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 In fairness, I was probably almost as offended as Abel Ferrara when they said there was a remake of Bad Lieutenant on the way yet I enjoyed it For any film I genuinely love like Ghostbusters or God forbid Jaws being remade, I'd just sit comfortably knowing the remake won't compare so loads of people will love the original more Quote
